Maple Leaf Legends of Wrestling Card #325
Card #325: TV Taping: Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto
Gary Michael Cappetta would be the ring announcer for this evenings bouts. Senior referee Pat Flanagan would officiate as Billy Red Lyons and Sandy Hoyt call the action as it happens.
1)Gary Michael Cappetta would introduce Mister X currently in the ring as the evening got underway. Mister X took offense and quickly manhandled Cappetta and took the mic from him. Mister X starts making threats and verbal taunts! While the masked man threatens Cappetta, Al Snow rushes the ring and attacks Mister X by blasting him with his mannequin head! The crowd erupts as the bell rings and the match gets underway. Al Snow would ultimately take the victory after executing a perfect SNOW PLOW finisher for the pin.
2)Exotic Adrian Street would team up with Brutus Beefcake to take on the "hillbilly menace" of Cousin Luke and Hillbilly Jim. In the corner of Beefcake and Street are stable mates Miss Linda and Buff Bagwell. The odds looked to be stacked against the country boys. Hillbilly Jim would be the one to finally fall to the underhanded deeds of Adrian Street during a four man scuffle in the ring. During the distraction Miss Linda attempted to toss a pair of brass knuckles to Adrian Street only to be caught red handed by the official Pat Flanagan! As the Country Boys basked in their victory it would soon come to an end. Adrian Street, Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell stormed the ring and attack! Cousin Luke is assaulted and tossed out of the ring. Adrian's focus was on Hillbilly Jim, the man who has continually made Adrian look the laughing stock. Adrian and his brood attacked with focused intent and leave the big man from Mud Lick, Kentucky injured in a pool of his own blood. Cousin Luke rushed back in with a steel chair as they scrambled out of the ring but not soon enough. Adrian Street wiped the blood of Hillbilly Jim on his chest as a grin, like a Chesire cat overcame his face. Hillbilly Jim would be carried out of the ring on a stretcher. His future in Maple Leaf Wrestling uncertain...
The main event of the evening would see Television Champion Bruiser Brody defending his title against "The Young Stallion" Jim Powers. Billy Red Lyons spoke to Brody in a mid card interview. Brody is quick to play down the successes of Jim Powers and that his first challenge to make it in Maple Leaf Wrestling is to get past him. He promises Powers he will break him and bust him open. No man has defeated Brody and no man will!
3)Giant Bernard would continue his feud from Japan as he faced his rival Giant Baba. Bernard came to Maple Leaf Wrestling specifically to get his vengeance on the Japanese Superstar. However Bernard's lust for vengeance would cloud his ability to best Baba. The match saw two titans collide from one side of the ring to the action even spilling to the outside. However the fan favourite would prevail as Baba executed his NECKBREAKER DROP to bring the Giant Bernard to a crippling defeat. Bernard vowed vengeance once again in a post match interview.
4)Freddie Blassie would take a hard fought victory over Killer Kowalski as these two legends locked up in a match that truly defined what a classic wrestling match entails. The vicious and rather visceral tone of this match had the fans cheering and jeering in kind. Crimson would paint the canvas as Blassie tore into the forehead of Kowalski as he bite him, blood squirting from his maw. Kowalski returned the favour as no object was spared to be used as a weapon. At the end of this battle the two men would have to be physically torn apart by officials and security on duty! Commissioner Jack Tunney made it known that the safety of the fans was paramount and that the next time these two would face one another, it would be from inside a steel cage!
5) The main even of the evening would be for the Television Title of which sat upon the waist of current long time champion Bruiser Brody. "The Young Stallion" Jim Powers had his work cut out for him and he made the TV champion stand up and take notice! The battle was fast and furious. Whatever Brody dished out Powers took it and answered back. Near falls abound as the fans wanted so badly for their young hero to take the win over this sullied and dangerous warlord of the ring. At one point Powers cinched in and landed his devastating POWERSLAM but the hardcore giant from Albuquerque, New Mexico recoiled and kicked out on a 2.5 pin! Powers saw the end in sight and attempted to go high risk and climbed to the top of the turnbuckle.
This would be the rookie mistake that cost the fans champion. Brody recovered and drove his tested big boot into the face of the falling Powers. As Powers crumpled into a heap in the centre of the mat Brody struck! With a bounce of the ropes for more momentum, Brody would get lift off and drive his 284 pounds into a JUMPING KNEE DROP to the head of Powers and take the victory. Boos erupted, garbage was tossed into the ring as the fans showed their disapproval. Brody would retain his title and a crimson masked Powers would be left in the ring. But Brody wasn't satisfied with just a victory. No he wanted more. He wanted to make an example out of the fans hero and that is just what he would do.
Brody tossed the almost lifeless body of an exhausted Powers out the the concrete floor and there he would do the unthinkable. Out of the ring was Brody's playground and where he was the most dangerous. Brody lifted the limp body of Jim Powers into a piledriver and drove his head into the unforgiving concrete. Powers body recoiled and he began to twitched and shake. Official Pat Flanagan pushed Brody back as he motioned for medical assistance out of the back. Brody stood proud as he raised his belt high and moved past EMT's making his way out of the building as the fans screamed for his blood! More garbage showered down in droves. This was definitely not the end of this encounter. Dare it be said that this was just the beginning.
