Very Cool stuff... I've never really followed any of the Japanese feds other than to watch a match or two, but you definitely have a distinctive vibe going.
It's crazy that the only match the Jacksons win is for the title... worst champs ever?

I think SF definately captures the craziness that Japanese wrestling can sometimes have, while not losing the tradition that underlies the entire thing. But stop posting so much....you're making us look bad! {J/K}

G1 Tag League Starts: Days 1-3 Recap:
I'll do a quick recap of everything relevant: - Otani worked two matches in Korakuen, and lost them both, including the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title. He and Hashimoto have yet to win once in the league. - Brody and Hansen, as well as the Road Warriors, have won every one of their matches decisively, and look like they may finish the league perfect with 10 points when it's all said and done. - Despite starting off with just a draw, Muto and Inoki haven't been able to keep it together, losing every match since then, most of them quickly. - IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi and his partner, Naomichi Marufuji have yet to win a match. Marufuji has taken the fall in both matches, which saw him submit to former partner Minoru Suzuki, and also get pinned by Bruiser Brody in the second match of the tournament. Even if they manage to win the rest of their matches, the chances of them reaching the finals are highly unlikely. - Mike Awesome and Ricky Banderas have dominated their block so far in the league, with Awesome pinning Shinjiro Otani and Chris Hero in under 10 minutes combined. Awesome says that he and Banderas are not only going to win the G1 Tag League, but that after they do, Awesome will be number one contender for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Awesome and Banderas will face current Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi and Naomichi Marufuji on the 10th at the Shiodome Street show.

10/8 Results!:
- Hashimoto and Otani's losing streak in the league ended today as Hashimoto pinned Tanahashi directly with the vertical drop DDT. The match nearly went to a time limit draw. Hashimoto said he is aware that he and Otani will likely not end up near the semifinals now, but he has sent a clear message to Tanahashi. The Warriors continued their dominance of Block B, pinning current IWGP Tag Champions when Hawk used a diving clothesline on Morishima. - In a very long match, Inoki and Muto got their first victory of the tournament when Inoki beat Wagner with an Enzugiri. - Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen continued to run over Block A, much like the Road Warriors in Block B. They faced fellow undefeated team Ricky Banderas and Mike Awesome. Banderas fell to the Knee Drop from Brody. Brody and Hansen said they hope the Warriors can make it to the finals, because they'd like to show them who the most dominant gaijin team in Japan is. - Chris Hero's losing streak continued, as he lost to Takayama, keeping The Kings of Wrestling tied for last place. Takayama and Suzuki are well on their way to becoming semifinalists in the league. Their next match is against Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen. - Jushin Liger and Tiger Mask made a valid claim for contendership in the Jr. Tag Title scene, beating the Champions today. Liger and Tiger Mask say that they want the belts, and they don't care when they get the title shots. - In the opening contest, Aerostar pinned KENTA with a shooting star press. The match was followed by Aerostar issuing a challenge for KENTA's newly won IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship.

Wow, I wouldn't have expected such dominance by the Roadies and Hansen and Brody... hope their evenutal final match happens! I expected Brody and Hansen to tear it up, but Hawk and Animal have flat out caught me by surprise. These are two guys who back in my original LWF, couldn't hold the tag belts for one defense, but they're undefeated in this tag league. It's insane. Finished the Shiodome Street show, some interesting stuff nonetheless. About to post it.

