It's the damndest thing on the message boards: when something gets released online, people complain that they can't get it in cardstock. When something comes out in cardstock, they want it in digital/online!
aCe free agent pack is released in cardstock, giving us the first "hard copy" version of one popular character and a brand new cool tag team, and about half the people ask "why isn't this online/when will it be"? When the alternate LOW persona cards are released online in the Promoter, people just want to know why they can't get them in cardstock.
Someone please explain this.

I don't know. It's not that hard to write the Online only stats down on a card and use it that way. Likewise. It's not that hard to make a CaC of the aCe guys.
It is tough though. You've got a divided user base that wants everything in different mediums.

Not me. I want it all in cardstock. I'm easy that way.

I use both cardstock and online. Would it be nice to have everything in both mediums? Sure, but it is a process. Some people don't think and just like to bitch and moan.

I think the problem with these is they are aCe. aCe has been Online only basically since 2121. Granted they are GWF ready but you still have the GWF guys who do online stuff only. Personally I use Desktop alot so it doesn't bother me either way. I love having the cardstock but can settle for online. Both is preferable though

It's also different people doing the complaining... some people want everything online, and some want cards.
Until FG decides to offer everything they have as both, someone's going to ask about what's not offered every single time, it's the nature of the product having two forms of delivery that are somewhat random in their delivery.
It's just like a book. Some come out in hard cover, then go to paperback later. Some just start in paper. Some come out with both at the same time, so if someone wants what's not offered, they're gonna ask about it.
For the ACE stuff in particular, I would have preferred it online just for the price point... I'm no willing to pay $15 for 4 cards, two of which don't even have new art, even though I REALLY want to read the booklet. If it was a PDF at a lower price point I probably would have got it for the booklet.

That's a steep, veryyyyyyyy steep, price to pay for only four cards and two are just cards that colored different. You must be one completist to pay that much. Wow. I could understand $8 or max $10...guess the market will see if the price is worth the money

I paid the $15 to be a completist, but also to be supportive of aCe. To be honest, whether it is aCe or GWF, I read the books but that doesn't mean too much to me. I use the guys I want the way I want to use them.

See, I'm the opposite. I feel like anyone can put together a set of stats.... it's the character development and the story that I'm most interested in. Wether I use all, some, or none of it depends how much I like it, but I do value reading it greatly.

I think the issue is that they just did 4 cards in color. I bet printing would've been cheaper to do a 10 card set.

Yeah, or a similar price anyway.

I balked at $15 at first, until I realized how much I spent on regular SE/LE legends cards right after Christmas. If you look at these as individual SE/LE cards it breaks down to $3 a piece, plus $3 shipping (the base FG shipping rate) which is included in the price. So it's really only $12 plus $3 shipping for a total of $15. That's a dollar more per card than the old black and white special edition cards, which makes sense since the move to color made the regular sets more expensive, too. Also, I wanted to finish the storyline so it was worth it to know how it turned out.
I've already got all of these guys on Online now; I just cloned Avarice and Pendragon to CAC slots and changed the stats to reflect the new cards. With the other two I just put their stats into CAC slots and used the "masked guy" silhouette in place of a drawing. So the way I see it I got the rest of the story, the printed cards, and the stats I needed to input them into online for $15, which makes it seem a little better deal. I'd imagine that since Osk has been paying attention to the boards that he'll make a push to get these added to the online system as soon as the cardstock version sells out. Otherwise, it'd be counter-productive to him to pay to have them printed out of his own pocket and then give up all the money for the people who'd buy it online instead.

I do use the characters from the book but it surely is not gospel. If I want to team Bishop Hell and Thantos in 2125 now then I do it.

I don't go 100-percent by the book either. I don't know anyone who does, but I'm very sure they're out there and having a great time doing it. What I meant with aCe is that I wanted to finish up reading the story, since the way Osk writes the handbooks they come across more like chapter of a short story than description guides. It really got left hanging with Dark Tides. With this one chapter closes but there's a whole lot more room to explore either on your own or when/if he ever gets to do another expansion/free agent pack like this. In that respect it kind of felt like the cards were just the vessel for getting the rest of his story told, and I respect that kind of ingenuity.
