Dark Match
Wade Barrett vs Koko B. Ware
Koko was no match for Barrett in this one, with Barrett's power advantage allowing him to dominate. Barrett pins Ware after the 2nd WASTELAND in the match.
Dark Match
Ox Baker vs Mr. Hughes
Baker kept trying to set up the HEART PUNCH, but Hughes was not falling for it. This battle ends when Baker messes up a death jump, which quickly lead to the SIDEWALK SLAM and the victory for Mr. Hughes.
(Start to PPV)
Hess: Welcome to SMW Wrestlefest. We are coming to you live from the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN!!! We have several big matches on the card, none bigger than the SMW Heavyweight Champioinship being decided as SMW TV Champion Rick Rude challenges the SMW Heavyweight Champion Shawn Michaels for the belt!!!!
Jim Ross: And that's not all.......Hulk Hogan finally gets his hands on The Giant after The Giant turned his back on Hogan. This man may be strong enough to put Hogan's shoulders to the mat.
Hess: And we also have a big Money in the Bank match to allow one man to have a title shot for any SMW Title at any time of his choosing, as well as the big battle of SMW vs CCW with the LWA World Tag Team Champions The Predators leading Team SMW while the former champions The Road Warriors leading Team CCW!!! Let's head to the ring!!!!
The Interns (SMW) w/ Dr. Ken Ramsey vs LAX (EPW)
This was a battle to say the least. The Interns, as always, wanted to take the action out of the ring, and they succeeded, narrowly dodging a disqualification on 3 occassions. Intern #1 delivers the ETHER RAG KNOCKOUT to Hernandez, but Hernandez barely kicks out. Homicide gets into the ring, and he is on a mission. After battling both Interns by himself, he manages to hit #2 with the GRINGO KILLER. Intern #1 trips coming into the ring and could not stop the 3 count as LAX picks up the win.
Hess: Wow, what a battle!!! LAX narrowly escapes with a win.
Ross: LAX should do very well in the tag team scene in EPW if this match was any indication of what they are capable of.
The Undertaker (FA) vs Abdullah The Butcher (FA)
Abby tries to take the match out of the ring, but as he is going between the ropes to follow Undertaker outside of the ring, Undertaker catches him with a vicious chop to the throat. Abby tumbles back into the ring. The Undertaker does the cut throat gesture and then delivers a thunderous TOMBSTONE on Abby to get the 3 count.
Hess: I thought Abby would put up more of a fight than that.
Ross: The Deadman was taking no prisoners in this one. What a giant Tombstone on Abby. In my opinion, The Undertaker is going to be a major player in the LWA no matter what federation selects him.
DOOM (Butch Reed/Ron Simmons) vs The New Minority (Whitmer/Steel) (SLWC)
A very even match that saw both teams look like they were going to win. All 4 men battle outside the ring, and Whitmer hits Reed with a steel chair while the referee wasn't looking. Simmons grabs a steel chair of his own and clobbers Whitmer. This time the referee catches Simmons, and calls for the bell. DOOM were really upset, with Ron Simmons picking up the referee and delivering a POWERSLAM on the referee.
Hess: That is going to cost Simmons some money........
Ross: I have to agree with you there. But it looks like The New Minority picks up the win nevertheless.
Bar Room Brawlers (Crusher/Dick The Bruiser) vs RGW Tag Team Champions Heartbreak Express
The referees sure are taking a beating in this one, as The Crusher gets DQ'd for shoving the referee out of the way after trying to get at Phil Davis after Phil used a foreign object unseen by the referee. The crowd cheers both members of The Bar Room Brawlers as they leave the ring.
Hess: The Brawlers were robbed in this one. The referee has got to get out of the way and let these guys go at it.
Ross: The HBX seem to have found new life since "winning" the RGW Tag Team Championships. They barely escape this one, but they do pick up the win.
SMW Memphis Title Match
JBL (c) w/ Cowboy Bob Orton vs Brian Lee
JBL offers Lee some money to forget about this match, but Brian Lee is not biting. As it turned out, Lee should have taken the money. Lee looked off his game, not getting much offense in as JBL dominates. JBL picks up the clean win after pinning Lee after the JBL BOMB.
Hess: One title match, one successful defense.
Ross: It is really surprising that Lee took this match instead of trying to get his hands on Shane Douglas in the interpromotional battle coming up later in the night. JBL looks like he wants to hang onto that Memphis Title for a long time to come. Cowboy Bob Orton didn't even get involved in this one.
