Dec. 26, 2008
This is JPW Triathlon Survivor! An end of the year, spectacular three-day event with a very unique format. Each match is actually three matches in one, with a six-man, tag team, and singles match. The team that wins this best-of-three advances to the next round of the tournament.
The tournament takes on greater importance than just a big-time tournament to end 2008. The International Six-Man Tag Team Championship, currently held by Jumbo Tsuruta, Toshiaki Kawada, and Akira Taue, is being held up. The winners of the Triathlon Survivor will be crowned the new six-man tag team champions.

Fuji's Foreign Force
(Yokozuna, Masato Tanaka, Killer Karl Krupp)

The Great Muta, Masa Saito, Yoshiaki Yatsu
The first match in the tournament looks very good on paper, with both teams capable of working together and individually. Mr. Fuji led his contingent of the new PCW heavyweight champion Yokozuna, Killer Karl Krupp, and reuniting with the former three-time PCW champion Masato Tanaka.
The Great Muta is back in Japan, still unsigned with any promotion. He teams up with Masa Saito and Yoshiaki Yatsu, both members of Choshu's Army but perhaps that is not the case anymore.
The Foreign Force took control against Saito, but he and Yokozuna hit in a huge collision leaving both men down in the center of the ring. Saito got the tag, but Muta missed off the top rope. The match went back and forth after that, until Tanaka pinned Yatsu with the Diamond Dust.
That setup the second fall of Yokozuna and Karl Krupp against the Great Muta and Masa Saito.
The tag match was very heated with great action. Yokozuna ran into some trouble, but turned things around. This one turned into an excellent tag match with neither team holding an advantage for very long, and several near falls. Muta and Saito just couldn't do enought damage to Yokozuna and it was a huge avalanche that put away Saito.
Krupp faced off one on one with the Great Muta. Krupp had little trouble finishing off Muta, who was in pretty bad shape at this point, and the German Klaw made it a sweep for the Foreign Force. Mr. Fuji's contingent advance to the quarterfinals tomorrow.

Holy Demon Army (Jumbo Tsuruta, Toshiaki Kawada, Akira Taue)
The Holy Demon Army of Jumbo, Kawada and Taue have been the only Int'l six-man tag team champions since winning the tournament on May 23, 2008. Now they have to win this tournament to get the belts back.
Dan Kroffat and Doug Furnas are one of the hottest teams in JPW right now, and are heading back to those Int'l tag team titles. The Can-Ams and Kawada/Taue have been engaged in some great tag team matches over the last month. They team up with the Super Strong Machine, who brings tag team ability and more power to the team.
Right away the fans were in for a good one as both units tagged in and out and went all out. Super Strong Machine got the pin on Kawada after a collision in the corner, leaving Taue and Jumbo against the Can-Am Connection.
More back and forth action that saw the Can-Ams with the Sky High Lariat on Taue, but Jumbo interferred. A double team then put Furnas down but only for a two count. Jumbo put on the pressure and downed Furnas with the Thesz Press, so it comes down to Taue versus Kroffat.
The last fall was unbelievable as Taue would not give up despite a double underhook powerbomb and a top rope flying body press by Kroffat. They went all out displaying incredible guts and determination. In the end Kroffat took the win with another double underhook powerbomb to put his team into the quarterfinals tomorrow.
Patriot, Sgt. Slaughter, Mil Mascaras (PCW)

Abdullah, Carlos Colon, The Sheik (SMW)

Abdullah, Carlos Colon, The Sheik (SMW)
The new National Tag Team Champions, Abdullah the Butcher and The Sheik, hit Japan along with Carlos Colon from Smoky Mountain Wrestling. A very interesting matchup as they face the PCW contingent of The Patriot, Sgt. Slaughter and Mil Mascaras.
PCW took charge in the first fall, everyone tagged in before Colon got his first tag. The Sheik brought in Abby, but with both men down Slaughter tagged the Patiot and he hit the flying shoulder block off the top rope and grabbed an early three-count on the Butcher.
Slaughter and Mascaras worked well together and the Sarge eliminated the Sheik with a gutbuster.
Mil Mascaras then went to work on Colon. The Puerto Rican superstar did little to slow the Luchador down, and Mascaras won with a cross body off the ropes.
Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask, Ultimo Dragon
def.
John Tenta, Otto Wanz, Seiji Sakaguchi
def.
John Tenta, Otto Wanz, Seiji Sakaguchi
A very big contrast in styles here, as three of the best junior heavyweights in the world today take three of the biggest men in JPW.
The end of the first fall was real sudden. The teams went back and forth until Tenta got Tiger Mask in a bear hug then planted him with a power slam. Tiger Mask got out of the way of a charge by Wanz, and the Ultimo Dragon beat him with the Dragon Sleeper.
Tiger Mask impressed everybody when he somehow got Tenta up in the Tiger Suplex. Tiger Mask and Liger looked great together, and Tiger Mask rolled Sakaguchi up from behind for the pin.
Tenta finally got hold of Liger to do some damage, but not for long or very much. Liger took over and eventually beat Tenta with a Fisherman's Buster.
Complete Players (Kendo Nagasaki, Wild Samoans)

