I'd love some reviews for 2K11, guys.. I'm thinking about picking it up for PS2.. If having the classic teams/Jordan Challenge is part of the reason you want the game DO NOT buy it. AFAIK, they're not there. You just get the 60s/70s/80s/90s All Stars. The only reason I could see buying 2K11 for PS2 is if you want a current NBA roster. Other than that, I'd pass on it and just get NBA Live 2005 or NBA 2K6.

really? bummer.
I'll have to think about it then... '06 is actually what I have (maybe '07... no Rondo, which is a big thing for me)
Probably more of a Christmas list item than a run out to the store thing in that case.

My buddy dropped off NBA2K11 and I've learned how this game works, fun stuff. Question, the settings for fouls and the like have a long bar with numbers, what do you guys put the number at?

I haven't messed with any of the numbers yet. I assume that they are all set to 50. From playing experience, they don't call any charging fouls....too many are called blocking fouls. So I would prob set the blocking fouls lower, maybe 35 or so and move charging up to 60.
Depending on what you set the skill at (I'm still on pro for now; all-star is beastly) Operationsports.com usually has the best list for sliders.

I've had three blocking fouls called on me that should have been charges. I'm gonna write down the sliders, but the game doesn't seem to ever save my settings.

I started my The Association at pro level with the Nets, I played Miami who were 0-3 and I was down 7-0 before I made it a game the rest of the 1st half and then I took over and won in the 2nd half. I won my first game by 1 point against the Pistons who tossed a missed 3 point buzzer beater at the end of the game and my 2nd game I defeated the Kings so I'm 3-0...

For those interested, here's a set of sliders I found on OperationSports that a lot of people seemed to like.
"The goal (as with all slider sets) is to create an environment that produces both realistic play-to-play results as well as game results. I.e. - Good teams should beat bad teams more often than vice versa. - Good players should produce and produce realistically pertaining to % and location of shots. - Luck should occasionally play a role - Defense, pace, size, speed should be factors - Fouls should be a factor etc.
How did I come up with these sliders?
A number of ways:
- Hoopdata.com and 82games.com both track shot locations and FG % per location-- I've used these to tune tendencies and shot success rates - Hoopdata.com tracks rebound rates- I've used these to tune rebounds - I've played at least 100 games and watched at least 100 CPU v. CPU games-- therefore, I have seen all types of teams and players operate with these sliders in place - Personally I started at Sim/Pro and started moving slightly in directions (for instance, down on quickness slider) that seemed necessary to make this game more realistic. - Finally, I took all slider sets on this website whose gameplay settings mirrored or at least resembled mine (i.e. Pro or all-star level, 12 minute quarters) plugged them in a spreadsheet (my settings were plugged in three times each per slider, to weight the end result mostly toward mine), dropped both the highest and lowest setting and averaged the rest. However, a few settings are arrived at through different means (see above).
In essence these sliders are a collaboration heavily influenced by my game experience and tweaking and information seeking.
A note: I believe the best possible way to play the game is with sliders equal on both sides, so all settings are for both cpu and human.
Gameplay Difficulty: Pro Quarter Length: 12 Minutes Game Speed: 48 Player Speed: 42 Shooting Type: Shot Stick % FT Shooting Type: Real Player % FT Difficulty: 35

Camera Relative for both, 5 for Defensive Assistance
Camera: (if you play from the side, I can't recommend this any higher-- defending on the perimeter is a lot easier when you can see the entire perimeter)
Broadcast 3 7 Off
Enjoy!
If you choose to move to all-star level with these sliders, the shooting sliders (success when shooting from different areas: mid, close, etc.) will need to be adjusted down. I highly recommend Pro level. Police yourself. It's a video game. Like Czar says, "Play basketball". Pro is more than challenging and much more realistic. Also, remember this: players have a "draw foul" tendency (which is a spectacular addition), so rookies, lesser players, etc. will get mauled in the paint and no call will be made. This is exactly the case in the NBA. 70 gives you a nice balance of calls and no-calls with calls going to the better players (or the players with a higher draw foul rating).
As far as a lot of the issues others have been having (short of bumping on the perimeter): O-rebounds not happening, loose-ball fouls and over the back fouls not being called, no collision in the paint, etc. I have never had a problem with any of these. Since I have the same game, I'm assuming it's the level and sliders that are correcting it."

Awesome, I will give these sliders a look. Have you tried them yet? If so, how are they?

I might play some 2K11 in a little bit, if I do, I'll update with my thoughts. Pacers/Heat tonight. Gonna be interesting to see how the Heat play without D-Wade.

Pacers 93, Heat 77
I think this is where I play "Leave the Memories Alone" because that is NOT going to happen in the rematch.

Awesome, I will give these sliders a look. Have you tried them yet? If so, how are they? Maybe it's just me, but even with these sliders, it didn't seem all that realistic. Dunk tendency is pretty low, yet every fast break, the Spurs dunked on me, no matter who it was. Parker, Ginobli, Jefferson, it was just ridiculous. I will say, though, that playing on Pro difficulty with these settings makes things more competitive. I lost a pretty close game to the Spurs (something like 112-115) with these sliders whereas usually the score wouldn't go above 70 points per team. I've got NBA League Pass on my PC now because I guess when you get it through cable/DirecTV/etc, you're automatically given the Broadband version. I can watch three games at once, damn shame there aren't three games happening tonight that I want to see.
