PNW LAST STAND (CARD 27)
Live from Portland Memorial Coliseum
Paul Orndorff def. Bullet Bob Armstrong a Orndorff knee drop.
Blue Demon def. Dewey Robertson with El Pulpo. Highlights: Robertson looked strong early on but underhanded tactics outside the ring turned the momentum. After Roberson submitted, he had a bit of a meltdown, shoving the ref and yelling at ringside fans, before regaining his composure and apologizing.
In the match where the winning team will face LWA Women’s Champion Sara Del Ray tomorrow night at LWA Superstar Extravaganza, despite taking a severe beating throughout the match, the team of Rain & MsChif def. Wesna Busic & Ayako Hamada when MsChif delivered the dreaded green mist to Busic.
In a six man no disqualification match, Dick Slater, Brett Wayne Sawyer & Adam Pearce def. Bill Dundee & The Sheepherders (Luke Williams & Butch Miller) when Pearce pinned Dundee following a jumping piledriver. While the pin was taking place, Sawyer fell victim to a spike piledriver at ringside by The Sheepherders. Sawyer was taken from ringside on a stretcher following the match.
The last man in ring number one in the two battle ring battle royal to determine the top contenders for the LWA People’s Championship was Goldberg. Highlights: Teddy Hart was eliminated by Big Boss Man. Sabu was eliminated by the Rock. Nick Bockwinkel was eliminated by Shane Douglas. Douglas was eliminated by One Man Gang and Boss Man. Barry Windham was eliminated by OMG and Boss Man. Diamond Dallas Page was eliminated by OMG and Boss Man. Boss Man was eliminated by Jumbo Tsuruta. Tsuruta and OMG were eliminated by Steve Austin. Tsuruta was joined by Tatsumi Fujinami at ringside and the two brawled with OMG and Boss Man before security separated them and put Tsuruta, OMG and Boss Man in the second ring. Ernie Ladd and Stan Hansen eliminated each other. They had been brawling with each other since the beginning of the battle royal. Steve Corino was eliminated by Austin. Antonio Inoki was eliminated by The Rock. AJ Styles was eliminated by Goldberg. Buddy Rogers was eliminated by Austin. The Rock and Austin were eliminated simultaneously by Goldberg, who they thought was also eliminated. Rock and Austin began brawling at ringside before realizing Goldberg had pulled himself back into the ring before both of his feet touched the floor. While Austin was brawling with The Rock, the Extreme Horsemen (Corino, Rhino, Justin Credible and Chris Candido) tried to do a gang style attack on Austin, but The Rock, Barry Windham and Stan Hansen evened the odds as security came down to send Rhino, Credible and Candido to the back.
The last man in ring number two in the two battle ring battle royal to determine the top contenders for the LWA People’s Championship was Buddy Rogers. Highlights: Steve Austin was eliminated by Steve Corino. Austin was distracted by Chris Candido, who had made his way back to ringside, allowing Corino the quick elimination. Austin began pummeling Candido. As Corino signaled to the back for the rest of the the Extreme Horsemen, AJ Styles took advantage of the situation. Corino was eliminated by Styles. Teddy Hart was eliminated by One Man Gang and Big Boss Man. Diamond Dallas Page was eliminated by OMG and Boss Man. Jumbo Tsuruta, OMG and Boss Man were eliminated simultaneously as Tsuruta attacked OMG and Boss Man from behind and the momentum carried all three men over. Nick Bockwinkel was eliminated by Antonio Inoki. Shane Douglas was eliminated by The Rock and Buddy Rogers. The Rock was eliminated by Barry Windham. Sabu was eliminated by Inoki. Windham was eliminated by Inoki. Inoki was eliminated by Styles. Styles was eliminated by Ernie Ladd and Stan Hansen when Styles was unfortunate enough to come between the two brawling behemoths. Ladd and Hansen fell victim to their hatred for each other as Buddy Rogers scooped both men over the turnbuckle, eliminating both Ladd and Hansen.
In a four corners elimination match for the PNW Tag Team Titles, the Rising Sons (Masahiro Chono & Hiroyoshi Tenzan) win the titles, last eliminating PNW Tag Team Champions The Barbarians (Konga & Nord). Highlights: The match also included Dick Hutton & Tom Jenkins and Old School Outlaws (Dutch Savage & Moondog Lonnie Mayne. Hutton’s and Jenkins’ inexperience as a team showed as they were the first casualties courtesy of a Savage pin of Jenkins following a running boot to the face. The Barbarians looked to be en route to another successful defense as they took turns brutalizing both of the other teams. Konga finally pinned an exhausted Mayne following a flying headbutt. The Barbarians’ power looked to overwhelm the Rising Sons as Tenzan looked primed to be pinned after a Nord running leg drop; however, KENTA came through the crowd and distracted the referee from making the three count. Konga chased KENTA off as Chono bashed Nord in the skull with a chair, which was unseen by the ref. Chono rolled a semi-conscious Tenzan on Nord for the victory.
Harley Race & Bruiser Brody def. Island Savages (Meng & Manu) w/Alere Little Feather when Race pinned Manu following a piledriver. Highlights: This was the all out war fans were expecting (with a combined total of 15 pin tokens). All four men proved why they are considered some of the toughest in the sport. Meng showed without a doubt he is capable of hanging with the top names in the industry, coming close multiple times to pinning both Race and Brody. In the end, Manu’s inexperience may’ve been the difference, as he was isolated by Race and Brody, finally falling victim to a third Race piledriver. Meng was not able to make the save.
