So how many have been able to bring others into the fold and play? Recently my stepson asked about "that wrestling card game you play with the dice". So I showed him and he was excited about it. He is normally a video game kid so when he saw the game he was wowed by it. So I ordered him up the New Beginning Intro set to get him started. Hopefully he will stick with it and continue to play for as long as possible. I am really excited that he is into it and hope my two year old (when he comes of age) will be interested in it as well.

My youngest brother played for a while when he was younger and my other half plays. However it seems to me a lot of time, kids play the game when they're younger (to be with daddy and what not) and then lose interest as they get older. Hopefully though the game will get more converts so I hope they maintain their interest, CPB.

My step son received his set of New Beginning and LOVES it. He played until 2:30 in the morning and took it with him when he went to visit his father for three weeks. Also another friend who was sitting on the fence about playing finally purchased the Legends intro set and the andre card. I am slowly getting some others to come into the fold as well.

Me and Payback sold hundreds of CHIKARA sets a few years ago to people who were seeing the game for the first time. Tom sent me a ton of games and we traveled around through PA, Illinois and Detroit selling them. I obviously can't discuss the legal details but I know ROH has moved hundreds of sets to their fans through us because I helped set up the deal w the lawyers. They get X amount of games each time we put a set out and they always come back for more. New doors keep opening and bigger names keep getting cards so we must be doing something right. Before color, I had a harder time getting others into the game. Color (or lack there of) was always a hurdle others had trouble getting over. It used to frustrate me. Why couldn't they look past that and see all the amazing things the game offered? But they couldn't. Color was the best thing that ever happened to this game.

That doesn't surprise me... people that have no interest in the game at all might by it just for the cards as they are now... especially the typical indy wrestling fan... they're nice looking and great for autographs. If a few of those end up trying the game and getting into it, it's a bonus.
I wonder if those sales translated into anyone checking out the GWF? If young, modern wrestling fans are going to be interested, I'd think it'd be Chikara fans, which all the way out storylines they have.

My friend who purchased the Legends set was going to get into Champions but wasn't sure about the sci fi part. So he opted to learn the system and the game by playing with the Legends/Indy stuff first and then transition into Champions. Either way getting the game overall noticed by mainstream gamers whether they are wrestling fans or not is all good in my books.

Payback especially had a ton of success showing new players how to play the game during that little tour. He literally sat there every show and played whoever wanted to play him. He got a lot of kids to really love it. One kid's burnout dad wouldn't buy it for the little guy (prob no more $$$) and the kid kept coming back to play matches, so Payback just bought the kid his set. That's the teacher in him. We put some GWF cards into the box sets, then Tom's plan is to always follow up with mailers. He has mentioned getting new regular GWF and LOW buyers who first bought an indy box set, but I have no idea how many.

I'm not a huge sci-fi/comic book guy but the players in the community who are tell me they have friends with common interests who got into the game during the BD era and are getting into Future Shock. I'm a wrestling purist with a growing interest in sci-fi/comic stuff thanks mostly to stuff Osk introduces me to. I see now that Tom was probably trying to get some cross over sci-fi fans with the BD era. Probably smart. I decided the ROH game is so incredibly perfect in that old school wrestling way, that the GWF doesn't always have to be. Best of both worlds. LOW fans probably have similar feelings.

I really enjoy seeing my step son get wide eyed when he comes down from his room to explain to me what was happening in the first few cards of his first ever fed. He got very animated while giving me a description of the action happening in and around the ring. Last I spoke to him he was doing a EPIC Tournament to crown his first ever GWF Heavyweight Champion. He was running a angle where Switchblade has a major issue with The Gamemasters and got himself suspended but still shows up and does a "through the crowd raid/sneak attack on members of The Gamemasters that might be having a fight that evening. He would roll a die to see if Switchblade would rush the ring or not. He is really hoping Endgame wins his title for the first time. He really likes him.
