From twitter: ยป Gamefann101 @filsingergames when will you explain to your loyal customers why you drastically increased online game price for a ten card set overnight? 17 hours ago
in reply to ↑ @filsingergames Tom Filsinger @gamefann101 The initial price was the mistake. I'll be writing about this in the next few days, special bonus stuff for buyers! 9 hours ago via web

TOM's latest post: I'm swamped in a good (not good, GREAT) way at Fed HQ so I'll explain quickly to loyal promoters and move on to working on releases... Our policy is to be consistent with online prices vs. regular game prices. Every GWF online item should be the same cost as the cards and dice version. Our regular games went from $13 to $19 last year and to maintain consistency we're doing the same for the online release. This is awkward for the online game since there is no clear advantage so here's what I'm going to do this time around...drum roll please... The updated SHE DEVIL playing card (released last year) will be made available to buyers of 2126 free of charge in August. That'll be BONUS #1. BONUS #2 is coming in October and will be a huge card, storyline-wise. It's THE GUARDIAN, mentioned in the 2126 handbook. The print version will be released at GalactiCal in October, but the online version will also be FREE for 2126 buyers. How's that! Hey, we ain't perfect at Fed HQ (we're struggling to attain mediocrity) but we try! HOPE THAT HELPS! THANKS AS ALWAYS FOR YOUR COMMENTS AND SUPPORT!!! I know Tom is trying here but this is a long term problem they created and this is a short term solution. What happens when 2127 comes out and when 2128 comes out? There's still going to be no advantage to buying the Online version.
Why not go in a different direction. Online stuff costs half of what the print version costs. I prefer Online but I was getting Online because it was the superior product. I don't see what the advantages to it are now that the print version has caught up in quality.

I'm a loyal fan since 89, but can't justify the reasoning on this whatsoever.
That makes zero sense because the print version should cost more because you are actually paying for print cost, etc.
I'd seriously take a look because thus could not help business

The other thin is that with as good as printers and graphic programs are now, you could make your own cards. I am not saying that anyone should do this, just that you could

That's what I don't understand. This is going to kill Online. No one is going to pay almost $20 a pop for the Online thing. I bet that will cut the number of people that buy the digital version in half. I was literally going to buy the digital and print versions like I did last year. And now... I'm just going to buy the Online version or the print version. Not both. So they lost a potential extra $13 from me on that. Probably others too. Look at how little talk there was about it compared to other years. I think that had a lot to do with Online being $19.

I understand the beefs behind this with the increase and the lack of justification, but I will buy online next year at $19. I am like Jason, I play online...I only use the cards for stuff like I-CON and other conventions.
To me, it's like gas in the car...you have to have it or you walk. I have to have it...it's about the only purchase from FG I make a year unless there's some GWFZ related sets or some special COTG set that relates to the current stuff. Not saying anyone is wrong here, just saying that I'd be one of those in the minority that don't walk away from the price. I just wish they'd do away with the lesser cards like Abroz/Dialectas and put it in the book to give us another useful card or 12 cards to make it worth the value.

I am assuming that The Leveler got a card this year(?). That is a prefect example of what Avarice was saying, a "new card" that is useless as a playing card, because you can't actually play as them. It could be solved with a chart in the booklet

Online won't be around much longer, IMO.
Note that there's no Chikara online. No mention of the next GWF set... no mention of any updates, and no mention of a new tech guy.
While I'm sure FG will happily take whatever money people give them, I suspect there will be a steady decrease in use until it just goes away.

Exactly. I can't be breaking out cards and dice when I barely have 5 minutes a day to shower. I used to play S!O!S! all the time, but now with my daughter, I can't just leave them on the table and pick up where I left off if I have to go do something. Heck, I haven't started and completed a model in like forever, b/c who has the time.

I'd just like to point out that the "error price" of $13 for legends 2125 slipped through the cracks for an entire year before it was "corrected" after the release of 2126. I wonder how much, if any, the lower price of 2125 online compared to the print version either a.) increased sales of the online version or b.) harmed sales of the print version. I'd be willing to speculate that online sales remained stagnant and sales for the print version at the higher the price were stronger.
Simple equation when it comes to discretionary or entertainment purchases: give me a better or enhanced product and I'll pay a higher price. Expect me to pay a drastic increase without a legitimate justification, additional enhancements, or incentive and I will pass. I can't complain this year because I slipped in under the "error pricing". Next year is decision time.
