I don't want to be done with Strat o matic but I don't want the softball scores I'm getting with the Hall of Fame set. So I'm going to get one of these sets and play a tournament where every team has a chance since it'd be impossible to play a full season.
I wanted to do 1983 or 1994 but they aren't offering it on the official site. Anybody know if they occasionally change the sets they offer because I don't want to buy used set?

2000 is pretty unique... guys like Mike Sweeney and Darrin Erstad having great years.
1977 has alot of the stars of the generation before my time.. which would be fun.
1959 would give you guys like Williams and Snider and such... I was playing 1960 before and it was pretty fun.
I think I might do the current guys in the format you're thinking of, though. I like being current, it's just so hard to do a modern season with so many teams.

It's not on the list but I had a blast with 1960 as well.

1961 is one of my all time favorite years. But if you really want 1983 or 1994, try eBay. The both exist, as I have the 1994 season and I think the 1983 as well. You could also go with the set of 36 past great teams. Otherwise I would say 2000

I looked a bit on eBay and seems like alot of people want to overcharge, knowing it's out of print. Plus, I don't trust in getting other people's castoffs. I can't figure why they don't offer all the sets. I imagine they sell until they run out but really, how hard would it be to print them as they're ordered. They could charge an extra $10 and everyone would be happy. I was surprised that they didn't offer the 1986 or 1975 seasons as these would be big for Red Sox fans as well as 1969 for Cubs fans.

They're going to start offering a deal where you can print the old sets out yourself.

Dang, do I Order 2000, when my White Sox had the best record in the AL before pissing themselves or 1990 when they came out of nowhere to finish second to the powerhouse A's and the Pirates were actually good and the Yankees sucked. I think I'm ordering up today just got to narrow it down.

1990. The A's were great that year. I hate the A's. Otherwise 1990 would be a slam dunk choice.

The Reds are fun that year and they spoiled the A's party. The Yankees also sucked that year which is a huge plus. I mean really sucked.

If you don't already know about this site, Baseball Reference.com has every player stats all-time, and you can look at each league year by year and see the league leaders. Might help you pick a season. www.baseball-reference.com/

I went with 1990. Should be here on Thursday. Will be posting matchups soon. Was thinking of playing them simultaneously but think it'll be quicker one at a time. Thanks for the link Ty. On my iPhone it links to a mobile site which actually works with my purposes better than the full site.
I'm even looking forward to some of the crappy first round mathcups involving sub .500 teams.