Singapore Cane Match
Necro Butcher vs Judas Mesias
A bloodbath in this one, as Necro gets the early pin attempt after a shot with the Singapore cane and then the TIGER DRIVER, but Mesias barely kicks out. Both men took a lot of punishment in this one, but a key exchange outside the ring where Mesias manages to take the cane away from Necro and clobber him with it!!! Then Mesias delivers the STRAIGHT TO HELL on a steel chair and pins Necro for the win. Both men are bleeding heavily as they get a great ovation from the crowd.
Hess: This can't sit well with Necro Butcher losing a hardcore match like this.
Ross: But the man that beat him is a former SMW TV Champion. And once he sees blood, he is almost unstoppable. I am sure Necro will want another hardcore match in the near future with this man.
John Cena (FA) vs Killer Kowalski (FA)
Kowalski looks like he is going to beat Cena early, locking in the KOWALSKI CLAW but Cena manages to get to the ropes. After the early on offense from Kowalski, this was all Cena. But Kowalski would not go down early, kicking out of 2 ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENTS. The 3rd ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT was too much for any one man to handle and John Cena picks up the win.
Hess: Cena may have won this match, but Kowalski put on one heck of a fight. Kowalski would look good in an SMW ring, hey Ross?
Ross: Killer took the rumored #1 pick in the draft John Cena to the limit, but Cena would not be denied as he picks up the win over this giant man.
SMW Tag Team Title Match
Rock and Roll Express (c) vs The Sheepherders
The R&R's are in trouble from the beginning, as they trap Morton in the ring for almost the entire match (4 tokens). But Ricky manages to make the hot tag to Robert, and he is on fire, battering both Sheepherders. The R&R deliver the DOUBLE DROPKICK and go for the pin on Luke. Butch manages to break up the pin and then keeps attacking Robert. The referee manages to get Butch out of the ring finally but in that time the R&R manages a second DOUBLE DROPKICK and they get the 3 count on Luke this time for the successful defense.
Hess: The R&R Express just keep on rolling. I thought their time was up in this match a couple times when Ricky was in trouble.
Ross: Me too Jim. The R&R Express keep on winning, quietly becoming one of the best teams in the entire LWA.
Steel Cage Match
The Mountie vs "Wildfire" Tommy Rich
The Mountie is on a mission in this one, just demolishing Rich. After several slams into the steel cage, The Mountie finally gets the win after the second SHORT ARM CHOKESLAM in the match allows him to escape the cage through the door. After the match, The Mountie grabs the shock stick, and attempts to go back into the cage after Rich until the music hits.........
(Jerry The King Lawler storms down the ramp and clobbers The Mountie sending him sprawling on the floor outside the ring. Lawler picks up the shock stick and attempts to zap The Mountie but he manages to escape. Lawler enters the cage and raises the hand of Tommy Rich as both men get a nice ovation.)
Hess: It looks like The Mountie won the battle, but wow Jerry Lawler is back in SMW!!!!
Ross: That is big news Big Jim. Lawler's long awaited return to SMW has finally happened. And I have just gotten word that Lawler will be the 4th man on Team SMW!!!
Hess: Wow, that is great news!!! Shane Douglas after all the bad stuff he has said about Lawler over the past few months is finally going to get his!!!
Bad News Brown vs SLWC's Sgt. Slaughter
Former SMW employee Sgt. Slaughter looks to be in control from the start, countering whatever Brown tries to do. Slaughter locks in the COBRA CLUTCH. Both members of DOOM come down to ringside, but they are cut off by The New Minority's Ace and Whitmer. But the referee attempts to remove all 4 men from ringside, but Mr. Hughes comes through the crowd and jumps on the ring apron. Slaughter takes a swat at him knocking him off the ring apron. This allows Brown to recover, and when Slaughter turned around Brown hits Slaughter with a foreign object that came out of his boot. With Slaughter doubled over, Brown delivers the GHETTOBLASTER on Slaughter and picks up the controversial win.
(After the match, Bad News Brown grabs some white spray paint from under the ring, and enters the ring. While Hughes holds Slaughter down, Bad News Brown sprays "SLWC RIP" on Slaughter's back to a chorus of boos.)
Hess: What a classless piece of garbage Bad News Brown is. He cheats to win the match and then this.
Ross: The Black Panthers are always known to win at all costs. I am gathering what was spray painted on Slaughter somehow indicates he was involved with the demise of yet another territory. Someone needs to step up and stop these guys.
