If I wanted to get a baseball and possibly basketball game... which would you go with? I'm leaning toward APBA. You can play these games solo, right?

Yes, you can play solo... really football is the only sport that's tough solo.
I personally like APBA better, but they have pros and cons. Most people think Statis Pro will give you a more accurate replay, if that's your thing... though Strat-o-Matic is better than both on that score.
APBA is probably a quicker play, but it leaves some stuff out (you don't get to sent a runner an extra base or steal).

I've never tried Strat-o-matic, but I know Ty uses and loves that game. It does look fun! I do have APBA and have recently played a few games with that, and I find it to really be fun. Currently I am running a Cincinnati Reds All-timer team v Toronto Blue Jays All-timer series, and it really is cool. And I play that solo. Most games can be completed in under 20 minutes (for the board game which is what I have) If you LOVE stats, as I do, I recommend Out of the Park Baseball for your computer. I haven't tried other sports though.

SOM is my game of choice for the 4 major sports. Have not played Statis Pro or APBA, but Strat is really awesome.

I grew up playing APBA then stopped playing for a lot of years before getting back in to it recently. I have to honestly say it doesn't seem as good as I remember it. I'm seriously considering giving stratomatic a try

APBA is simple and quick... that's it's strong points. Strat is definitely more accurate, but takes nearly twice as long to play. APBA doesn't have lefty-righty stuff.. the pitchers are rated very simply, and you don't control the baserunners, but for all that, it's a blast.
@ Kelly: I was just talkin' to Graymar about OOTP... I played it a LONG time ago (When it was still called Season Ticket) and it's pretty cool, but it has some real issues... guys get into streaks alot.. I can't count how many times guys would strike out 4 times in a game, or go 4-4.
If you're willing to spend the money, Diamond Mind is, IMO, a similar yet far superior game to OOTP... pretty pricey though.

Replay Baseball PC is fun, but I think I want to go with the APBA board game.

The righty and lefty thing was always the biggest beef I had with APBA. This is a system I found that helps

Since I’ve never played any card and dice sports game, I have a few questions. Say I purchase SOM Baseball with 2010 Season, will they provide me with a team’s season schedule, or will I have to create it? Also, is it tough to manage stats throughout the season? You see, I played Replay Baseball for the PC and like how the stats and box scores are done for you, but it felt like I was just clicking, not really playing.

The pc game for SOMBB does everything, stats, schedules, you name it. If you're playing card and dice I don't think you get a copy of the 2010 schedule.

Replay Baseball PC or SOM PC? That is the question.
