So I guess there was some stuff in the promoter... I'll check that out tonight if my sub isn't up..(crashed my work comp.) Anything exciting?
Keeping in mind I haven't seen whatever's there, here's what I think:
Monolith get a downgrade, but only a slight one. He's gonna feud with AOM.. that one's pretty much a given.
I'm thinking a new woman, kinda finishing up the turnover, with Phantasy retiring.
I expect (hope) SOMETHING happens with the infinity challenge... maybe the guy who does the best gets some sort of magical upgrade from Dilectas or Abroz, and/or a could guys at the bottom leave.
I REALLY hope the Mother Superior soap opera has a conclusion... wouldn't surprise me if that conclusion ends with Bloodline retiring, and Encubus getting a downgrade.
I think Sly's story is going on for a while.. I suspect 'Council of War' is going to be essentially a group of guys trying to kick him out. While I feel like that's already been happening, I think it'll be ramped up a notch or two.
I don't think it will happen, but I'd really like to see some sort of war fuzzy ending to Thantos' story.... I hate the way he went out.
Thoughts?

From the new Promoter:
COUNCIL OF WAR 2126 will feature huge new turning points in GWF history. Let's start with the basics.
The monstrous legendary behemoth is back! Yes, the incredible MONOLITH makes his return and with fire in those huge eyes! You would not want to be in the shoes of Sly Drury or the Aethran Overmaster. How will they respond?
Will MONOLITH join forces with the Dark Menace like everyone expects? Or will he surprise us?
Meanwhile Coven Black has a big problem! A newcomer is joining the GWF and he's got some history with Black! Wait till you see the new mysteries and storylines coming in 2126! But Black won't be caught off guard. He has got a surprise too! Are you ready for some awesome new female fighters in the GWF? Well, you had better be!
There is even more! The Overmaster is going to make a move to take over the GWF! He will add a newcomer to the Gladiator camp. The Aethran leader will also form an alliance with other power-mongers in the galaxy. Who will be members of his groundbreaking COUNCIL OF WAR team? Here is a hint… one member is a newcomer with three others already in the GWF. Can you guess who they are? And can you guess the leader of the COUNCIL OF WAR?
One thing is for sure… you can never trust a Holy Brown Bear! What will Hector do in 2126? And who will stop him?

Wouldn't it be cool if it was Shepard? Council Of War: leader Paganax, with Encubus, Anivar, and the new guy. He'll do anything he wants and no one will stop him!

I hope not a werewolf... that would be awfully trendy.
Shepard would indeed be cool... and make sense, but not in fitting with Tom's aversion to bringing guys back when they leave.
I think Mark's thought on Council of War is pretty good, though I'm not sure I see Paganax in charge... Tom seems to be using him in more of a generic big man role.

I agree with most of this, but I could see Tom bringing in Shepard. He would be "new" to Tom and the GWF, much like Paganax and Vidtek. If he does bring in Shepard, I wouldn't be surprised to see his character taken in a different direction, since Tom did that with both of the others.

OT-Just hearing someone saying Shepard...
Convince me as to why I should even play the 2116 set when the whole point of that edition has been totally ignored (End of dimension hopping, guys going back to their own dimensions, but guys like Amazing Mann, Paganox doing it even though the UFSP was supposed to end that...just bugged me).

They didn't end the inter-dimensional travel, they just put restrictions and guidelines in place. We've seen two instances (three if Shepard guess is right) in what will be ten game years, so I'd say Tom's definitely not overdoing it.

It would have been nice if ACE could have had a 'cleaner' finish, but that's water under the bridge. As far as Paganax goes, I think that was a bit more than a 'new direction'.. it was more like slapping an existing name and look on a new character. I didn't know Tom didn't create Vidtek, actually. I've never really done that era.. was his characterization consistent with Mark's? The role Paganax is in would have been 100% perfect for Avarice. I think Tom channelled Vince McMahon a bit on that one, and did something not as good for the sake of fooling us 'Smarks' That being said, Shepard coming in would be similar... there's no 'dark, unholy' elements in the GWF right now (maybe Tricks and Oracle, but that'd be kinda low on the card) so he'd probably get morphed into more a straight viligante role, which actually would work fine... a much better fit than Paganax is for a mercenary. In that setting, almost any former ACE hero would work (Pendragon, Peacemaker, or any of the older guys)... Unless Tom is going to continue/re-visit the realms idea, which seems to me unlikely.... they don't really talk about that in regards to Valour and Reckless any more. I'd think it more likely to be tied to the infinity challenge, Shepard could come in saying one of the two guys is evil, and side with the other. Be great if some someone who isn't a straight bad guy did the same for the other side.. that could really crank that up. In fact, I really like that idea

My idea was to have Rotunda become a Coven Black fangirl and have Gryt become jealous. 2127 rolls around and Gryt went and became a werewolf to fight Coven Black and win back Rotunda's love.
Wildfire, I think Tom did that with Sly Drury as Iron Hand. I'm not so sure about the Avarice/Paganax thing. I tend to think that Tom, the writer, would be more drawn to the character of Paganax for the GWF than he would for an Avarice type. Tom seems to favor big monster heels over arrogant ring general heels.

Yeah, that's true.. since Thantos the top heels have mostly been big monster types.
It was just such a character assassination, though, and you must admit EVERYONE thought it would be Avarice.
I always thought with Iron Hand he just spend too much time on Red Herrings and not enough time selling Sly as a legit heel. Every time I've tried to play New Begginings, he's a lower mid-card guy at best. I was definitely rooting for it to be Thantos but I understand not going that route.
As to the Coven Black thing, I'm definitely curious...I HOPE that Tom has something unique for him, but I fear that he's just there to be trendy and the story will resemble either Twilight or True Blood... there's been ALOT of 'tributes' lately (Tristan Mysterio ,AnivBatista, Bat Swarm, the Joker... Encubus Orton... the list goes on)