Tag Team Elimination Grudge Match
Team SMW (LWA World Tag Team Champions The Predators, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, and Jerry The King Lawler) w/ Bobby "The Brain" Heenan vs Team CCW (Shane Douglas, John Pesak, and The Road Warriors.) w/ Paul Ellering
Shane Douglas demands to start the match, but when he sees Lawler is starting for Team SMW, he quickly tags out to John Pesak, which really gets the SMW crowd booing. Lawler and Pesak battle for awhile, but Lawler manages to tag in Liger. Liger is on fire, hitting Pesak with several high-flying moves, but is unable to put him away. Pesak mounts a comeback, wearing out Liger with several moves, including the TIGER MAN TOEHOLD. Pesak tags in Douglas, and Douglas is on a mission. Douglas manages to pin the worn out Liger after the BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX. Team SMW is unable to make the save, as Douglas gloats to the crowd.
Shane Douglas eliminates Jushin "Thunder" Liger.
Douglas stays in the ring, and in comes Gorilla Monsoon. Monsoon manages to batter Douglas pretty good, but Douglas manages to tag in Road Warrior Animal. Animal crushes Monsoon with a couple of power moves but misses a turnbuckle charge allowing Monsoon to roll him up for a near 3 count. But that is about all Monsoon could do, as a frustrated Monsoon tags in Vader. Vader dominates Animal but Animal gets the hot tag to Hawk. Hawk hits Vader with an assortment of power moves, and signals to the crowd for the DOOMSDAY DEVICE. Monsoon enters the ring and saves Vader, and the match starts to break down. Animal gets the tag from Animal and hits the POWERSLAM on Vader, but he manages to kick out. Animal misses a deathjump on Vader, allowing him to get the opening to hit the VADER POWER BOMB on Animal. Team CCW is not able to to make the save and we have our 2nd elimination.
Big Van Vader eliminates Road Warrior Animal.
Hawk immediately enters the ring, and takes advantage of a battered Vader. Vader is obviously weakened and barely makes a tag to Gorilla Monsoon. Monsoon starts off good weakening Hawk, but it is not enough. Hawk manages to pin Monsoon after the GORILLA PRESS SLAM. Team SMW cannot make the save.
Road Warrior Hawk eliminates Gorilla Monsoon.
Vader comes back into the ring, and you can tell he is upset. He hits several power moves on Hawk, but unable to put him away. Hawk manages to tag in Pesak, and Pesak is using his agility to hit and run against the much larger Vader. The match breaks down when Vader throws Pesak out of the ring. Vader hits the VADER POWERBOMB on Pesak outside the ring. Pesak is not moving. The other members of Team SMW keep Team CCW away from Pesak and this allows Vader to pick up the count out elimination of Pesak.
Big Van Vader eliminates John Pesak.
Shane Douglas attacks a battered Big Van Vader to start the match back up. Vader is obviously tired (5 tokens) and is no match for the fresher Douglas. Douglas manages to get the pin on Vader after the BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX.
Shane Douglas eliminates Big Van Vader..
We are down to 2 on 1 in favor of CCW. But Lawler is by far the freshest of the 3 men. Douglas gets frustrated not being able to put away Lawler and tags in Hawk. Hawk battles with Lawler, but Douglas gets antsy. Douglas grabs a steel chair and heads into the ring to nail Lawler. The referee jumps and takes the chair away from Douglas, and ushers Douglas back to the ring apron. While this happens, Jerry Lawler goes into his tights and grabs a match and some sort of liquid. Lawler hits Hawk with the FIREBALL while the referee has his back turned, and Hawk is rolling around on the ground. Lawler pins Hawk and the referee counts to 3. The crowd is in total shock of their hero Lawler pulling all the stops out in this match.
Jerry Lawler eliminates Road Warrior Hawk.
Well this is it......the final fall. Shane Douglas versus Jerry Lawler. Lawler looks like he is going to win the match early in the fall after several moves including the PILEDRIVER with Douglas barely kicking out. Douglas battles back and hits the BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX but Lawler barely kicks out also. Lawler gets hit by the SINGLE ARM DDT, but Lawler gets infuriated, pulling down the patented strap and goes on another flury of offense. Lawler hits a 2nd PILEDRIVER in the match, and the referee counts 3 just before Douglas is able to roll his shoulder.
Jerry Lawler eliminates Shane Douglas.
WINNER and sole survivor: Jerry The King Lawler (SMW)
Hess: That match could have gone either way. Lawler pulled out all the stops in this one to somehow win the match for Team SMW.
Ross: Some would say that he cheated with that fireball on Road Warrior Hawk. If this match was any indication, the first defense of The Predators at Luchamania will be one hell of a match.
Hess: And don't forget The Steiners are in that too. Will be quite the match!!!!
