Totally fine to post... just thought I'd say so in case anyone else was concerned, or wished to do something similar

There's a guy on the O board wanting Legends Fever which isn't available at FG anymore and taking flak for someone selling or giving him a copy of it. You could pm him over there.

I'd say it was slightly different, in that FG isn't offering the item for sale anymore.. not that makes it less illegal, but, to me, a little more understandable. It's not even a matter of 'it's out of stock right now, but we'll have more in x number of days/weeks'... you don't get alot of info out of FG.. .mostly just 'maybe someday it'll be back!' Not to mention it took the guy nearly 2 months to get that vague and unhelpful answer.
I'd agree with you if someone was making their own copies and selling them, that's bad. If it's a matter of a fan that's sad they can't get something, and another fan helping them out, I feel like, under the circumstances, that's not the end of the world. FG obviously feels that printing more isn't worth it to them.
and then there's the fact that it's extremely difficult to find someone selling stuff... the odd e-bay auction or board posting is really it
What's stupid if for someone to go on to the official company board and ask for an illegal copy of one of their products... duh.
Edit: I just looked at the thread... it wasn't even the original guy that was looking for it... just someone chiming in... totally wierd.

Create one location for aftermarket FG stuff much like there are sites for Strat-O-Matic that do the same. I never list product that's currently still for sale on FG.com though. That's not right.

That and the "define illegal copy" quote are what got me feeling irritated about the deal. The audacity combined with the (likely) feigning of ignorance bothered me. If it's a deal where you contact the company and they say the stuff is never coming back in any form, then you seek alternate methods of getting it. However, the line from Filsinger is that this is getting released in pdf shortly. I will add that there needs to be a way to get things like this back into official circulation a little faster to prevent these situations, though.
Grant has the right idea, in my opinion.

Actually, the answer didn't mention a PDF at all... it was kinda a non-answer, IMO.
this was what the OP said Tom said to him: Hi Scott! No date planned yet. I'm still searching storage, they may just be misplaced. Stay in touch...
As someone runs a book store and talks to publishers of things that go out of print on a regular basis, I know a BS answer when I see it... especially after 2 months.
Then there's the EC set, which literally hundreds of people have asked about, and hasn't be available for years... that's not a good track record for getting stuff out.
If Tom has said, 'We're going to release in PDF at some point after all the exciting new stuff we have planned gets done' Or even 'We're going to do a PDF after the 1st of the year', or something of that nature, I'd agree with you 100%. As it was, I don't blame the guy for taking it to the underground, his folly/stupidity, was in the posting.

Still the guy got a copy of the set from someone else, he wasn't the one that photocopied it or pdfed the cards and sold them. I'll believe pdfs of out of print sets when it actually happens.

So blame the person who made the copies, or the guy who flagrantly asked for them to be copied via the companies own message board in the first place? Two wrongs, as you may have heard, do not make a right. As far as pdf of out of print sets, the following are all out of print but available as pdf downloads: (from the Filsinger Games Online Catalog ) COTGonline-GWF Classics 2074 - printable PD COTGonline-GWF Classics 2079 - printable PDF COTGonline-GWF Classics 2084 - printable PDF COTGonline-GWF Classics 2086 - printable PDF COTGonline-GWF Civil War 2099 - printable PDF COTGonline-GWF Civil War 2100 - printable PDF COTGonline-GWF CPC 2106 - printable PDF Why would it be reasonable to assume Legends Fever would NOT be there soon since so much other stuff is?

Just past knowledge of FG it could be in a month or next year when any other OOP stuff is made a pdf.

But past indicators are that it will, in fact, be released. Unless it's called "Early Classics" and then all bets are off. But it's not; it's Legends Fever and the official line was that there is a pdf coming within the month. If all other official sets that have gone out of print have been released, then there is nothing to lead one to believe this won't be, too. In my opinion having to wait a month or two is not an excuse to get someone to make you a copy. It's just an excuse to save a few bucks. Ripping off the product is not the way to show support for a company.

According to the store the only GWF sets out of print, or sold out as they are marked on the website, are 2099 & 2106. Now I don't know if these are reprints from the PDFs or actual sets or not, but they are available.

I bought most of them in pdf at that time. I know Classics 2086 (I believe) was reprinted in black ink as opposed to the original blue, so perhaps the other stuff was reprinted as well. This may be why he wants to wait until he sees if can actually locate physical copies of Legends Fever before making it a pdf, but he needs to get on it before more people resort to making copies on their own.
