Talking about Shadowpact and Primal Force, I started reading Primal Force again and I will read Shadowpact again too... Primal Force starts off with these DC Characters in Jack O'Lantern - Liam McHugh, Tornado ( Red Tornado ), Claw, The Golem and Meridian with Maltis leading the group... Primal Force was one of the titles which spun out of Zero Hour, yes? One of my favorite DC books ever came from that: Fate, starring Jared Collins as the new Fate after the death of Kent and Inza Nelson -- wherein he melted the helmet of Fate into a BIG HONKING KNIFE. I also recently got from eBay a 99% complete run (missing one issue) of the 90s Eclipso ongoing series!

ljacone You are correct, Primal Force came out Zero Hour, I thought about getting Fate and another Zero Hour spawned series that looks cool is Gunfire... Actually, Gunfire was spawned out of the Bloodlines crossover, as he was one of the New Blood (not to be confused with that OTHER New Blood, run by Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff). The books which spun out of Zero Hour were Fate, Primal Force, Manhunter, REBELS '94, Starman, Extreme Justice, and the mini Xenobrood. Starman clearly was the class of that group. In any event, I remember reading a Gunfire tale in Showcase 94 and thinking about checking out his book, but I never got around to it. Unfortunately the character was turned into a joke by Garth Ennis in Hitman when he had him charge his own ass with power and explode. No I am not making that up.

Extreme Justice was a good book that came out at the wrong time... people were pretty tired of the JLA by then.
DC kinda oversaturated after the Giffen League was successful... I think they figured since he was able to sell comics with C level characters, any old set of characters could be a team and sell.

Yeah the Justice League was over flowing back then but I was a fan and I also really liked Justice League Task Force too, which was prior to EJ...

At the time Extreme Justice started, we had 3 different Justice Leagues in the DCU. This was the major impetus for Morrison's JLA with the return of the "Big 7."
I always thought that the expansion of the Justice League was a response to the overwhelming success of theX-books over at Marvel. The X-books were so successful that Marvel tried to do the same thing with the Avengers!

I've been more of a Marvel fan. DC has a way of coming up with great ideas like One Year Later and tend to fuck it up. They also seem to be too obsessed with fixing every little glitch in continuity and seem to just make things worse at the end of the day.
Now, with that said, I have made a real effort in the last 8 years to read more DC and to reach back towards the past and read more of their history.

I never really got into Bloodlines, but Hitman is AWESOME.. sure, it's typical of that era of comics, but it's that's not a bad thing.

Him trying to join the JLA so he could see Wonder Woman's tits with his x-ray vision was pretty hilarious.

I used to love comic books until the mid 90's when they decided to reboot the entire marvel universe. That annoyed me so much I stopped buying them. It was like giving the long time loyal fans a slap across the face.

I used to love comic books until the mid 90's when they decided to reboot the entire marvel universe. That annoyed me so much I stopped buying them. It was like giving the long time loyal fans a slap across the face. Do you mean the aftermath of the Onlsaught story that spun off into "Heroes Reborn" where Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, and company did new incarnations of Fantastic Four, Iron Man, and Captain America? Those didn't last too long and they got absorbed right back into regular continuity within a year. There was also the "Ultimates" universe that came along in 2000, but that wasn't a reboot of the entire Marvel universe, it's an alternate line of continuity that runs parallel to the Marvel U that has always been there and remains reboot-free since the 1960s. If you jumped because of a reboot, you jumped on a false alarm. Does anyone here read any non-superhero stuff? Recently I've been discovering a lot of the early DC Vertigo stuff that came out in the early 90s before I was old enough to apprecitate it. Then there's the current series The Unwritten and Jonathan Hickman books like Pax Romana, and especially Nightly News which I thought was pretty great. Also, for some older stuff, Brian Michael Bendis' creator-owned work from the 90s like AKA Goldfish, Torso (which I'm real surprised has never been optioned for a movie) and Jinx still hold up really well. There's a lot of really inventive and original new stuff out there, too. On the superhero front, I finally got to read issue 3 of Batman Inc yesterday (right before number four hits tomorrow) and I really think it's hitting it's stride. It's like "Batman Brave and The Bold" done more mature and in the main DC continuity with Batman teaming with a new odd or obscure character every story arc. I've got five new books to read coming out tomorrow: Silver Surfer 2, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep 21 , Batman Inc 4, Green Lantern 64, and Haunt 14.

I've always loved "Love & Rockets". And then there is fantasy stuff from "Heavy Metal". I've always been a fan of comic books.

I currently read Knights of the Dinner Table and the Walking Dead for non-supers stuff. I used to love Transmetropolitan back when it was coming out.
