I agree, which is why it's such a shame he has to do stupid stuff like the Varsity thing.

This argument is a little intellectually dishonest. What Swarm did was more like being a fan of Mickey Mouse, getting a job at Disney and then getting to write something for Mickey Mouse. Varsity at this point belongs to Filsinger Games as has been previously mentioned.
It won't make a difference but Christian is credited as the creator of Varsity in the book. Varsity also got probably the longest entry in the book.

If it hasn't been said here, the fucking book is 185 pages. This thing is an absolute monster of a book.
The way it works is you have the Hall of Champions zone. That's where the big belt is defended, the tag team champs can travel around. The tag team division is running on the Chikara point system.
Then when you go from there, every territory has a belt special to it. All-Earth fights for the Earth World Title. The Assassin territory fights for the Death Masque, etc. It's fairly interesting just seeing how each territory works and how it interacts with the other territories. Swarm wasn't kidding, you could literally take this set and play forever with the way it's set up.

Also, the Master Assassin looks like Dark Helmet and it's pretty funny.

Yeah, Master Assassin is definitely based on Dark Helmet. When you read his bio, it becomes crystal clear.

Yeah, the part about his facebook page is pretty funny.
I like the concept of the Death Masque too.

I really like the addition of the Jamie B. Wilson arena aka the JBW in the Danger Zone.
Class move by Swarm and co.

Well, the creator of the controversial character that shall remain nameless and I have something in common because I wish the thing had been left out of this, too. It would have saved a lot of complaining and acrimony and a whole lot of space in the book that could have gone to people's characters who actually wanted/deserved it.
The guy doesn't want his character used? Fine by me because I had no plans on using it anyway after all the complaining before the fact. The whole thing has really soured me on even seeing the card. Hey, I'll even mail it back if he wants. After paying 30 dollars for TEN-PLUS EDITIONS WORTH OF CARDS I can afford to. Hey wait, I broke the rules: I focused on one of the hundreds of positives instead of the one perceived negative!
A lot of credit and then some. The guy must have been seeing GWFZ characters in his sleep after this. And working with so many different people on getting the looks and details just right? AND doing other work besides at the same time? No easy task.

Based on the size of the book I don't think anyone's character got short changed. And I don't think anyone's character got turned down (unless it was a potentially inflammatory one). You want to bitch about Christian, fine. Fact of the matter was - Christian didn't want the character in there. The powers that be knew that Christian didn't want the card in there. The card is in there. Somehow that's Christian's fault?? Ah, OK.

Very interesting that in a creator- designed set, the creator's wishes were not taken into consideration.

I wrote IF HE DIDN'T WANT IT THERE, THEN THAT MAKES TWO OF US BECAUSE NEITHER DO I! And if they'd have just kept it out then there wouldn't have been all of this nonsense. Seriously, if it's causing people to get so bent out of shape I would honestly mail the card right back and never even think twice about it again because there are ABOUT 130 OTHER CARDS TO FOCUS ON CREATED BY PEOPLE WHO WANTED THEM THERE! I'd rather see the focus on those than complaining about one old character. How damn hard is that to understand? I didn't want to read page after page of this any more than he wanted to see the character put there in the first place. Hopefully when they do the planned edit they'll just take all mention of the character out and let everyone get on with it.

I agree with you completely Mark.. the fact that Rob chose to focus on this one character, and them come here and point it out, where he knows Christian will see it, is pretty shitty, IMO. That was my point. I'm not trying to hate on the set or anything else, just the fact that one guy, who happens to not only be a friend but is probably the most creative guy I've ever talked to, has to get tweaked over this repeatedly.
If you'd like to move on and discuss other stuff... please feel free... I've said my piece.

12 pages on this board about Swarm's set. Damn, he must be eating this shit up. Anyhow, didn't ya'll get this out your systems 4 years ago when Rob released Varsity the first time? filsingergames.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fan&action=display&thread=254I mean, shit. If you want to get technical about it, my man is just updating a character he already put out. Hell, he coulda easily not said anything about the dude who "originally" put him out. But he did. And really, this thread shoulda ended with this comment right here: Filsinger Games is no doubt in complete rights to use the character and the original writing that was submitted. Christian would be one of the first people to admit that...They own the character and don't need his permission to use it. He's a smart guy and he understands that. If my man knows this, then ya'll need to know this too.