In a no disqualification, falls count anywhere match, Buzz Sawyer def. Tommy Rich following a powerslam in the fourth row. Highlights: This match took fans back to the mid-80’s Georgia territory and proved that time does not heal all wounds. Both men pulled out all the stops, nailing each other with chairs, chains, the time keepers bell and, yes, even a metal kitchen sink. Sawyer bled early following a post shot by Rich but returned the favor shortly after with a chain assisted punch. The match toured the arena with stops at the concession stand, locker room and nose bleed section of the bleachers. Rich went on a late match tear but was unable to hold Maddog’s shoulders to the mat. As Rich’s frustration elevated, Sawyer reintroduced him to the chain followed by the powerslam that ended this blood bath.
For the TCW Heavyweight Title, TCW Heavyweight Champion Andre The Giant def. Ric Flair following the big splash. Highlights: Flair used his speed to control the match early but it was only a matter of time before Andre got a hold of him and once that happened, Flair didn’t stand a chance. It should be noted that Flair kicked out of four Andre pin attempts before falling victim to the final big splash.
In the Commissioner’s Cup Captains match, Weirdjerod came to ringside first to explain the unique rules of this matchup. Each captain will be allowed two corner men that will be randomly handcuffed to another corner man. Each corner man will be given a key. The first of the six men to retrieve the opponent’s key and unlock himself, will be allowed to join his captain in the corner as his tag team partner.
Great Gama def. Giant Baba and Whipper Watson Highlights: Gama was seconded by Stan Hansen and Don Leo Jonathan. Baba was seconded by Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami. Watson was seconded by Ernie Ladd and Jos LeDuc. Jonathan was cuffed to Ladd. LeDuc was cuffed to Tsuruta. Hansen was cuffed to Fujinami. The match started out showcasing the technical skills of all three competitors but quickly degenerated into an all out war. The Japanese contingent continued use of underhanded tactics produced the first elimination, as KENTA, who appeared at ringside and tripped Watson, allowing for a Baba big boot, eliminating Watson. As the six corner men continued brawling, attempting to get their respective keys, Hansen was able to wrap his bull rope around Fujinami’s throat, choking him out and gaining the key. Hansen was then able to join Gama at ringside. Baba fought gamely but was no match for the power of Hansen and technical skill of Gama. The end came when Hansen hit Baba with the lariat, allowing Gama to deliver the back leg sweep for the pin.
Again Weirdjerod came to ringside to explain the dynamic of the 12 man, elimination, losers leave PNW match. Weirdjerod directed the crowd’s attention to the cage that was lowering over the ring. He went on to explain the cage would stretch three feet beyond the ring on each side, was roofed and had two doors. Weirdjerod continued to explain that after rejecting several suggestions for a name for this cage, he decided to simply call it The Absolution. Weirdjerod explained each faction would be divided into two teams of two and would battle until the first elimination took place. At that point the next two teams would enter the ring and again battle until the next elimination, at which point the final teams will enter and the match will continue until one faction is left standing. Weirdjerod further pointed out the ringside security guards that would escort the eliminated teams from the ringside area.
The Army (Roddy Piper, Gorgeous George, Buddy Rose, Ed Wiskowski, Doug Furnas & Dan Kroffat) def. Snuka’s Savages (Jimmy Snuka, Tonga Kid, Bull Ramos, Killer Kowalski, The Sheik and Abdullah The Butcher) Highlights: The match began with Furnas & Kroffat facing The Sheik & Abdullah. The brutality of the cage setting favored The Sheik and Abdullah but the tag team prowess of Furnas and Kroffat seemed to make the difference as they eliminated The Sheik with a Sky High Lariat. The next two teams into the ring were Wiskowski & Piper and Kowalski & Tonga Kid. Kroffat and Furnas isolated Tonga Kid; however, it was Kowalski’s Bombs Away knee drop that sent Piper back to the dressing room. The last two teams in the ring were Snuka & Ramos and Gorgeous George & Rose. At this point, the match became fierce as all men realized they were fighting for their PNW careers. The eliminations came quickly. Furnas and Kroffat eliminated Tonga Kid after a Sky High lariat. Ramos choked out Gorgeous with the Indian strap. Abdullah and his trusty fork eliminated Kroffat. Rose eliminated Snuka with an inside backbreaker. Kowalski eliminated Furnas with a backbreaker. Wiskowski eliminated Ramos with a flying headbutt. An exhausted Abdullah eliminated Rose with an elbow drop, leaving The Army at a two on one disadvantage. The Savage’s advantage didn’t last though as Abdullah could not continue and fell pray to a second rope clothesline from Wiskowski, eliminating Abdullah. As Kowalski and Wiskowski brawled, it looked as Kowalski was going to gain victory but he missed his Bombs Away knee drop, allowing Wiskowski to connect with a top rope knee drop of his own to get the win.

The roster posted is correct. J says thanks for watching out for him, but he needs a small manageable roster for the summer and would rather not stockpile guys that will make it harder for him to keep everyone booked.
