ROH Video Wire for the Week of 7/15/10:
We're shown a gym with people practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the background. The camera goes to Davey Richards, who is sitting alone.
Richards: "You know, there's a lot of talk about this new promotion called Ring of Honor. A lot of people throwing their names in the hat as far as wanting to be involved. Well I'm telling you now that The American Wolves are going to be there at the Murphy Rec Center for the first show. The Era of Honor will begin on that night, but I don't just want a regular match. I want to make a statement. Now I hear you all asking, 'but Davey! Where's Eddie?' Eddie is over in Japan right now, making sure that the American Wolves is a name known, and feared around the world. I've talked with Eddie, and we know that Ring of Honor also is bringing Claudio Castagnoli and Chris Hero to Philadelphia. Kings of Wrestling, you've never faced us. You could say that we both have something to prove in Philly. I've spoken to management, and you better believe this is the match the fans will get. August 20th at the Murphy Rec Center, boys, the Hunt is On."
The video wire then cuts to a match from Japan that sees "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson beating an opponent with the CATTLE MUTILATION. We then cut to Danielson in his locker room after the match.
Danielson: "So on August 20th in Philadelphia, I've been invited to compete for Ring of Honor at their very first show. Now a lot of you are probably wondering why the best wrestler in the world would bother with an upstart promotion, and it's just this simple: I've looked at the list of guys that they're going to have there, and to prove that I'm the best in the world, I'm going to have to test my skills against theirs. I signed my name on the dotted line, and on August 20th, I'm going to be in the ring with Austin Aries and Roderick Strong in a Triple Threat match. Aries, we've wrestled before. We've taken each other to the limit before. And the same goes for you, Roderick. The thing that's different is in Philadelphia, you're not facing the same Bryan Danielson you did years ago. This is a new, revitalized American Dragon. You see, now you've got two options: You either Tap...or you Snap."
Newswire for 7/13/10:
-- This week's video wire gave fans the two main event matches for our debut show on August 20th from the Murphy Rec Center in Philadelphia. In a Tag Team Dream Match, The American Wolves of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards will take on The Kings of Wrestling of Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli. In our main event, Roderick Strong will clash with Bryan Danielson and Austin Aries in a three way dance.
-- Another huge match has been signed for August 20th, as Nigel McGuinness has been challenged by Eddie Kingston. Kingston has some words for Nigel in the upcoming video wire, but suffice to say that this will be the battle of the lariats in this first time ever match.
-- Also set for August 20th is a five-way, elimination rules tag team match that will see Jay and Mark Briscoe take on Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw, the Age of the Fall of Tyler Black and Jimmy Jacobs, F.I.S.T. of Gran Akuma and Icarus, and The Young Bucks of Nick and Matt Jackson. A win here would certainly go a long way to getting one of these teams into the eventual ROH World Tag Team Championship match. Which team will rise to the occasion in Philly?
-- Looking forward, Ring of Honor has added three more shows to the schedule as we debut in New York City on September 11th, Dayton, Ohio on October 22nd, and Chicago Ridge, IL on October 23rd. Read below to see the first two matches announced for the Midwest Double Shot.
-- The Necro Butcher, known worldwide for being the king of hardcore wrestling, has issued an open challenge to the entire wrestling world for August 20th in Philadelphia. Who will step up to the plate and face Necro in Philadelphia?
-- A match has already been signed for Dayton, as Tyler Black signed with Ring of Honor with one of the conditions being that he gets to face Bryan Danielson one-on-one. In Dayton on October 22nd, Black will get his wish as he goes head-to-head with the American Dragon.
-- The next night in Chicago has also had its first match signed as Roderick Strong will face off with Eddie Kingston in what is set to be one of the hardest hitting matches in the history of professional wrestling.
ROH Newswire for 7/15/10:

-- As noted in the last newswire, the legendary Satoru Sayama, better known as the original Tiger Mask, will wrestle on September 11th at the Manhattan Center as Ring of Honor presents Glory By Honor. Everyone on the Ring of Honor roster has thrown their name into the hat to face the legend, but one has been more vocal than anyone else - Austin Aries. The two will meet in a dream match at Glory By Honor.
-- Also signed for September 11th at the Manhattan Center is a contest between Chris Hero and Bryan Danielson. These two have fought all over the independent circuit, and this match should be a classic.
-- In next week's Video Wire, we'll hear from Eddie Kingston about his match with Nigel on August 20th. Eddie also has another major match on the horizon because on October 23rd in Chicago, he will take on the Messiah of the Backbreaker in Roderick Strong.
-- ROH Commissioner Jim Cornette has announced that in October in Chicago, Ring of Honor will present Survival of the Fittest. It's a one night tournament with six qualifying matches leading into a six man elimination match at the end of the night to determine the first Ring of Honor World Champion! The above match between Roderick Strong and Eddie Kingston is the first announced SOTF qualifier. In next week's Video Wire, as well as Friday's newswire, we'll announce two more Survival of the Fittest Qualifying matches.