10/10 Results - Awesome pins Tanahashi, Brody and Hansen lose their final match!:
A newsworthy show here, I'll recap: - Mike Awesome, the self proclaimed number one contender, pinned Tanahashi today with the Awesome Bomb. Awesome and Banderas are now in third place for their block, a position they could move from at the next show if they succeed in beating Takayama and Suzuki, which would lead to a three way tie for first place in Block A. If they don't win, then Suzuki and Takayama will take first place for the block, with Brody and Hansen being second place. - The semifinal saw an upset of sorts, as Takayama pinned Hansen with the Everest German to prevent Brody and Hansen from going into the final night undefeated. Takayama said after the match that he and Minoru Suzuki are the strongest team in the league, and that today only proved it. - Morishima and Kensuke, current IWGP Tag Champions, pinned the outside team of Vader and Williams today in a great match between two massive teams. Morishima and Kensuke need to win their match on the 15th to secure a spot on the final night of the tournament. - Muto and Inoki scored their second straight win, this time over Team FMW when Muto pinned Hayabusa. Muto and Inoki will definitely not be in the finals of the tournament, however. They put on one hell of a performance, though. - The Bucks beat two members of YOUNG GUN today, and the Jacksons are confident that they can beat Liger and Tiger Mask. It seems like this match might get signed for the November Budoukan show. (Next post will feature match announcements for that, stay tuned) - The opener was largely forgettable due to the finish.
10/10/10 - Shiodome Street: 1.) Electroshock and Abismo Negro vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. and Jushin Liger went to a double countout. (9:44) 2.) Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson beat Kotaro Suzuki and Ricky Marvin (6:46) when Nick used a facelock into stunner on Marvin. 3.) G1 Tag League; Block B: Keiji Muto and Antonio Inoki [5] beat Masato Tanaka and Hayabusa (FMW) [0] (10:00) when Muto used a moonsault on Hayabusa. 4.) G1 Tag League; Block B: Takeshi Morishima and Kensuke Sasaki [6] beat Vader and Steve Williams [3] (15:59) when Kensuke used a lariat on Vader. 5.) G1 Tag League; Block A: Yoshihiro Takayama and Minoru Suzuki [8] beat Bruiser Brody (AJPW) and Stan Hansen (AJPW) [8] (14:29) when Takayama used an Everest German suplex hold on Hansen. 6.) G1 Tag League; Block A: Mike Awesome and Ricky Banderas [6] beat Hiroshi Tanahashi and Naomichi Marufuji [0] (22:12) when Awesome used an Awesome Bomb on Tanahashi.
Block Standings After Day 5: Block A: 1.) Bruiser Brody (AJPW) and Stan Hansen (AJPW) [8] - Yoshihiro Takayama and Minoru Suzuki [8] 3.) Mike Awesome and Ricky Banderas [6] 4.) Shinya Hashimoto and Shinjiro Otani [2] 5.) Hiroshi Tanahashi and Naomichi Marufuji [0] - Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli [0]
Block B: 1.) Hawk Warrior and Animal Warrior [8] 2.) Takeshi Morishima and Kensuke Sasaki [6] 3.) Keiji Muto and Antonio Inoki [5] 4.) Vader and Steve Williams [3] 5.) Dr. Wagner Jr. and Electroshock [0] - Masato Tanaka and Hayabusa (FMW) [0]

News: 11/7 announcement, two huge main event matches!:
During the post-match press conference at Shiodome Street today, New Japan president announced that they would debut at the Budokan on November 7th with a huge show to be headlined by a New Japan vs. All Japan dream match, as well as Hiroshi Tanahashi's first defense of his IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
As the president was about to announce Tanahashi/Hashimoto, Mike Awesome stormed the press conference and demanded to be added into the title match. The president quickly changed the match to Awesome vs. Tanahashi. Given Tanahashi's poor performance in the G1 Tag League, including being pinned by Awesome today, it seems like his number might be up.
And in the co-main event, Keiji Muto will lead the Musketeers into battle against an All Japan team, lead by Kenta Kobashi. He is joined by Mitsuharu Misawa and Akira Taue. This is the first time these men have ever met in this kind of match, and it should be one hell of a bout.
Rumors were flying around that this show would also feature KENTA vs. Aerostar for the Jr. Title (building off of Team Mexico beating YOUNG GUN on the last show), as well as the winners of the G1 Tag League challenging Morishima and Kensuke (assuming they don't win) for the IWGP Tag Titles. Another rumor was that we'd see Bucks vs. Liger and Tiger Mask for the Jr. Tag Titles. One this is for sure, we're not going to know anything else until the Tag League ends.
11/7/10 - "FANTASTIC STORY IN BUDOKAN" (WPW/G+/PPV/njpw.tv/iPPV); Tokyo Nippon Budokan: 1.) Keiji Muto, Yuji Nagata, and Shinya Hashimoto vs. Kenta Kobashi (AJPW), Mitsuharu Misawa (AJPW), and Akira Taue (AJPW) 2.) IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Hiroshi Tanahashi defends vs. Mike Awesome

