Since I have no idea how to post a box score I'm going to go through just the highlights of the game
1953 World Series Game 1 Yankee Stadium Yankees 5 - Dodgers - 3
Brooklyn took a one run lead in the first inning with a Roy Campenella double that sent Jackie Robinson across home plate. The score remained 1-0 in favor of Brooklyn until the bottom of the 4 inning when Yankees left fielder Gene Woodling drove in a run and second baseman Billy Martin followed up with a three run homer to put the Yankees up 4-1. The Yankees scored again in the fifth with a Hank Bauer RBI double. The Dodgers scored 2 runs in the seventh when Gene Shuba (pinch hitting for Carl Erskine) hit a 2 run homer driving in third baseman Billy Cox.
Winning Pitcher Allie Reynolds 9 innings, 3 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 3 earned runs. Player Of The Game - Billy Martin single. double, homerun, and 3 RBI