-- Also signed for our debut in Chicago is a tag team match between the Briscoes of Jay and Mark and Team F.I.S.T. of Gran Akuma and Icarus. These two teams will give fans a preview on August 20th, but the question of which team is truly better will be left unanswered until October 23rd in Chicago.
-- Speaking of the Midwest Double Shot in October, another match has been added to our debut in Dayton. Roderick Strong will take on Davey Richards in a singles match.
-- Also speaking of the show in Dayton, we'll have a major announcement regarding that show's main event after August 20th.
-- ROH has been in contact with several top wrestling superstars, and some are very close to signing. Some even have history with current members of the Ring of Honor locker room.
ROH Newswire for 7/16/10:
-- ROH officials have sent the word that the card for August 20th's show has been rounded out with the announcement of the final two undercard matches. In the first match, it's a do or die situation for both men involved as Chuck Taylor faces off against DelirioAus. Taylor is out to prove that he's more than a comedy wrestler, and Delirious will show up ready to prove that he belongs among the elite in this sport.
-- The other match announced is a Women of Honor match as Sara del Rey, who will manage the Kings of Wrestling later in the night, takes on Daizee Haze.
-- Yesterday's newswire announced the Survival of the Fittest tournament to determine the first Ring of Honor World Champion. We promised to deliver two new qualifying matches today, and two for next week's video wire, and today we bring you the news that Bryan Danielson will square off against Eddie Edwards in the second announced Qualifier for Survival of the Fittest!
-- In addition to this, Claudio Castagnoli will take on Austin Aries in the other newly announced Survival of the Fittest Qualifier. These are two huge matches that have a lot of importance to everyone involved because there isn't a second chance to become the first ROH World Champion, they will have to make the most of this golden opportunity.
-- Another match announced for Dayton, Ohio on October 22nd as Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli will take on The Briscoes.
-- Tickets for our New York City debut, titled Glory by Honor, have officially sold out. This show features two huge matches as Chris Hero takes on Bryan Danielson, and in a dream match, Tiger Mask takes on Austin Aries.

These two teams are amongst the hardest hitting teams of all time, who will come out on top in New York City?
-- Look for the latest ROH Video Wire next Wednesday, the 21st as we will hear from Eddie Kingston, Austin Aries, and Chris Hero in regards to their matches on August 20th. You will also find out two of the remaining three Survival of the Fittest Qualifying Matches, and a new match for Glory By Honor.
ROH Newswire for 7/19/10:

-- A huge match was signed for Dayton, Ohio over the weekend as fans will see Austin Aries team with Eddie Kingston to take on Brent Albright and Mike Quackenbush.
-- Davey Richards has petitioned ROH management to add him into Survival of the Fittest. This may seem premature of him, but if Richards is not announced as part of the tournament on Wednesday, there are only two spots left, and everyone wants to be involved in the match to determine the first Ring of Honor World Champion.
-- The Young Bucks have issued an open challenge to any tag team in the world for September 11th in New York City. This is a rather bold move of the Bucks, but they're confident that they can fight off any challenge. We'll find out on September 11th.
-- Also, stay tuned to future ROH Newswires as in the coming months, a huge announcement will be made regarding the first Ring of Honor Pay-Per-View event.
ROH Video Wire for the Week of 7/21/10:
The Video Wire begins with Eddie Kingston, who is standing in a parking garage.
Kingston: "You know, lately everybody's been asking the King, 'What about Ring of Honor?' Well I've been called, and I've been given opponent after opponent. But they're all boring to me. Chris Hero? I've beat him. Claudio? I've beat him, and like to beat him, but I want a challenge. I've been hearin' a lot of tough talk about Nigel McGuinness' lariat, and how it's broken jaws. I've heard how it's the strongest lariat in the business today. Let me tell you somethin', brother. You're comin' into Philadelphia, MY backyard. You wanna bring that Lariat into my yard, partner? Your lariat might break jaws, mine breaks skulls. God's Middle Child, Eddie Kingston. Holla at me."
We cut to Austin Aries in his locker room after a match.
Aries: "Bryan Danielson and Roderick Strong are the best that Ring of Honor could offer me? Come on, do you think they're a challenge? Danielson, I've beaten many times. And Roderick? I carried you on my back for years, and I know I can beat you. I feel almost insulted by this challenge. I stand here before you people, the undeserving public, as Mr. It himself, and the greatest man that ever lived. A-Double, Austin Aries. And I guarantee you, I will still be the greatest man that ever lived after August 20th in Philadelphia."
In front of a Chikara banner, we're shown Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw.
