That's really cool... I was kinda small when 2087 was first out (12 to be exact) so I didn't really ever think there could be anything like a gaming community, but it sounds like it must have been really cool.

I always liked Exo-King. Just liked the look of the card.
I bet I am in the minority

I agree.. the Royal Court was awesome... I always wanted them to be just a little bit better stat wise, so they could be Thantos' horsemen instead of Terror and Executioner.... Terror I always liked better on his own.

The Greek Gods were always my favorites. Gave them the big push up until their retirement.
I agree with Wildfire, always saw Comrade Terror as brick red.

Terror I always liked better on his own. Yeah, I really wanted them to be better as well. I still used them at the top of the card whenever I could.

I always thought Lord Nexus was the Lex Luger of the set (and booked him as such), anyone else think of him this way?

I remember a while back Knapik was thinking of 're-imagining' 2087... doing updated movesets for all the cards, and making the power in line with the power creep of today's sets.
Tom nixed it, IIRC, but I was very intrigued by it... something I may do myself if I ever decide to do 2087 again.
What would you like to change? Here's a few random thoughts I had:
-- Omega wouldn't be useless... I'd probably just make it easy and use the 2084 Omega from Mike M.'s set... I'd like Omega in 2087 to be more like the way the 'E' is using Jerry Lawler right now, as opposed to how they used Flair before he left.
-- As such, I'd upgrade DK to be a match for him.
-- Vanity and the Space Croppers would get small upgrades, so that the tag team scene is more fun... the Gladiators are too dominant in 2087, IMO.
-- I'd make Actagon and Massacre a little more tag-oriented. I think Brute and Proteus are good tag cards, while Actagon and Massacre are really main event guys stuck in a tag team.. since they never break out of that and become main event singles stars, I'd fix that.
-- The Titans/SoD I'd leave alone... I like Pulsar's story, so he should suck. Maybe a little relative upgrade for Ghenghis Khan.. he's OK for 2087, but becomes really useless really quickly.

Rather then the stats redone, I'd like to see all of 2087 re-imagined. Same basic characters, but with a more modern twist and all new storylines.

To me the storylines are pretty timeless. The movesets are not, of course, and Omega never really should've been that weak if he was supposed to be the greatest of all time. With the exception of Pulsar's hair (and maybe Star Warrior's) they all stand the test of time visually to me, as well.
I think Tom and Chuck came up with an almost perfect set that stands the test of time as far as Tom's story of basic good versus evil and Chuck's out of this world designs.
(of course, since I've been a fan and follower since I was about ten I could be biased)

I'd have to say Comrade Terror... he's not green in my world though, but rather a brick red. Another victim of colorization! Turner was right...the classics shouldn't be colorized! 'My' Thantos was gray! For an underdog...I always pulled for Pit Viper...sort of a face with an attitude. I was a bit disappointed with where Viper went when he turned. The original story asked the question of how two different men react to their 'scarring'. In the beginning, Viper and Thantos took different roads...but Viper's turned ended that...even though he turned back later.

My Thantos was always gray too.. that's funny. I think there was all together too much green in the official coloring... Mutant was always more brownish to me.
I agree with Mark that the stories themselves are pretty timeless... it's not like Comrade Terror is ACTUALLY Russian, after all.
I actually really like Pit Viper's story as a whole.. I think the brief heel turn made sense, I just didn't like him teaming with Krakan. Feuding with the Titans, yes. Teaming up with the guy that scarred him... not unusual in wrestling, I suppose, but that always bugged me.

This is funny. I always saw Comrade Terror as green because of the reptile skin look, but I can see how red would have worked. Mutant to me was always a blue-green color. Wolf is shockingly in exactly the color scheme I always had him wearing (and I can prove this since I colored the cards as a pre-teen back in '87!). Star Warrior is for that matter too, but that outfit kind of screams that particular color scheme to me for some reason. Killer Queen is probably the most different from the colors I imagined.
