Tiger Hattori tweeted this poster. Should be noted that ROH announced the Toronto show is called Global Wars as opposed to Border Wars. A trailer for the show will be posted tonight on ROHWrestling.com and the ROH YouTube channel. I'm probably going to take the 10.5 hour trek to New York for War of the Worlds.

Phoning in the last couple of iPPV's before going to broadcast? Maybe?

Phoning in the last couple of iPPV's before going to broadcast? Maybe? Probably more that they have a really thin roster as it is, and even fewer guys the Japanese crowd will buy as threats to New Japan's guys. The top NJPW guys go over, Liger will lose and ROH will come out of this looking worse than they did going in but that's what happens when you co-promote with New Japan. I don't get why people want to see Liger in a main event match in 2014. He's my favorite junior ever, bar none, but he's way past his prime.

Looks like I can't make the trek to NYC (my left knee decided it'd be fun to implode four weeks out from the show, I have to go to the doctor tomorrow and the trip looks to be off), but I'll probably drop the cash to watch the iPPVs for these shows and the Yokohama Arena show on 5/25.

Global Wars snowflakes. ACH/Bennett: ** Decade/reDRagon/Briscoes: ** Alexander/Roddy: **1/4 Bucks/Hooligans/Fake Ass MCMG: *** RD Evans/Bobby Cruise: NR CHAOS/Tanahashi and Liger: **3/4 TV Title Four Way: *** CHAOS/Bullet Club: *** Cole/Steen: DUD
Fuck that main event. Steen hits four powerbombs on the apron and every death move ever and Cole wins with a superkick. This is what happens when guys who don't know how to properly put together a match are put in a main event. Holy shit.

THANK YOU I think today's wrestlers are twice the athletes as yesterday's wrestlers, but this is why I keep up with today's wrestling, but don't follow it - moves don't mean anything . Frustrates me more than anything

It reminds me of when the piledriver was instant death in the old days. If one of those was executed you were most likely going to lose..so if you did manage to kick out, people knew you were special.
Nowadays, you drop four of them and a guy shrugs it off. Give me old school Memphis on youtube any day.

Nowadays, you drop four of them and a guy shrugs it off. Give me old school Memphis on youtube any day. To me, there is a need for a balance to be struck. People at large want to see "kewl movez", but the old adage "less is more" is still true---to some extent. I appreciate a lot of the older styles that defined territorial wrestling, but I also appreciate Marvel comics from the 60s and classic silent films like Nosferatu and Faust for what they are without fooling myself as to why they wouldn't work if released today. Things evolve. A lot of these groups like ROH give their wrestlers more creative freedom (in exchange for less pay. "Hey, we can't pay you much, but we can let you express yourself creatively....") but that's a double edged sword with a lot of younger guys who just want to "get their shit in" with little regard for when and in what order to do said shit (and Steen at 30 years old is not even that young, so his excuse is just a career of reinforced bad habits). ROH would do well to have some locker room leaders or match coordinators making sure things don't get too far out of hand.

They had those once, and nobody wanted to listen to them because they were 'putting limits on what guys could do'. And there you go. Guys like Lance Storm, Jerry Lynn, and even Brutal Bob Evans could teach these guys a thing or three about what to do and when to do it. They need leadership to tell them to listen up or get lost. Bottom line.