Choshu's Army (Riki Choshu, Animal Hamaguchi, Killer Khan)

Choshu's Army (Riki Choshu, Animal Hamaguchi, Killer Khan)
Choshu's Army has started having some problems recently. Killer Khan returned from PCW to team with Choshu and Animal Hamaguchi, after Saito and Yatsu went elsewhere.
Masato Tanaka's Complete Players team of the Wild Samoans and Kendo Nagasaki should be a very fun combination of wrestlers.
Choshu's Army went right to work on Nagasaki until he got his first tag to Sika. Hamaguchi took some big shots until tagging Khan. Afa and Khan fought on the floor, then Khan kicked out of the Samoan Drop and flying splash. The Samoans wouldn't be stopped and they did it again, this time pinning Khan.
Choshu really put a pounding on Sika until Nagasaki made the save. Hamaguchi and Choshu stayed in charge and pinned Sika with a spike piledriver.
Hamaguchi and Nagasaki gave a great finish to the match. Nagasaki came back and dominated Hamaguchi, but he didn't go down after the green mist or being beaten with the Kendo stick. The Kendo Kick downed Hamaguchi.
nWo (Antonio Inoki, Masa Chono, Hiro Tenzan)
def.
Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Jun Akiyama

Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Jun Akiyama
The very impressive looking team of Kobashi, Misawa and Akiyama enjoyed being the first to get a shot at the nWo of Inoki, Chono and Tenzan.
The first fall was a great six-man encounter with excellent back and forth wrestling. The nWo used a flurry of moves and Chono beat Akiyama with the STF.
Misawa and Kobashi worked together like a machine, isolating Tenzan. He never got a tag and Kobashi beat Tenzan with a boston crab.
Inoki and Misawa fought like the Int'l title was on the line. Misawa had the advantage, then Inoki, then Misawa. Inoki started to control the match but Misawa wouldn't go down. Another Enzuigiri finished off Misawa and the nWo moves on.
Kensuki Office (Kensuki Sasaki, Hiroshi Hase, Shinya Hashimoto)

WAR (Genichiro Tenryu, Atsushi Onita, W*ING Kanemura
Former two-time International champion Kensuki Sasaki teams up with the Int'l tag team champions Hase and Hashimoto. Tenryu brings with him members of his WAR team the All-Asia champion Atsushi Onita and W*ING Kanemura.
A ridiculous amount of action in the first between these top notch teams. After close to 30 minutes, Hashimoto pinned Onita with the Brainbuster.
Sasaki got the King Buster on Kanemura but Tenryu made the save. Sasaki and Hase began to dominate the action after this, and Tenryu needed to save Kanemura. The second time he broke up the cover, Sasaki and Hase double teamed and Sasaki finished off Kanemura with a Northern Lights Bomb.
Tenryu fought off Hase for awhile but the Golden Arm Hammer ended the night for Tenryu. The tag champs and Sasaki advance.
The Guerreros (LLI)

Giant Baba, Tatsumi Fujinami, Ricky Steamboat

Giant Baba, Tatsumi Fujinami, Ricky Steamboat
The LLI Trios Champions the Guerrero Brothers make their Japanese debut against the star-studded team of Baba, Fujinami and Steamboat.
The home team got a big surprise as Hector Guerrero sent Fujinami to floor and flattened him on the outside. Fujinami failed to make it back in the ring and was counted out.
The Guerreros continued to dominate the match, but needed a lot of time to take the next fall. Gory put away Baba with the Gory Special after Steamboat spent a lot of time breaking up the pin.
The Dragon pinned Chavo with a double chop, but the Guerreros are still alive in the tournament.
