This game is set to be revealed at E3 in three weeks. It should be interesting given all the crazy rumors swirling like: - Create-An-Arena - Backstage areas finally return to regular matches - Moves actually not being aimlessly taken out this year - The potential for new guys (Del Rio, Daniel Bryan) to be among the first shown
So with E3 three weeks away, and the new UFC game being unveiled the same weekend, what would you like to see from both games? Personally, Create-An-Arena and Fixed WWE Universe mode = me being set.

Head designer tweeted an anagram yesterday which unscrambled to "Change is Coming". Maybe this will finally be the year we get a new gameplay engine! We'll know in about three weeks at E3.

Did some thinking, this is what I want in SVR this year: - Gameplay should be sped up slightly. - Create-An-Arena - Weapon Wheel in every match - Rankings in Universe Mode should be able to be edited manually - Title matches in exhibition without using an exploit - Story Designer should be less fucking confusing - Backstage areas in hardcore matches (ie arena free roam during matches) - All the removed moves being put back in (NEVER gonna happen but I can dream dammit) - Diesel as a Legend - Sin Cara in the game by default or at least as DLC - Accurate movesets. There's no excuse that CM Punk and Randy Orton (among MANY others) have The Rock's wraparound DDT but Rock himself doesn't even have it.

Sin Cara in the game seems likely and Diesel as a Legend seems do-able, but we will see

Game gets revealed on Tuesday, and may not even be called SmackDown vs. RAW, which while it has little to do with the game itself, a name change is definitely needed for the series. SmackDown vs. RAW sounded stupid when they changed it from SmackDown (insert wrestler phrase here) in 2004, and it sounds stupid now.

Perhaps they'll try to make it more of a 'real' sports game (as opposed to a fighting game with some extra bits) and simple call it "WWE Universe 2012"
Maybe a GM mode where you sign guys to contracts and book and such.... and can jump in and play the big matches.
That would be cool if done right.

They had this mode in SmackDown vs. RAW 2006 - 2008, but they removed it. It wasn't nearly as good as it could have been (guys would randomly jumping from one show to the other and no matter how hard you tried you were never going to beat the AI and get GM of the Year), and there's a ton of people who want to see it brought back.

CAWs.ws posted a picture of one of the guys from THQ standing in front of the SVR cover from last year to advertise their podcast tomorrow night. The interesting thing is that the SVR logo has an 'X' through it, pretty much confirming that the name is going to be changed. Tomorrow, we get the first look at the game via IGN.

Jim Ross: "Expect to hear a major announcement Tuesday from WWE/THQ. Arguably the biggest news to date from WWE on the video game front"
Alright, now this could just be JR being JR, but if it's not: What the fuck could the announcement be? "The biggest news to date" is a VERY bold statement when not more than four months ago, Randy Savage was announced for a WWE game.

I've never played SvR but do they have a multi-online player system? Maybe it'll be a WWE MMO type Fed or what if they made a WWE version for Xboxes Kinect, just a few guesses...

It has where you can play matches online, but nothing like an MMO. That would be really awesome if they could do it right (full stat tracking and the ability to form alliances and stuff) but online play has never been the strongest part of WWE games sadly.

Jim Ross stated on his official website today that a “major announcement” will be made Tuesday concerning THQ’s annual WWE video game series, SmackDown vs. Raw.
“Arguably the biggest news to date from WWE on the video game front,” Ross wrote.
The announcement is that the title of the annual WWE video game, SmackDown vs. Raw, will cease to exist. The rumored new name of the game is WWE ’12, a year that will change annually.
THQ made the decision to change the title of the game because they felt the SmackDown vs. Raw title no longer fit the product due to WWE rendering the “brand wars” inconsequential. This also explains WWE ceasing the pay-per-view event Bragging Rights. While the event drew poorly both years, it was kept to help promote the annual release of SmackDown vs. Raw.

Well, that makes sense, as WWE would like to distance the word wrestling even further from themselves. Now it is like Madden or NHL with the year tacked on.

Apparently there's no PS2 or PSP version this year. Just PS3/360/Wii. I'm glad, honestly. The PS2/PSP versions forced THQ/Yuke's to screw over the current gen games in the name of making the games "equal".
