THE CHAMBER - JOHN GRISHAM
I've read quite a few of John Grisham's novels but this one is my favorites. The main character Sam Hall is on death row for a crime he didn't commit and actually tried to prevent but is willing to take the blame for to protect his family who have all disowned him because of the crime. As the story goes you find out that Sam has done plenty of other things to deserve the death penalty. Grisham creates a character that you feel sorry for and hate at the same time. The book also goes into details about the death penalty and what's involved in the appeal process,

I read some Grisham books. I liked The Firm, but the others (The Pelican Brief, The Client, and a few others) just never sucked me in. I know that he has sold like a billion books. But it is like James Patterson (who's Alex Cross books are really good), some people never read his stuff and others read it immediately the day it comes out.

I got tired of the Alex Cross books after the fourth or fifth one. I also got tired of Clive Cusslers Dirk Pitt novels after a while. John Grishman isn't quite as bad because his books usually focus on different parts of the legal system so it gives some variety. The chamber and a time to kill are his best ones IMO

I think part of the reason that I have never gotten into Grisham is because they are about the legal system. A Time To Kill was pretty good, but again, it just didn't suck me in.
I tend not to read books in a series, but sometimes there are exceptions. My tastes run more towards horror anyway.

Good Zombie Reads I picked up the first one {Plague of the Dead} based off a review that I read in Rue Morgue. It was really good and draws you in quickly. I picked up the second book immediately and read them back to back (something I tend NOT to do).

I am finally getting a chance to read World War Z. I have had it sitting on the pile for a while. I have Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on the pile as well.

I've read a few Grishams.. they're pretty good if you like lawyer stories, but that's not really my thing. I'm not usually a Zombie guy, but the Abe Lincoln book is pretty fun, some very cool photoshopped pictures in there. The book itself was great for the 1st half, but then kinda petered out... worth a read, though, especially if you like the genre. Here's the last book I read: www.amazon.com/Mainspring-Jay-Lake/dp/0765356368/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282604509&sr=8-5#reader_0765356368 Mainspring By Jay Lake It's pretty unique... the premise is that the all of God's Creation is a big mechanical device, and Jesus came to re-wind the spring. The story revolves around an apprentice clockmaker who is told by the angel Gabriel he has to do it again. It's set in Victorian times, but with no American Revolution. Good stuff if you like Steam Punk... I'm reading the 2nd one (it's a trilogy) next.
