Yeah, I'll be jumping on that deal now that I see it. $50 for the newest version of the PC game and the top 120 of all time. That's a great deal.

Interesting... a couple of those 'experts' definitely had me scratching my head, but definitely a fun thing to check out.

You mean the guy that took Oscar Robinson with far superior team pieces still on the table and then turned around and grabbed Elgin Baylor with yet again, superior pieces on the table? And then proceeded to draft 3 forwards before a center and a second guard. I found it to be pretty hilarious that the guy picking behind him made a superior pick for like 10 out of the 12 rounds. He also drafted Scottie Pippen too high.
His problem was he drafted with no team identity in mind. His guards didn't mesh well with his forwards, he had a glut of forwards that all had the same strengths and weaknesses and he really undervalued having a solid center to clog up the lane. I mean you have Wilt, Russell, Walton, Hakeem, Robinson and Kareem running around this league and you're waiting till the 5 round to draft Wes Unseld. That's a disaster for your front court in that league.
Look at the guy that won the league. Not necessarily the greatest player at every position but he had a rotation in mind. He could run a high powered offense with LeBron, Anthony, Barkley, Tiny and Miller or he could grind a game to a complete halt with Russell, Rodman and Laimbeer in his front court.

That, and the fact that Joe Johnson and Blake Griffin got drafted at all... not to mention Walton going in like round 2.... even if you use the single season of his championship season, he's way better IRL then in a stat game.
I'd almost question taking Russell so high for a stat game... you can't rate 'mystique' or 'heart' No way a team with Chamberlain on it beats a team with Russell on it in a game 7 without huge extenuating circumstances.

Jordan is a bad pick for Strat as well. Strat has never really captured his essence in the game. I'm sure none of the big stat games would recapture him well though.
I think the Walton pick was okay. You'll get some big rebound numbers and having a great rebounder makes a huge difference in Strat. He would probably be fairly skewed in how many points he scores too if he has a good offensive rebound rating. I'd say he's a 17-10 guy and you could build a team around him.

From his stat line Walton did 13-11 for the season. That's decent production. It looks like his team suffered from not having a secondary shooter for Bird to pass too and Mourning and Nash probably shouldn't be starters in that league.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't call Nash 1 of the 10 best PGs ever... and Morning is another one I'm not sure should have even been picked.
Just off the top of my head, you have Magic, Cousy, Maravich, Archibald, Stockton, Kidd, West and Thomas that are WAY better than Nash... I sure it I took a few minutes I could come up with 10 more.
I disagree about Jordan not being good in a stat game though... he'd average 30-35 points, 5 rebs, 5 asts, and 2 steals, with really good shooting percentages.. I think that works just fine. Sure, you don't get the 'referee lets you cheat because you're Michael Jordan' factor, but you even sorta do if they take foul drawing into consideration, which I'm sure they do.
(Yes, I'm still bitter about the Utah series were he tossed Bryon Russell to the ground to get open... Stockton and Malone DESERVED that title, dammit!)

Will this deal be available when the Top 120 of all time set comes out or what? I'm assuming it's not valid right now since I can't find it on the Strat website

From what's been said on the strat message board, and it does say in that ad computer game, the 120 greatest players is only for the computer right now. Not cards.

For that $50, you're getting at least $150 worth of product. It really is a great deal.

I think Nash could work in the confines of that league as a starting PG. If you surrounded him with good scorers, I think you could have an effective run and gun team. The problem with Nash on that team is he's a bad fit when Larry Bird is on the court. You have two great passers on his team and no one to really toss the ball too. Drexler was also a really bad choice to be a starter in this league. I mean, what was he really good at other than dunking?