Quackenbush: "On August 20th, Ring of Honor has invited Jigsaw and I to wrestle on their first event in a five-way tag team match featuring the Briscoes, the Young Bucks, the Age of the Fall, ourselves, and you, Team F.I.S.T. of Icarus and Gran Akuma, you've been nothing but a thorn in the side of everyone here at Chikara since the day you started wrestling. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to face the two of you more than any of the other teams."
Jigsaw: "Icarus, years ago you tried to take my mask, but were unsuccessful. We've fought battles before and since, but on August 20th, there's more on the line than almost any other time. On August 20th, Quack and I come to make a statement in Ring of Honor."
Quackenbush: "And if that statement has to be made at your expense, Team F.I.S.T, I think all of us here at Chikara can agree that it's a price worth paying. We'll see you on the 20th, gentlemen. Be prepared."
In the locker room of the Budoukan in Japan, we see Chris Hero.
Hero: "So Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards have laid down the gauntlet for Claudio and I for the 20th of August in Philadelphia? I've never been one to duck a challenge, but tell me...exactly what do I have to prove to the American Wolves? Eddie Edwards wrestled on the same show as I did tonight, the only difference is that I WON my match. The American Wolves are 'on the hunt', they're looking for their next victims. Unfortunately, they will not find them on August 20th. As a matter of fact, American Wolves, it seems like the hunt is going to die on the 20th. In Philadelphia, American Wolves, you will find out that Kings Reign Supreme."
Standing in his home office, Jim Cornette is shown.
JC: "So it's come to my attention that Davey Richards has been ringing the phones nearly off the hook at ROH headquarters looking for a spot in Survival of the Fittest. You know, I'll never understand it - Ring of Honor hasn't presented its first show yet, and everyone's looking so far ahead to the future. But Davey, you're the kind of man who would walk through hell wearing gasoline britches, and you're damn talented. You want in Survival of the Fittest? You've got your wish, Davey, but it's on MY terms, not yours. You will face a man who is praised the world over as one of the best talents EVER in this business. That's right, you're facing Nigel McGuinness. It's also come to my attention that I have to announce ANOTHER match for Survival of the Fittest. And I looked through all the talent in the world to put in the ring, and I found two more that will provide an interesting, compelling matchup for the fans in Chicago. Tyler Black, you're one of the most athletically gifted young men this business has ever seen, and in Chicago on October 23rd, you will face the hometown boy in CM Punk for the right to enter Survival of the Fittest! But we'll rewind the clock a bit now to September 11th. Glory By Honor, ROH's debut at the Manhattan Center. The biggest show ROH can possibly present will be brought to you the fans, and I have signed yet another huge match for the show as Chris Candido, with his valet Tammy Sytch, will take on Tyler Black. I just said that Tyler Black is as athletically gifted as they come, and he'll get a chance to prove he belongs here in ROH as he takes on a man who many people have called the last generation's Tyler Black. Also, since Tyler was previously scheduled for a four way dance, his partner Jimmy Jacobs will take his place in that match. With that being said, I'm Jim Cornette, and this has been the Ring of Honor Video Wire."
But the video wire doesn't end there, we cut to the Briscoes standing in a parking lot.
Jay: "Young Bucks! You guys issue an open challenge to ANYONE for Glory By Honor, man? September 11th, y'all boys better get ready to man up."
Mark: "You boys done it now, you think you belong in the ring with us? We gon' show you who the best team in the world is. Man up."
Jay: "Real talk - September 11th, Young Bucks, it's on, baby."
ROH Newswire for 7/23/10:
-- News will be slow for the next couple of weeks going into the show on August 20th. We will present one video wire a week, as per usual, but there may not be a newswire for that given week.
-- Next week's Video Wire will be interesting, as we'll hear from Roderick Strong about his match in Philadelphia. We've heard from his opponents, but what will the Messiah of the Backbreaker have to say to Austin Aries and Bryan Danielson?
-- A huge match has just been signed for Dayton as The Young Bucks will take on Erick Stevens and Brodie Lee. This is a huge size mismatch, and will definitely be an interesting match.
-- Speaking of Dayton, Mike Quackenbush will be unable to attend that show due to a scheduling conflict with LWF: Smokey Mountain Wrestling. Quackenbush WILL however, be in Chicago the following night as he will take on Chris Hero in the final Survival of the Fittest qualifying match!
-- Ring of Honor has inked a television deal as of today. The first set of tapings will be held on September 3rd and 4th from the ECW Arena in Philadelphia on Friday, and from Inman Sports Club in Edison, New Jersey on Saturday. ROH Commissioner Jim Cornette will return to the ROH Video Wire next Monday with information about crowning the first Television and World Tag Team Champions in Ring of Honor, as well as announcing matches for those first tapings. For now, we have a short list of names appearing at each.
-- A huge match just signed for New York as Nigel McGuinness will take on "The Whole F'N Show" Rob Van Dam in a huge match. This will be Van Dam's first outing in Ring of Honor, and would be a huge win for Nigel McGuinness going into Survival of the Fittest.
