Matt Sydal joining the roster with this set. I'll be interested to see the strength of his card. me too I signed Sydal to the game back at PWG last summer and he thought the game was cool but he was somewhat concerned about his possible game stats. I remember Sydal told me something like "I consider myself a pretty good wrestler and I think I should get pretty good stats." Since I am not part of the ROH team (although I did contribute to statting the Davey Richards card,) I sent Sydal's personal contact info to Swarm and I hope he was able to make contact with Sydal about his card. For the first time in about 2 years, (I think the last signing I made get announced was the Warlord,) today it was awesome to see a signing I made get announced! Pretty cool that he would take an interest in his moves. He's a good hand, so here's hoping he's in Legends as well

I'm thinking he'll be a TV Title guy right out of the gate and then I might move him up to a World Title guy.

That's some awesome Jay Lethal art! You can really see how far Werner has come when you look at the 4 updates in this set compared to their original drawings. Lethal, Fish, O'Reilly and Cedric all looked good before, and the new artwork for each blows the originals away (IMO).

I think the original versions are all good, but the artistic direction for the ROH brand maybe wasn't fully developed yet. It seems like the attempt was to do with ROH what worked for Chikara, but they're two very distinct products and each requires a different approach. I think with the last couple of editions the ROH stuff has really hit its stride in all regards.

I think with the last couple of editions the ROH stuff has really hit its stride in all regards. funny, but these new BG's kind of happened on accident. First one we did like this was AJ Styles where we took his personal logo and created a BG out of it. We wanted to get away from the "aura" BG's, just to try something new. Then with Evolve, we had a new style BG where we used real pictures and turned them into negatives. Some looked good, some others it didn't look as good, plus there might have been issues with using said pics. So literally just hours before the cards were to go to print, we scrambled to find personal logos (from shirts, posters, social media accounts etc...) for all the guys and the rest is history. We got that idea from the shirt Werner created for Gargano (which is now his BG). The wrestlers love it, the fans seem to love it. Glad we fell into them the way we did.

That's some awesome Jay Lethal art! There will always be those promoters who prefer all new wrestlers to updates no matter how much sense it makes. All 4 of these updates have become obsolete to the current ROH storyline. They're still great to own and play for new players interested in playing through ROH history, but there's just no way you can justify NOT updating RedDRagon and Lethal when all 3 have come so far as champs since that box set. Cedric is like a brand new guy with a singles update. If it were me, and we got Cheeseburger, Adam Page, Moose and RD Evans (for example), I'd be the first one asking where the hell are the updates for all these guys who have come so far in the fed since the box set came out? Gotta stay current with the product. These are the guys ROH is pushing as their champions. Champs > undercard guys all day long. I was really hoping getting Silas Young would show fans that patience is a virtue, and that eventually, all these guys will have cards.

The backgrounds are definitely cool. I like the updates for O'Reilly, Fish and Alexander. Lethal not quite as much but hey, if the majority of people are happy, all the better.

I think that's the difference between following a current product, and the legends stuff (or even GWF). For historical guys, I think most people want as many different guys as possible... different versions of a guy at different points in their career or whatever are really only good if you want the particular version that's being created, and are the type that just adjusts the card to their liking anyway. For a current product, it sucks to have a card of a guy that doesn't represent him as you're seeing him on TV... it can really turn you off. I feel like it's alot less 'wasted' when it's a current guy in a current fed. I'd imagine the guys and the feds themselves want to see star cards of the guys they're pushing, too.

Stat wise RD and Cedric are TOTALLY different. Lethal adds a new finisher and some heel moves. It's not like these guys just got new art.

Got my set today. Everything looks great. Probably bringing back my ROH fed (again). That or I'll just pick up my one from the OBoard where I left off but fuck me that's a lot of shows to migrate from there to here.

I think I might bring back Underground Wrestling and cram all the sets back together again. Looks good. War Machine is going to be an interesting addition to the tag scene.
