The qualifying matches are getting old I miss the days when matches on a big show or PPV had a real reason to happen ...They've always done King of the Ring qualifying matches. They've done it for a while but I dont think it's always been like that. I dont remember any sort of qualifying match back in the 80's. I could be wrong though. it would be interesting to find out when the WWE started using qualifying matches. I have no idea how to where to start looking for that information.

What I meant was they've always done them since KOTR became a big event. Back when it was a house show, it didn't really matter.

I like qualifying matches, makes it feel more important, IMO.
What did you guys that watched think of Punk on commentary? I though he was OK, but could have been alot better... they didn't have him as a full heel announcer (Cole is that, I guess) but more of a tweener, which didn't work that well for me.
Getting rid of Cole and having Punk the heel announcer, and Lawler the face one? That might be somethin'.

I haven't heard Punk yet...(I usually record on Sat to watch on Sun)...first, Cole sucks...no...not heel sucks...but XPac sucks. Secondly, they need someone to do play by play...not two color commentators (which is what they are doing now). Unfortunately, they have Styles (through tomorrow) who could do play by play well, but are not using him.

Yeah, that's true... no one does play by play... in fact, some matches turn into an after thought if Cole and Lawler start bickering about something.
What they really need is JR back.

I'm glad to see the Miz win the belt he's come a long way from when he first came in. See, and I fully admit I rarely watch today's wrestling, but I think the Miz character is real good, but when I see him become world champ... Don't want to think of him as world title material. Good and enjoyable gimmick/character, but just, ugh, world champ. Belts mean nothing anymore, so...doesn't matter anyways

In the old days, yes I agree 100%.
Today, with so much TV to fill, and no squashes, you're not an upper mid-carder until you've had a world title run, really.
I think Miz is the best heel in the WWE right now, he's great on the mic, and decent in the ring. I think it's his time. I just hope they don't try to turn him face.. that would be even worse than Stone Cold Randy Orton.

The Miz has come a LONG way in the ring from when he started. He always had the charisma and character to be the "character" of The Miz, but is in ring work was very weak to start, so we could never take him seriously. Now, he is putting on good matches pretty regularly and when you match him up with someone like Daniel Bryan, whose style is 180 degrees different then Miz, you get some great {current day} wrestling. Is the Miz ever gonna be the next Stone Cold or Hogan, I would bet no, but will he be an even bigger heel now with the strap - yes! I never put over The Miz, but he has earned some respect through his in-ring work. The other upside, maybe we can get some different main event matches now as well.

I'm not a big Miz fan, but I agree that he has come a long way from being a MTV reality star to pro wrestler who has a following and is hated too. I don't see him as a WWE Champion, but if the WWE was smart give him more then 3 months as the champion and make him a credible champion, but with todays ADD society long title reigns are for not...

Exactly, if you let Miz become a serious main event level guy and use him to take some stars from solid mid-card to upper mid / main event.
