OK, so I'm having a tournament with all MLB teams. I planned on posting a listing of pitching matchups, etc but because my computer/proboards suck ass, I've twice wasted a half an hour looking up pitching rotations and such only to be told that for some asinine reason I have no connection and hitting the back button puts me to a completely blank page. I'm so pissed, I won't be posting the complete list of matchups but will post the next matchup as I go along.
First matchup
Seattle (77-85) vs Cleveland (77-85)
Winner gets the #1 seeded Oakland A's

Now I'm super pissed. Paid extra to have second day air. UPS tracking said it'd be here today and planned my afternoon around it. It arrived in Illinois last night and has gone nowhere and they've changed delivery to tomorrow. Assholes.

Got the cards. Jeez, have these been stored in someone's basement for 21 years?? Some of the sheets are yellowing and one corner of the card stack has a brown mark that bleed through to six or seven cards that looks like a coffee stain.
Still excited to play though but they didn't bother with sending rubber bands either.

With strat I get regular shipping and always get them the next day. The cards are stored in a warehouse but it should have in plastic. Was the plastic wrap opened?

It was in plastic but one corner must've had a hole and got some water or coffee in it. The top 6-7 cards got a small corner stain and the other corner has the same # of cards with bent corners. And the ballpark charts are sun scorched.
I'm three games into the Seattle-Cleveland series and am enjoying it.

First Round Seattle (77-85) vs Cleveland (77-85)
Game 1 Cleveland 6, Seattle 3 WP - Jesse Orosco LP - Bill Swift HR - SEA - Greg Briley, CLE - Cory Snyder, Carlos Baerga
The teams went back and forth for 8 1/2 innings but the starters Erik Hanson and Tom Candiotti didn't figure in the deicision. With two on and one out in the bottom of the ninth, Carlos Baerga hit a pinch hit three run walk off homer to give Cleveland the 1-0 lead.
Game 2 Seattle 4, Cleveland 0 WP - Matt Young LP - Greg Swindell SV - Mike Schooler
Young pitched 8 + of scorless ball and when he let the first two on in the ninth, Schooler came on to shut things down. Harold Reynolds went 3 for 5 and Seattle evened things up.
Game 3 Seattle 2, Cleveland 1 WP - Randy Johnson LP - Sergio Valdez SV - Mike Schooler HR - SEA - Edgar Martinez
Valdez actually outdid Johnson in strikeouts 9-6 but a Dion James error in the bottom of the eighth led to a Jay Buhner single driving in Edgar Martinez to break a 1-1 tie. Schooler worked a perfect ninth to put Seattle up 2-1.
Game 4 Seattle 5, Cleveland 1 WP - Brian Holman LP - John Farrell SV - Mike Jackson HR - SEA - Harold Reynolds 2
Cleveland carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth but Seattle scored 5 runs over the next two innings and Reynolds hit solo HRs in the seventh and eighth. Holman spread 7 hits over seven innings and Mike Jackson worked two scoreless innings to close out the series 3-1 for Seattle.
Next Series Hoston (75-87) vs Philadelphia (77-85)

First Round Houston (75-87) vs Philadelphia (77-85)
Game 1 Philadelphia 5, Houston 0 WP - Terry Mulholland LP - Jim DeShaies SV - Roger McDowell HR - PHI - Dale Murphy, Von Hayes
The Phillies scores 4 in the eighth giving Mulholland all the support he needs as he allows no runs over 7. Joe Boever loads the bases in the ninth before McDowell comes in to record the save.
Game 2 Philadelphia 3, Houston 1 WP - Pat Combs LP - Mike Scott SV - Roger McDowell HR - HOU - Franklin Stubbs, PHI - Lenny Dykstra, Charlies Hayes
The Astros can only muster two hits as Combs pitches 7 innings, only allowing the Stubbs HR. John Kruk and Mickey Morandini go 3 for 4 for the Phillies as they go up 2-0.
Game 3 Houston 4, Philadelphia 3 WP - Mark Portugal LP - Jose DeJesus SV - Dave Smith HR - HOU - Craig Biggio, Glenn Wilson
Neither pitcher last past the sixth as Houston goes up 4-1 in the third and holds off a rally.
Game 4 Houston 4, Philadelphia 0 WP - Bill Gullickson LP - Bruce Ruffin HR - HOU - Casey Candaele
Gullickson pitches a complete game 3 hit shutout that is marred by sloppy fielding as the teams combined for 5 errors. Candaele has a triple to go along with his 2 run homer in the eighth.
Game 5 Houston 1, Philadelphia 0 WP - Jim DeShaies LP - Terry Mulholland SV - Dave Smith
In the first inning, Lenny Dykstra misplays a Glenn Davis single and Davis ends up on third. Glenn Wilson drives him in with a double. Nobody scores again as DeShaies and Mullholland each got eight innings with no earned runs. The Astros come back to win three straight to advance to play Cincinnati as Philadelphia fails to score over the last 21 innings.
Next Series Milwaukee (74-88) vs Texas (83-79)

Looks like regular players got rid of the softball scores for ya. Some fun names in there... I had forgot Dale Murphy was on the Philles.

I might do a tourny like this later on. Maybe play it like the NCAA basketball, pick the 2 worst teams that year, they don't get to play, everyone else does LOL.

The thing I remember most about Dale Murphy is that his rookie card was the most expensive card in the 1977 Topps set I put together when I was a kid at card shows when I was waiting for my dad. He was on the 'rookie catchers' card with Lance Parrish, IIRC... it's probably not worth more than 1/4 of the $30 I had to pay at the time now. Was the last card to finish the set though ... good times.

It was not super memorable He was traded to them during the season but that year was a pretty good year, he batted like .275 and hit 27 HRs which was pretty huge. I was shocked at the comeback because I couldn't believe the Phillies offense would be so enemic for three games. Oh, and softball scores are returning but I'm not pissed. Texas has whipped Brewer ass the first two games of their series. Assuming they complete the sweep, results should be coming tonight.
