LWA World Tag Team Title #1 Contender’s Triple Threat Elimination MatchAssassins vs. Brainbusters (Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard) vs. Midnight Express (Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton w/Jim Cornette) These teams went at it tooth and nail. All three teams brawled but it was the agility of the Express that helped them eliminate the Brainbusters. Lane pinned Anderson after a ROCKET LAUNCHER. That left the Assassins and Express to go two on two. It wasn’t too long and Lane caught Assassin #2 with a flapjack and got the pin. The Midnight Express will challenge Half-A-Ton for the LWA World Tag Team Titles at Deuces Wild. LWA World Heavyweight Title #1 Contender’s Triple Theat Elimination Match Lou Thesz vs. Buddy Rogers vs. Buzz SawyerThese three fought back and forth. None of them held the advantage for very long. Thesz busted Rogers open. After a wild brawl outside the ring between all three men, Thezs and Rogers end up back in the ring. That’s where Thesz pinned Rogers with a THESZ PRESS. Sawyer rolled back into the ring and the match continued one on one. The action continued inside and outside the ring. Sawyer busted Thesz open with a vicious headbutt. Race covered Backlund but there was no ref. Race went to help the ref and while Race was trying to revive the ref, Backlund quickly rolled out of the ring and grabbed the title belt. Backlund rolled back in the ring and nailed Race from behind with the belt. It sounded like a gunshot and it looked as if Race was out. Backlund discarded the belt and covered Race. The ref came to just in time to make the count. Race, amazingly, kicked out. Race started to battle back but Backlund kept the match close. Race jarred Backlund’s spine from both ends, first with an atomic drop. Then Race turned Backlund around and planted him with a PILEDRIVER. Race covered Backlund and the ref made the three count.

Sheik tried to break Animal’s back with a CAMEL CLUTCH and when that didn’t work, he tried a different tact. It took him three attempts but The Sheik finally got the FIREBALL lit and threw it at Animal. The ref called for the immediate disqualification as Animal went down. Hawk and Ellering rushed in as the ref ushered The Sheik and Abby out of the ring. When the dust settled, Hawk and Ellering helped Animal to his feet as it appeared the FIREBALL was just a glancing blow. LWA World Heavyweight Title Match “Nature Boy” Ric Flair (w/JJ Dillion) vs. LWA World Heavyweight Champion Bruno SammartinoFlair went for a quick win when he attempted a PIN USING ROPES but the power of Sammartino showed through and he kicked out. Flair then went for the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but Sammartino was still to strong and reversed it. Flair continued assaulting Bruno’s legs in an attempt to weaken them for another FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. The action ended up outside the ring where Sammartino whipped Flair into the ring post. This seemed to injure Flair’s back.
