I watched this for the first time this weekend and think its one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'm sorry I didn't watch it until now Double Indemnity was a great movie...for me...Barbara Stanwick's best work...though I do have a problem with McMurray as a believable heel.

This weekend's viewing: Sophomoric comedy with some good moments. I was really surprised they didn't do more with the ending. The Good: Hondo Laine is a role that Wayne played best. The Bad: Never was a L'Amour fan...a bit sappy. The Ugly: Geraldine Paige (corrected: Page) was PUTRID in her role as the female lead. How in the Hell was she nominated for this role is beyond me. Unsung talent: Ward Bond, Michael Pate, James Arness and Leo Gordon I'm not a big war film buff, but "In Harm's Way" is a classic. I think it plays better as a strategic movie than an emotional one. If your wife makes you watch a chick flick...you could do worse than this one. Really just a TV movie of the week...but I giggled a couple of times.

This weekend's viewing: Sophomoric comedy with some good moments. I was really surprised they didn't do more with the ending. I happened to catch this OnDemand while off work from surgery a couple weeks ago. I happened to see it cost 15 mil to make, but only made $8 mil in the box office. Huge money loser. Not that I thought it'd be The 40 Year Old Virgin, but wow, it lost tons of money

@ Graymar I didn't have a problem with Fred McMurray being a heel maybe because I never liked My Three Sons that much. Here's one that terrified me as a kid and made me stay away from the fire place for a long time. I haven't seen the movie in over 20 years so I'm not sure how terrified I'd be now. It has the typical plot where a woman (Kim Darby) does what everyone tells her not to and unboards the fire place which turns out to be a gateway to hell.

Maybe, I just don't like Fred McMurray...although, I did like him in the Disney movies (Shaggy Dog; Absent Minded Professor; etc.) and the Caine Mutany (but then, who wasn't good opposite Bogie?). I never thought him as very 'threatening'...thus the comment about a heel.

This is one of favorite gangster type movies next to the godfather. The movie tells the story of Noodles ( Robert De Niro) through 3 different stages of his life childhood, young adulthood and old age. The movie is long (4 hours ?) and there is an shorter version but I dont recommend watching it because the shorter version really takes a lot away from the movie. The movie has flashes between the 3 parts of his life as the story develops and the short version cuts out a lot of it.

This is one movie I think has fallen under the radar over the years. Its a part comedy part drama and part mystery that has a creepy Divinci code feeling to it.

If so, very good suspense / scare factor.
