I always liked Exo King the best. I have to say another guy I was always liked was Renegade a very underrated card IMO

My Thantos was always gray too.. that's funny. I think there was all together too much green in the official coloring... Mutant was always more brownish to me. I agree with Mark that the stories themselves are pretty timeless... it's not like Comrade Terror is ACTUALLY Russian, after all. I actually really like Pit Viper's story as a whole.. I think the brief heel turn made sense, I just didn't like him teaming with Krakan. Feuding with the Titans, yes. Teaming up with the guy that scarred him... not unusual in wrestling, I suppose, but that always bugged me. For me, Mutant was a purple eggplant color. I think what I don't like about the Viper turn is that it had already been done by Thantos...it just emphasized his 'second class' citizenship for me.

I agree with the Thantos/Viper angles. If you read the Classics and Early Classics stuff, there was no difference other than Viper put on a mask

Massif is the one who's official color scheme I had the most trouble with. I mean, what is that? A Hanes tee shirt fresh from the three pack?
I agree with the sentiment that there's too much green. For me, at least, Pit Viper was always orange, like a copper really.

This is funny. I always saw Comrade Terror as green because of the reptile skin look, but I can see how red would have worked. Mutant to me was always a blue-green color. Wolf is shockingly in exactly the color scheme I always had him wearing (and I can prove this since I colored the cards as a pre-teen back in '87!). Star Warrior is for that matter too, but that outfit kind of screams that particular color scheme to me for some reason. Killer Queen is probably the most different from the colors I imagined. I agree there.. most of the human-like characters I was happy with the colors... I didn't love Pulsar, but alot of the rest were good.

For me, at least, Pit Viper was always orange, like a copper really. I always picture Viper using different colors on different days... sometimes Green, sometimes burnt orange/Copper, sometimes sea-blue. I can see what you're saying about Viper's story being 'Thantos-lite', but Thantos was never really 'redeemed'.. he's always a villian, (his face turn was about getting Chaos) where Viper overcomes it to be a 'hero' again... that's the big difference to me. Thantos had the talent, but let that one event consume him and be the focus of his life. Viper has a'dark period' but then rose above it.

Omega's 2087 card actually ended a year and a half long Thantos title reign. Anyways, Omega's card is a lot tougher than it initially appears. In my current 2087, he loses most of the time but he's really put up some fights against high calibur competition.
And on Thantos/Pit Viper. I think, unintentionally, it's a really good look at how two different individuals deal with a very similar tragedy. Wildfire alluded to it really well. Pit Viper went to a dark place and eventually moved past the event. Thantos let it consume the rest of his life.

Whether he let it consume his life, or it was the real Thantos waiting to come out is a matter of anyone's guess. But I know something, it did wonders for his wrestling career. Thantos dominated my fed from 2087-2094l. He held the belt for most of those years in my fed over 3 or 4 reigns. Anytime he ever lost for me it felt like a fluke.

In my first 2087 fed. He held the belt 39 out of the first 62 months of the fed.
In my current fed. It's in 2089 and he's held it the entire time minus a 4 month reign from Spike.

Weird that you say that......Spike was the guy that had Thantos' number for me in my fed too....I think he beat him twice for the belt in that span.....and Mesmer beat him once. Star Warrior never held my GWF belt........he sucked for me. I only had 2087 to 2094 to use. What is weird also was I turned Star Warrior heel just before I stopped playing and I called him The Masked Warrior. And he started doing really well. Then I read in the GWF Files book later on and i guess before that in classics he used a masked character called Avenging Warrior for awhile. Thought that was pretty cool.

2087 Star Warrior could never beat Thantos for the belt. I had Thantos face a mystery opponent in early 2090 and the new Star Warrior debuted and finally beat Thantos with the Cosmic Big Bang. The crowd went apeshit for that moment.
I told this to Tom at a Con one year and he agreed that this was weird. There was a point where Thantos and Wolf had faced off numerous times. Thantos was 6-0 in title matches and Wolf was 4-0 in non-title matches.
In my original fed Spike couldn't get it done until he got his Cleansing. He then beat Star Warrior for the belt. So I was surprised that Spike won the belt in my restart.

I guess that was about the same time Star Warrior switched to the mask for me, I think he wrestled 1 year with the 2090 card before he turned. His 2087 card didn't do much for me at all. The 2090 card he started to improve a lot. Always really irked me that I would read in the manuals how great SW was and he was the franchise face, and then when my dice would get near that card he could do nothing right.

His 2087 card was still good for me. He had a 2 year run as the I-P Champ in my original fed and a 7 month run in my current fed. At least he's not Wolf.

Sounds like our feds were pretty close.....except your Wolf was my Star Warrior. I know Star Warrior in my fed was the only one that actually lost to the first card of URSA Major. The match was just laughable at how many times Star Warrior missed his finisher. I did have a funny thing where Meteor Storm thought it was hilarious and challenged Star Warrior to a handicap match because they never beat anyone and thought Star Warrior was easy pickings. Star Warrior kicked the crap out of those 2 though. Meteor Storm never won a match for me.

Wolf managed an 8 month reign in 2089 finally. He's actually been less effective in my restart as he's the current Interplanetary Champion and has yet to beat Thantos. Though they had a really good feud in 2087 that lasted most of the year.
