If I was into the current story, I'd probably give it a shot. I wouldn't let a guy that's a jerk on a message board stop me from using a product I wanted.
As far as Varsity goes, he took a character someone else created and changed it against that creators wishes. He had the RIGHT to do it (I'm sure as a CAC character Tom is the guy he needed permission from) but it's not cool, IMO, to act like he was bringing back a character with the blessing and permission of the creator.
Then to lie about it after... ridiculous behavior for a grown man, IMO.
I don't want to get into a personal discussion, there's really no need for that, but let's just say I'm talked to him enough to know I don't really want to talk to him again.

You something Wildfire, you're a hell of a judgmental person. You also make a ton of assumptions.
You just assume some of Tom's closest allies never criticize anything he does, and love everything FG puts out. Wake up pal. Friends don't criticize friends in open forums. They do it behind closed doors and in private.
Now you're assuming again and calling this guy a liar? That's a pretty big accusation pal.
Have you ever read the way Swarm hyped Varsity and has been hyping him for the new Z set with him getting another update? He hypes him as a legendary BOOTLEG. Not a legendary CAC. He puts Varsity in the same class as Crow and Dogma. If Swarm was shitting on the original creator I don't think he'd be hyping Varsity that way.
You obviously have an axe to grind. You might want to do it in private. Dragging people's names through the mud is pretty low and dirty. Especially when you have none of your facts straight.

To everyone else here talking about the Z sets and Swarm, you should really think about adding to that set. Like the guy or not, that has nothing to do with your creativity. I know a promoter who is creating a guy who he will play in his legends fed. You can do that if you want. I never could make it to Galacticon but now I have a chance to make a character because swarm is making it happen. You don't have to like him to admit that it cool.

I lvoe the stuff Tom puts out, but at least Wildfire has balls enough to post his thoughts and say who he is.
Unlike you, a coward that won't register and use the guest option. Man up. And if he would put any of the stuff on the official board, LWPD would delete it immediately.
Please register, share your thoughts. If you rag on WIldfire for legit reasons, Im willing to bet he won't ban you

Looking back at all the crap that has gone down with the FG Community over the years, it's hard to see people in a good light and this is between the parties involved who have done wrong to one another, which works both ways. I have issues with several people and vice versa and the mocking and name calling has taken place out in the open and if these parties can't work things out, it's best to stop the fighting and move on...
I love this game and have many good friends from it and it's a hard thing to move on but for me I'm tired of the drama that has been part of the FG Online community for several years, it's time for me to attempt an enjoy the positive friendships and relationships that stem from playing the game and move away from any bad relationships and hope those on the other end can do the same...

Several things:
@ 'Guest': Item one: What I said about Varsity is FACT.. I know the creator. Whether you call it a bootleg or a CAC is irrelevant, it's the same character created by the same person. (IIRC, the CAC version was changed a bit, but that's not the point)
There is also documented evidence of much of what I said on Chris Ingseroll's old board, if you can to look at it, though I suspect you already know that. If you doubt it, privately contact the creator, he'll tell you.
Item two: FG would look like a far more legitimate and viable company if people were allowed to offer constructive criticism in public. This has actually gotten slightly better since, say the last set. I think you're doing a disservice to you and Tom if you post only positive things. When I see a product with only positive reviews, unless there are ALOT of them, I assume they're planted (The internet is good for that).
I'll give you my personal example: The color cards. I (and others) asked questions about them in regards to quality and price. We were not only not answered, but ridiculed, and a few people (including myself) were banned for it. Had Tom, Swarm, or anyone at FG simply said: 'The cards are X size, on X glossy stock, they look great!' Or something, I probably would have pre-ordered the set. The answer of 'why question, just buy the set!' doesn't cut it. The whole episode soured me on it. I've since had the chance to see them, and they are very nice, but since I also got to see the story (which is not so great, IMO) I didn't buy it.
Item three: I don't have 'an axe to grind', I just haven't enjoyed the FG product or the 'official community for some time, and the fact that it did greatly enjoy it in the past makes me a little sad. It just to be a really fun place where people could throw out ideas, shoot the shit about wrestling, and have a good time. The most fun I had over there was the board member rumble, which was all about dissing people.
Now it mostly exists to shill the product. That's fine if that's what FG wants, but it makes me sad. As to Swarm and company, I actually miss talking to those guys... I enjoy a good arguement, and when they want to they can have a good one. Unfortuntely, I'm not welcome on that board(my home IP is blocked from even viewing it), and none of them are willing to openly post here.
Since I know they're reading, I'll state this for the record... y'all are welcome here. This is an UNMODERATED board. The only thing that I would even consider deleting would be an unwarranted personal attack. (Something like when Swarm called Chris Ingersoll's wife the Cloverfield monster, for instance) You'll note all those guest posts are still here.