10/15 Results!:
Some big news out of this show. - Tanahashi and Marufuji finished their run in the G1 Tag League today, losing all five matches. That's not the biggest part, they managed to lose a match to a team who lost in the opening match of the same show in Hero and Claudio. YOUNG GUN finishes their block as the only team with 0 points. - In contrast, Hawk and Animal continue to dominate, winning their final match decisively against a team that had already competed in the second match of the show. This puts them at first place for their block, and means we will see them take on Brody and Hansen in the semifinals. - Wagner and Electroshock scored a hell of a big upset today, submitting one half of the current IWGP Tag Champions with the Electrolock. That's not enough to get them into the finals, but they do have another match coming up on the 19th against Tanaka and Hayabusa that could put them pretty far away from last place points-wise. - Vader and Williams dominated Team FMW early on in the show. It seems like they had the momentum going into the match with the Road Warriors, but Hawk and Animal had other plans. - In other big news, Takayama and Suzuki finished out the tag league undefeated, submitting Ricky Banderas in a great match. This means that Takayama and Suzuki will face the IWGP Tag Champions in the other semifinal match. The 27th should be an interesting night.
10/15/10 (TV) - Tokyo Ariake Colosseum: 1.) G1 Tag League; Block A: Shinya Hashimoto and Shinjiro Otani [4] beat Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli [0] (6:39) when Otani used a spiral bomb on Hero. 2.) G1 Tag League; Block B: Vader and Steve Williams [5] beat Masato Tanaka and Hayabusa (FMW) [0] (5:25) when Williams used the Oklahoma Stampede on Tanaka. 3.) G1 Tag League; Block A: Yoshihiro Takayama and Minoru Suzuki [10] beat Mike Awesome and Ricky Banderas [6] (18:42) when Suzuki used a choke sleeper on Banderas. 4.) G1 Tag League; Block B: Dr. Wagner Jr. and Electroshock [2] beat Takeshi Morishima and Kensuke Sasaki [6] (13:33) when Electroshock used the electrolock on Sasaki. 5.) G1 Tag League; Block A: Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli [2] beat Hiroshi Tanahashi and Naomichi Marufuji [0] (24:13) when Castagnoli used a Ricola Bomb on Marufuji. 6.) G1 Tag League; Block B: Hawk Warrior and Animal Warrior [10] beat Vader and Steve Williams [5] (8:11) when the Warriors used the Double Impact on Williams.
Block Standings After Day 6 (Essentially, they're the final standings): Block A: 1.) Yoshihiro Takayama and Minoru Suzuki [10] 2.) Bruiser Brody (AJPW) and Stan Hansen (AJPW) [8] 3.) Mike Awesome and Ricky Banderas [6] 4.) Shinya Hashimoto and Shinjiro Otani [4] 5.) Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli [2] 6.) Hiroshi Tanahashi and Naomichi Marufuji [0]
Block B: 1.) Hawk Warrior and Animal Warrior [10] 2.) Takeshi Morishima and Kensuke Sasaki [6] 3.) Keiji Muto and Antonio Inoki [5] - Vader and Steve Williams [5] 5.) Dr. Wagner Jr. and Electroshock [2] 6.) Masato Tanaka and Hayabusa (FMW) [0]

