After my promoter spotlight, I was messaged from a fellow Columbus resident asking if I wanted to split costs, etc.
Anyways, has anyone here actually gone to Galacticon before. Did you like it? Did you dislike it?

I've gone several times, I did split a room with a friend back at the first G-Con I went to and the event in the late 90's and early 2000's for me was fun, but I grew tired if you will with my third and final visit to the convention...
I'm not sure if the Con captures that same magic like in the late 90's, but I'm sure it still is a good time for those who attend. It is a smart thing to split costs, that way both of you can save cash...
I have to say a few good memories from going are hanging with good friends, rolling the dice a bit and I thought the Auctions were a fun time...

I can never make it, because I teach summer school when it is usually going down.

I can thankfully take the time off this year. I'm excited. I've always wanted to go and it was one of those things that I never thought was going to happen. Well, I was going to try and get the wife to go one year but this makes it doable.

A few years ago a few of us were going to form up the Havoc caravan to go out. I was even going to get "The List" t-shirts made. It fell through when we all lost our buzz. Needless to say, doubt the welcome would be very warm if we ever did make the trip.

They'd play tournaments with you the same as everyone else, shake your hand on Sunday and say see ya next year when they leave. You'd probably be disappointed your appearance didn't bring you any much needed attention.

I've considered going a few times but something else always comes up. Once or twice my work schedule got in the way and one other time I had a chance to go to the baseball hall of fame to see the induction ceremonies. I'd probably go if it wasn't a 5-6 hour drive

It's a long trip to go to say "Hi" to the 3-4 guys there I'd care to meet and then go home. I got a short attention span. I'd probably get bored after 2 hours and want to leave.

I've gone twice and it's always a fun time. In recent years there's been too much going on out here for me to make the trip. But would go again. That's why I started GalactiCal! If I can't go to GalactiCon, I'll make it come to me!
But if you're on the fence, go. Everyone's fantastic.

I've been several years. had to miss last year which was a bummer. It's a good time but its definitely more or less play tournaments and meet Tom and some of the players nowadays.

Said another way, I think that you're making too much of things. If you think that there are only 3 or 4 people who attend G-con that you'd care to meet, I think that you'd prove yourself wrong by the end of the 'con. In addition to those who post on the boards, there are a guys who attend but aren't active board members. Maybe you would get bored, but there should be a hell of a lot more than 4 guys who you'd meet that were cool. I've been to 9 of the last 10, and I've always enjoyed myself. I probably meet 3 or 4 cool first-timers every year.

I have always wanted to go to the Con. I enjoyed going to GalactiCorn and looking forward to Avarice's upcoming I-CON. I am sure I would meet some good people. What I find disconcerting is hearing that a certain "hero/leader to the COTG masses" is so kind as to make snide comments to another memeber (and a good friend) at the Con.
On the flip side, I think all the back stabbing and bickering would go away since it is easier to be "brave/tough" behind a keyboard than it is in person.

Could I meet more people that I'd wind up liking, maybe. However, I have two board members I'd like to meet that are less than 2 hours away from me but I haven't bothered to meet them either. I've joked to other people about going and saying. "Hi Kevin, Hi Chewy, Hi Werner, Hi Mark. Nice to meet you guys." and then leave. But that's a long trip to make to fulfill a joke.

Well, I was going to try and get the wife to go one year but this makes it doable. I did a Cedar Point two day trip, GCon for part of a Saturday and Niagra Falls for a couple days back in 04. Probably wouldn't go back now since I do family trips now

My job title had it's pay band upgraded at work so I just got a $3000 raise overnight. So the finances are looking amazing for doing it now.
