Final hype video and it's for the match that I'm looking forward to the most.

Well, tonight's the night. Between this and UFC 182, this is going to be one hell of a fun night of rasslin and MMA.

Snowflake Kingdom 9~ New Japan Rumble: ** Jr. Tag Title 4 Way: ***1/2 TenCozy and Honma/Bullet Club: **1/2 Yano and friends/Suzukigun: ** Sakuraba/Suzuki: ***3/4 Ishii/Makabe: **** Taguchi/Omega: **3/4 Bullet Club/Meiyu Tag: ***1/2 Styles/Naito: ****1/4 Nakamura/Ibushi: ****3/4 Tanahashi/Okada: ****3/4
One of the best shows I've seen in years. If we're purely talking shows that aired PPV in the states, you've gotta go back a decade or so to find a show that comes close to this. Worth every penny for the Ibushi/Nakamura and Tanahashi/Okada classics, the AJ/Naito match and the Ishii/Makabe slugfest.

^ Those ratings are no exaggeration. Actually, on the 5 snowflake scale I'd give Nakamura/Ibushi a 6! I subscribed to NJPW World to watch this (only 999 yen!) and it was worth every penny and more. That was the best wrestling shows from top to bottom that I've seen in recent memory. It took place live from 1AM to 5 AM my time and I was wide awake for the entire thing. A lot of WWE PPVs that go from 7PM to 10 PM lately have made me fall asleep midway. There's just no comparison: New Japan is putting on easily the best WRESTLING product in the world right now. If you think Japanese wrestling is stoic men in black trunks hitting each other real hard, think again. This show had the presentation, the showmanship, and the athleticism a whole lot of lapsed wrestling fans are probably sorely missing in the current mainstream US product.

That's actually pretty much EXACTLY how I'd describe most of my experience with Japanese wrestling, maybe I'll try to check this out at some point. So is Jarrett mostly just a wrestling broker/promoter, rather than actually creating his own product? Or will there be an actual Global Force Wrestling at some point?

That's "Old Japan" (or old All Japan); this is NEW New Japan. Some of the best showmen in the business are competing in Japan right now, AND they can wrestle. Apparently Global Force is going to be a separate entity, and they will also be working with New Japan and Triple A in Mexico to bring international wrestling to US fans.

New Japan slowly altered the style when Tanahashi became their ace. They started to incorporate a lot of sports entertainment into the product.

I'm also really surprised that Tanahashi retained here. I was certain he was going to drop it to Okada.

I figured Okada would win here as well. Interesting to note is that Tanahashi said the same thing to Okada after this match that he did when Okada returned three years ago and challenged him for the title, that roughly being, "IWGP is so far ahead of you."
I'm guessing Okada wins the New Japan Cup and challenges the winner of AJ/Tanahashi (which is likely the next title match) in April at Invasion Attack.

That makes sense. Have AJ win it back and then have Okada avenge that title loss.

That's what it seems like they'll do. I don't think Tanahashi will make it 3-0 over AJ, it wouldn't make much sense.

It makes sense in that regard. AJ might not draw for the big show so take the belt off of him for it. I expected Okada to win here but I also thought it was bad booking because he needed to beat AJ for the belt. So the booking is looking a little better in regards to that now.