G1 Tag Wrap Up - 10/19 and 10/24 Results!:
- Tanahashi's losing streak came to an end in the semifinal of the 10/19 show, as he pinned Morishima with the High Fly Flow maneuver. Tanahashi said post-match that facing someone the size of Morishima will help him in preparation of the match with Mike Awesome. - Dr. Wagner Jr. and Electroshock wrapped up the preliminaries of the G1 Tag League, beating Team FMW, making Team FMW the only other winless team along with Tanahashi and Marufuji. Wagner said he's aiming for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship. - But he will have to wait, because after KENTA and Kotaro Suzuki lost to Aerostar and Banderas, Aerostar challenged KENTA again. KENTA answered with a slap to the face, answering emphatically with a yes. The match is set for November 7th in the Budokan.
10/19/10 (TV) - Tokyo Differ Ariake: 1.) Toshiaki Kawada beat Erick Stevens (1:19) with the gamengiri. 2.) Aerostar (LLI) and Ricky Banderas beat Kotaro Suzuki and KENTA (13:12) when Banderas used the TKO on Suzuki. 3.) Yoshihiro Takayama, Minoru Suzuki, and Katsuhiko Nakajima beat Shinya Hashimoto, Keiji Muto, and Antonio Inoki (14:49) when Takayama used the Everest German suplex hold on Inoki. 4.) G1 Special Junior Tag Match ~: Jushin Liger, Nick Jackson, and Matt Jackson beat Abismo Negro, Psicosis, and Super Delfin (M-Pro) (7:20) when Liger used a Liger Bomb on Delfin. 5.) G1 Climax Special Tag Match ~: Hiroshi Tanahashi, Naomichi Marufuji, Chris Hero, and Claudio Castagnoli beat Takeshi Morishima, Kensuke Sasaki, Hawk Warrior, and Animal Warrior (31:25) when Tanahashi used the High Fly Flow on Morishima. 7.) G1 Tag League; Block B: Dr. Wagner Jr. and Electroshock [4] beat Masato Tanaka and Hayabusa (FMW) [0] (22:15) when Electroshock used a jumping tombstone piledriver on Hayabusa.
The big news of the tour, of course, is here. The G1 Tag Final PPV. - The Rygoku return was announced for December as an Antonio Inoki produced WRESTLE LAND show. Details on that coming soon. - During the PPV, the company announced 12/26 as the date of the Super J Cup, which will be a one night tournament, and will take place in Korakuen Hall. - Also during the PPV, WRESTLE KINGDOM in TOKYO DOME was announced for January 4th. This will also be a PPV. - The show opened up with the unbeaten Takayama and Suzuki defeating IWGP Tag Team Champions in a great match. Takayama cut a promo after the match, saying that they will beat Sasaki and Morishima again for the tag belts. - The other unbeaten team, the Road Warriors, beat Brody and Hansen in an all out brawl. This means that the finals of the tournament are between two undefeated teams! - Aerostar scored a big win today, pinning Abismo Negro in a special 8-man tag match. Aerostar promised that he would beat KENTA for the Jr. title on November 7th. - The All Japan team of Kobashi and Misawa fought their former All Japan partners in Kawada and Akiyama, which saw Misawa put Akiyama away in another great tag match. Keiji Muto cut a promo on Kobashi after the match. Muto says that he's the true legend of puroresu, and that Kobashi has no place in a New Japan ring. It seems as though they might be leading to a one-on-one match. - The Musketeers beat LEGEND in a hotly contested match, with Hashimoto pinning the returning Giant Baba. Baba said that in the G1 Tag League next year, he will be teaming with Andre the Giant. Pretty sure he's not joking anymore. - The semifinal saw YOUNG GUN beat WESTERN THUNDER in a long match, with Tanahashi pinning Banderas with the Sling Blade. Tanahashi told Awesome that he will suffer the same fate on November 7th. Awesome's response? A Tokyo sized Awesome Bomb to the champion. - And in the finals of the G1 Tag League, Takayama and Suzuki beat the Road Warriors when Takayama used the knee lift on Animal. An awesome end to the tournament, and now added to the November 7th show is Takayama and Suzuki vs. Kensuke and Morishima for the IWGP Tag Titles.
10/24/10, "G1 TAG FINAL" (WPW/PPV) - Tokyo Rygoku Kokugikan: 1.) 11/7 Card Complete, WRESTLE LAND vol. 1 main event, Super J Cup Lineup!:
Here is the final card for the upcoming Budokan show. The show features a lot of All Japan vs. New Japan matches, including a six-man rematch to Brody and Hansen vs. The Road Warriors. Also, YOUNG GUN take on the British Bulldogs and AJPW's Junior ace, Yoshinari Ogawa. This is a huge card, and will be broadcast nearly every way possible: Free TV, internet PPV, PPV...it's pretty crazy.
And also, there's the main event. It seems like Tanahashi may need everything he's got to beat Awesome given the immense momentum that Awesome has built in the past couple of tours, whereas Tanahashi has stalled since winning the title. It will be an interesting night in the Budokan, that's for sure.