I tried to unwarrantedly personally attack The Fire, but I find myself unable to do so because I genuinely like him. He's still not very good at Go, though. Ha! Take that!

*shakes fist at BDS* Sadly, this is true. While I can say I'm pretty good at board games in general, the overall strategy of Go still eludes me. I can almost guarntee that were you ever to come to Boston, I'd whoop you on the B-Ball court though

We'll make a good Go player of you yet. Of this I have no doubts. I'm going back into hiding now.

Now, I argued with you over this one. I felt people were jumping to wild conclusions based on no facts at the time. Things like assuming the price was going to double I thought were ridiculous. I don't remember your roll though other than debating the merits of art for color vs. art for b/w. But I wasn't trying to trash anyone's opinions, I just wanted people to wait and let things play out before grabbing on to the little facts available at the time. Though people on both sides were taking that way too far.
And after having one of the cards, I think they're great. I might actually buy the cardstock version of 2125 to go with my Online version.

The concerns were valid, I think, the price didn't quite double, but it was a signifigant increase.
My concerns at the time were the price and the quality of the cards... both could have been answered easily, but instead it turned into a big argument because instead of an answer, I was told 'it'll be great, just buy them'. That was want I got in trouble for, for suggesting that as the customer, I deserve to know what I'm buying. I feel the same way about the nonsense regarding the identity of new legends signees and cards, to be honest. Tom tried to make himself the center of the attention, instead of the product... it should be the product that is the main thing.
The guys that were asking about the possiblity of a black and white alternative could have also been answered nicely... a simple post from Tom or whoever stating they considered it, but decided for reason A and B not to do so would have pretty much ended the arguement. Again, instead people were mocked and told to just buy the cards.
As it turns out, the cards are really nice, however, consider the debacle of Online, one can't really blame a lack of faith at a new product sight unseen, IMO.

The problem with Online is that it worked better when it was first released than it does now. I don't know how you go from a fully functional gametable to the 70% functional thing it is now.
I still use Online though. The updates to old GWF sets is worth it and I love the stat tracker for it's faults.

That guy right there, specifically his (IMO) lousy treatment by FG, is the reason. I remember way back doing the beta testing, and things were going nicely, when all the sudden it had to be out immediately before it was done... you were supposed to be able to play AGAINST OTHERS on the game table, remember. I was THRILLED... LWA PPVs could be played LIVE.. how cool would that be? Alas, it only worked a couple times in beta, and never in the real version (for me, anyway) IMO, that was the big draw of online. The stat tracker, while nice, isn't anything most people can't set up themselves with a spreadsheet or database. The pbp sim is nice, too, but it has so many quirks and problems I find it to be unusable in it's current state. With respect to Squire (he certainly knows alot more about such things than I do) every recent change seemed to be for the worse... I suspect that's a combination of the difficulty in working with someone else's code and the fact that he's probably not being asked to put much time in. I really hate to be such a negative Nelly, since I was very impressed with the recent Legends set getting out early and the marketing bit with the free color card being really good, but y'all did ask
