I see his point to a degree.

Actually strike that, I really see his point with some more thought. RoH lowballed him and told him he wasn't worth paying because he doesn't draw. Now the company is trying to make a buck off his name because they're desperate for any kind of money they can make.

Yeah, ROH can put out the DVD but I don't see why Colt has to support it. What's he supposed to say: "Hey guys, go out and buy this DVD about me that makes me no money whatsoever." Man, the nerve of that guy.

Man, the nerve of that guy. No, but he could have just ignored it and not drawn it to the attention to his 128,000+ twitter followers. It's his business, and I generally enjoy his work, but that's probably not the wisest move. With that written, his problem is that he doesn't get a cut of the profits. The ROH that "fired" him (which doesn't actually seem to have been exactly what happened) was run and owned by Cary Silkin. The ROH releasing this DVD is owned and operated by Sinclair Broadcasting. As part of their purchase they also own the ROH library and can do with it as they please. Colt also makes no bones about the fact that the WWE Encyclopedia is the only thing he will charge fans to sign because he never got any royalties from WWE for his inclusion in that book (and he's mentioned that fact several times on his podcast). Colt is all about making money, and when something gets in the way of that he will occasionally break "fun loving guy having fun because he's fun" public character and lash out.

He said that Sinclair gave him a ridiculous offer when they took over.

He said that Sinclair gave him a ridiculous offer when they took over. In his opinion. But that does still not mean it was a Sinclair employee who "fired him", nor was it a member of the current ROH that said what he quotes in that "tweet". By the way, when are you going to cut out all of the pretense and just start responding to every ROH post with "ROH sucks, so meh!" ? ;D

It's not about if RoH sucks or not really. I just see Colt's point of view on it.

I'm reserving my decision on whether or not ROH sucks for when Sin Cara debuts there and botches three moves in the first minute and a half

It's not about if RoH sucks or not really. If I slapped a TNA logo on that DVD we both know you'd be singing a different tune. Back to the topic at hand, apparently the dudes who get profile DVDs made do see royalties from them, including Bryan and Punk and Joe. Granted, it's probably not much but something's better than nothing, right? I mean the motherfucker makes $600 a booking (probably includes trans but fuck that's still a lot) and probably more than that from JCW and NOAH PLUS the shit people buy from ColtMerch. What exactly does he have to be angry about? Oh right, HE GOT FIRED THE PODCAST IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY HIGHSPOTS DOT COM THEY DIDN'T FIRE ME LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DOES There's no reason to believe that Colt wouldn't see something from it, especially since his friend Delirious probably greenlit the DVD (no way someone in Sinclair was like "Hey, let's make this DVD that clearly won't sell!") and why would he do that if there was nothing to gain for Colt? I'm sick of hearing Colt bitch about being fired and how he can't live his dream when he gets $600 a booking and damn well above that when he works for ICP when there's more talented guys on the indies who work for far less than he does. I'm sick of him talking over people on his podcast. Listen to the Eddie Edwards one where Colt cuts him off and goes on and on about WWE. It's fucking ridiculous. I'm sick of his bitter "WAAAAH I SUCK AND WWE FIRED ME BUT PUNK IS WORLD CHAMPION" shtick. He's what, 31 or 32 and bitches about shit on the internet when he's far better off than most other indie guys? Get the fuck out of here. I'm reserving my decision on whether or not ROH sucks for when Sin Cara debuts there and botches three moves in the first minute and a half Does he get extra points for almost botching his entrance?

He's actually got to be about 33 or 34 by now, but that's neither here nor there. It was funny hearing him bitch about Gabe and DGUSA not wanting him and complaining about that company on his podcast, then having to backtrack and admit he was a dick about it when they went out of their way to help him after his hand surgery. Colt's talented and he's personable, but he seems like he can also be his own worst enemy with the way he handles business and rejection.

If he's getting something out of it, then he can go fuck himself honestly. If he's not getting anything out of it I take his side on it.
Colt strikes me as an emotional guy that's trying to sell himself on a certain narrative to his life. When he talks about making it without the WWE, it sounds like he's trying to convince himself as much as anybody else. I'm sure he's doing okay for himself but I think it does eat at him a bit that a majority of his colleagues left him in the dust career wise. I think that life review doesn't look as good as he wants it too. I believe he's 34.

I've always though it was a little ego-centric of him to have all his own merch when he's just an indy wrestler.. I guess if he doesn't support it, who will?
Still, it is odd that RoH would put out a set for him.. it doesn't support an existing talent (like the ones for the Briscoes), or piggy back of guys that have made it big (Like Punk and, to a much lesser extent, Tyler Black). I'm sure a few people will buy it, but it's a weird business decision.

Colt did himself no favors on his podcast this week when Kevin Steen called him out on something he didn't want to talk about. Apparently ROH has been going out of their way to get Colt back in the company and he refuses to talk with them. He was mad at the old ownership and Jim Cornette, and when those two obstacles were cleared his new complaint is that they should have known who he is before they bought the company and reached out to him sooner. He actually seems upset that the first priority of this company was not to know who Colt Cabana was and move heaven and earth to make him happy.
I'd suggest listening to the podcast yourself if you want to get the full story, because I can't do justice to the details of Colt's irrational grudge and justifications for not wanting to talk to them. This stuff all occurs pretty early in the show and it really has to be heard to be believed.

I got far enough in to hear Cabana start bitching and I had to turn it off. I can't stand his voice.