11/7 Results: New Champions, Kobashi pins Muto, more:
- The big news out of today's show is that Hiroshi Tanahashi did in fact defeat Mike Awesome to retain his IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Tanahashi wrestled a smart match reminiscent of Muhammad Ali's rope-a-dope strategy, and when the monster Awesome was worn out, Tanahashi rolled him up to win the match. Tanahashi will now defend his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Antonio Inoki at the WRESTLE LAND debut show. - In the semifinal, Kenta Kobashi's All Japan team beat The Musketeers in a classic bout. Kobashi pinned Muto directly with the lariat, and the crowd was stunned. Muto issued a one-on-one challenge to Kobashi in the post-match press conference, saying Muto has had dreams of a clash between the two. Presumably, this is going to happen at the Tokyo Dome. - All Japan won all of the AJPW vs. NJPW matches today except for one, when Marufuji pinned Ogawa rather quickly with the Pole Shift. Marufuji said that he will defend New Japan from any outsiders. Meanwhile, Brody, Hansen, and Ace defeated the Road Warriors and Erick Stevens. The Warriors tore apart one of the conference rooms after the match, demanding another match with Brody and Hansen. - The IWGP Tag Titles changed today as well, as Takayama and Suzuki defeated Kensuke Sasaki and Takeshi Morishima in a brutal, hard hitting match. They said they would take on any challengers. It will certainly be interesting to see who will challenge them first. - KENTA lost his IWGP Jr. Title on his first defense to an outsider in the luchador Aerostar. Aerostar won the match in a great super junior type clash. Aerostar was then challenged by KENTA's YOUNG GUN teammate, Kotaro Suzuki. Nothing was confirmed, but it looks likely that the two will face at WRESTLE LAND vol. 1 early next month.
11/7/10 - "FANTASTIC STORY IN BUDOKAN" (WPW/G+/PPV/njpw.tv/iPPV); Tokyo Nippon Budokan: 1.) Giant Baba beat Masato Tanaka (12:00) when Baba used the running neckbreaker drop. 2.) Steve Williams and Vader beat Claudio Castagnoli and Ricky Banderas (3:30) when Williams used the Oklahoma Stampede on Banderas. 3.) IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship: Aerostar (LLI) beat KENTA (17:13) with a shooting star press to become the 3rd champion. 4.) Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson, and Chris Hero beat Jushin Liger, Tiger Mask, and Dr. Wagner Jr. (9:11) when Nick used a facelock into stunner on Wagner. 5.) Naomichi Marufuji, Kotaro Suzuki, and Ricky Marvin beat Yoshinari Ogawa (AJPW), Davey Boy Smith (AJPW), and Dynamite Kid (AJPW) (5:12) when Marufuji used the Pole Shift on Ogawa. 6.) Bruiser Brody (AJPW), Stan Hansen (AJPW), and Johnny Ace (AJPW) beat Hawk Warrior, Animal Warrior, and Erick Stevens (13:25) when Brody used a King Kong Knee Drop on Stevens. 7.) IWGP Tag Team Championship: Yoshihiro Takayama and Minoru Suzuki beat Kensuke Sasaki and Takeshi Morishima (15:19) when Takayama used a super knee lift on Sasaki to become the 2nd champions. 8.) Kenta Kobashi (AJPW), Mitsuharu Misawa (AJPW), and Akira Taue (AJPW) beat Keiji Muto, Yuji Nagata, and Shinya Hashimoto (37:18) when Kobashi used a Burning lariat on Muto. 9.) IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Hiroshi Tanahashi beat Mike Awesome (22:14) with a lightning cradle. (1st defense)

