Dragon Ball Z is a good example of all the bad things about Anime....
Most of that other stuff is American, but drawn Anime style. Boondocks is a great show, but I wouldn't call in anime, it's defintely produced by Adult Swim.
Full Metal Alchemist (the orignal series) was on Adult Swim, too, so you could well have seen it... it's definitely the kinda show you have to watch in order from beginning to end, though, otherwise you'd be pretty lost.
They have had some good stuff on Adult Swim, if you stay up AFTER their shows(Robot Chicken, ATHF and the like)... it used to be a couple nights a week they'd have new stuff, but they don't seem to have as set a schedule anymore.

I used to be into anime/manga. I didn't get to watch much due to the price. However, I did find ways of watching Death Note. I enjoyed reading Fruits Basket, Death Note, Gunslinger Girl, and Steel Angel Kurumi. I don't think SAK was big, but I really enjoyed it. Also, GG was heart wrenching but the manga was stalled or something.

Deathnote was pretty good... I read the manga for that one, rather than watch the show. Perhaps I'll start an Anime thread so I stop taking over all these other ones Back to Movies: What did you guys think of the Star Trek remake movie? I was massively skeptical going in, but I actually really enjoyed it... I left hoping they spin it into a new series.

I liked the restart of Star Trek. It had some good stuff in it. Not sure if I want to see a new series of movies, but if they do I'll watch.

I thought it was especially slick how they placed it in an alternative universe in the story(but not until the very end) and not just by saying so in the press. I could just see the trekkie out there taking notes about what was wrong, only to be foiled when Spock tells then they've created a new timeline.

Yes, the relaunch of Star Trek was very excellent... I just watched most of this on TNT yesterday, will need to see it from the very beginning but I really like this film and I'm not a huge Stathum fan but like him in this...

Took Kelly to see The Expendables yesterday....she loved it! It was a fun, 80's style action hero movie.

This weekend's viewing... Held up well...hope they do a second movie. Did not hold up well. Still love this movie every time I see it...I think it might be misplayed as a horror instead of suspense. Load of crap...made for TV-like plot and execution.

Yeah, the FF movie(s) were doomed (no pun intended) as soon as the did the casting.
I remember watching Blair Witch, and not hating it, but it's been so thoroughly parodies and made fun of since I have trouble remembering what the real movie was like. I would think it wouldn't hold up well in the prank-show era of TV.

One man's opinion on Blair Witch...
It was completly innovative. This is, to my knowledge, the first movie to advertise heavily on the internet setting up the 'false' background for the film. It was also the first one to use a complete 'shakey cam' mode.
Yes...it has been heavily parodied...but so has Wizard of Oz...Casablanca...Star Wars, etc.
My 18 yo daughter saw it for the first time this summer...and was blown away...as were many of her friends...
I think it holds up.

Yeah, the FF movie(s) were doomed (no pun intended) as soon as the did the casting. Which part of the casting? I did feel that the Thing and Johnny held up well with the actors. I think, if anything, the best FF stories are too big for the screen...like Galactus, for example.

Huh... It's true it was innovative, but I wouldn't think an 18 year old would be into it... guess the parodies and such are coloring my memory of it. I'm pretty sure I saw it in the theatre when it was first out.