The Giant w/ Bobby Heenan vs Hulk Hogan
The Giant looks to be on his game, dominating early battering Hogan with several power moves. The Giant delivers THE CHOKESLAM and goes for the pin. Hogan barely manages to roll the shoulder. The Giant then delivers the POWER BOMB and Hogan kicks out. Hogan tries to battle back, but to no avail and The Giant delivers a second CHOKE SLAM. Hogan manages to kick out of this one, this time Hogan is hulking up. He batters The Giant and delivers the LEG DROP. Heenan attempts to interfere but Hogan gets a hold of Heenan. The Giant sneaks up behind Hogan and attempts to hit Hogan, but he moves out of the way and he hits Heenan instead!!! With the crowd on their feet, Hogan delivers more power moves on The Giant, and eventually pins him after the BIG BOOT TO THE FACE.
Hess: Hogan barely escapes with his life, and the win after that brutal match.
Ross: You got that right Hess. This could propel Hogan to the #1 contender position for the SMW Heavyweight Title. Only time will tell how that will turn out. And The Giant is still in the hunt for that belt as well.
Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Winner gets a shot at the SMW Title of their choice.
Tomko vs Junkyard Dog vs CM Punk vs Tiger Mask vs Batista vs Ernie Ladd
All 6 men are in the ring doing battle. The first one to get aggressive is the Black Panther Ernie Ladd. He attempts to hit Batista with a steel chair, but Ladd answers with a SPEAR. Batista then picks up the steel chair and attempts to hit Ladd with the chair, but Ladd tackles him and both men tumble out of the ring.
Tomko meanwhile batters Junkyard Dog, and then attempts to get the ladder. Tomko starts to climb the ladder to retrieve the belt but Junkyard Dog manages to grab him and pull him down. Meanwhile, Tiger Mask delivers a TIGER DRIVER on Punk, and he manages to climb up the ladder. Just before he is able to grab the belt, Batista pushes the ladder down, sending Tiger Mask sprawling to the mat. Batista turns around and walks into a vicious CHAINSAW KICK by Tomko sending him out of the ring. Instead of trying to go up the ladder, he goes after Ernie Ladd catching him while he is attempting to re-enter the ring. Meanwhile, both Punk and Tiger Mask manage to get to their feet. Tiger Mask hits Punk with a TWISTING MOONSAULT sending Punk reeling. Before he can attempt to climb the ladder he is cut off by Tomko. Tomko delivers the CHAINSAW KICK on Tiger Mask sending him out of the ring. Ernie Ladd then hits Tomko with a steel chair, sending him falling out of the ring. Tiger Mask knocks the steel chair out of Ladd's hands and out of the ring. He then delivers a FLYING TIGER DROP on Ladd leaving both men outside of the ring injured. Batista enters the ring again, and is met by a steel chair shot by CM Punk. Batista tumbles out of the ring, leaving Punk in the ring by himself. Punk manages to climb the ladder, but Junkyard Dog grabs his ankle. Tomko re-enters and delivers the CHAINSAW KICK on Junkyard Dog, sending him to the mat. Before Tomko can reach up and stop him, CM Punk grabs the briefcase and wins the match.
WINNER: CM PUNK
MAIN EVENT: SMW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Shawn Michaels (c) vs SMW TV Champion Ravishing Rick Rude w/ Bobby Heenan
HBK starts fast, hitting Rude with several aerial moves. Rude barely kicks out on 2 after a FLYING BODY PRESS. Rude recovers but cannot put HBK away. HBK then hits the SWEET CHIN MUSIC out of nowhere, but Heenan distracts HBK, allowing Rude to recover. It was just what Rude needed, as this allows Rude to take control. Rude sends HBK out of the ring, and runs him into the ring post. The referee allows him to get away with this. Rude sends him back into the ring, but HBK catches him coming back through the ropes. HBK attempts a TOP ROPE ELBOW, but Rude manages to get out of the way. Rude staggers over to HBK and nails him with the RUDE AWAKENING. 1...........2..............3 and we have a new SMW Heavyweight Champion!!!!
WINNER AND NEW SMW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: "Ravishing" Rick Rude
Ross: Wow, Ravishing Rick Rude is both the SMW Heavyweight Champion and the SMW TV Champion!!! The crowd is stunned as they are booing while Rude poses in the ring for the crowd.
Hess: Like it or not, Heenan has his men on a roll. The Giant came up a little short against Hogan, but there is plenty of gold in the Heenan Family. That's all we have for tonight, thanks for watching, and don't forget to get your tickets for the next Friday Firestorm!!! It should be a great event!!!!