WRESTLE LAND vol. 1 Card!:
New Japan announced the final card for WRESTLE LAND vol. 1, taking place in early December at the Sumo Palace in Tokyo. The show is headlined by the previously confirmed match of Hiroshi Tanahashi defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against WRESTLE LAND producer Antonio Inoki.
Announced today are some particularly interesting matches. The opening match is a 5 vs. 5 match between LEGEND and WESTERN THUNDER. For those who missed the 11/7 show, Nick and Matt Jackson joined WESTERN THUNDER. Pretty interesting match here, especially given that they're bringing in Rikidozan.
Second match is between Team All Japan and the Road Warriors. Another big match here, could possibly go either way. The Warriors have been on a roll since the G1 Tag League, it may just continue here.
Hashimoto will take on Minoru Suzuki in a pretty important match, because Tokyo Sports reported that it may lead to who Tanahashi (or Inoki) defends the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against in the Tokyo Dome on January 4th.
- Semifinal is a YOUNG GUN vs. Musketeers six-man tag. The YOUNG GUN side is clearly overmatched when it comes to pure skill, can the predominantly junior heavyweight team compensate for their lack of experience by using their flashy Junior style?
12/11/10 - "WRESTLE LAND vol. 1" (TV); Tokyo Rygoku Kokugikan: 1.) 5 vs. 5 Elimination Tag: Jushin Liger, Dr. Wagner Jr, Giant Baba, Tiger Mask, and Rikidozan (NWA) vs. Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson, Mike Awesome, Chris Hero, and Erick Stevens 2.) Toshiaki Kawada and Jun Akiyama vs. Hawk Warrior and Animal Warrior 3.) Special Single Match: Shinya Hashimoto vs. Minoru Suzuki 4.) Naomichi Marufuji, KENTA, and Kotaro Suzuki vs. Keiji Muto, Yuji Nagata, and Shinjiro Otani 5.) IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Hiroshi Tanahashi defends vs. Antonio Inoki

WRESTLE LAND vol. 1 Results!:
Pretty much not a lot noteworthy. Tanahashi defeated Inoki in a short main event that saw Tanahashi pretty much dominate the leader of LEGEND. After the match, Tanahashi was challenged for the championship by former Junior champion Shinjiro Otani, who pinned Tanahashi's YOUNG GUN tag partner, Naomichi Marufuji, earlier in the night. The match was then made for January 4th in the Tokyo Dome.
That's not the only match announced for 1/4, though. Keiji Muto pleaded with Kenta Kobashi to answer his challenge, and Kobashi did just that, saying that he indeed WILL take on Muto on 1/4 in a first time ever singles match!
During the post-show press conference, a rematch between The Musketeers and YOUNG GUN on January 4th was also brought up. This would be an interesting situation, given that Muto and Otani, two of the four members, are already competing in other matches, unless they go with Nagata and Hashimoto vs. two members of YOUNG GUN.
12/11/10 - "WRESTLE LAND vol. 1" (TV); Tokyo Rygoku Kokugikan: 1.) 5 vs. 5 Elimination Tag: Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson, Mike Awesome, Chris Hero, and Erick Stevens beat Jushin Liger, Dr. Wagner Jr, Giant Baba, Tiger Mask, and Rikidozan (NWA) (34:14) when Mike Awesome used an Awesome Bomb on Liger. Order of elimination: - Nick Jackson eliminated Rikidozan - Giant Baba eliminated Erick Stevens - Giant Baba eliminated Chris Hero - Mike Awesome eliminated Tiger Mask - Dr. Wagner Jr. eliminated Nick Jackson - Mike Awesome eliminated Giant Baba - Mike Awesome eliminated Dr. Wagner Jr. - Jushin Liger eliminated Matt Jackson - Mike Awesome eliminated Jushin Liger. 2.) Hawk Warrior and Animal Warrior beat Toshiaki Kawada and Jun Akiyama (9:39) with a Double Impact to Akiyama. 3.) Special Single Match: Shinya Hashimoto beat Minoru Suzuki (12:20) with a vertical drop DDT. 4.) Keiji Muto, Yuji Nagata, and Shinjiro Otani beat Naomichi Marufuji, KENTA, and Kotaro Suzuki (15:50) when Otani used a face wash on Marufuji. 5.) IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Hiroshi Tanahashi beat Antonio Inoki (13:36) with the High Fly Flow (2nd defense)
