The film will be directed by Rupert Wyatt and will be released on June 24, 2011. This will be a new film in the Planet of the Apes series.

The Tim Burton version was a huge let down, Tim Roth and Helena Bonham Carter were really good in the film and it was nice to see Charleton Heston in it but over all it was the worst film in both the old and new versions of the series, even the tv series was better. I hope this one will be good, glad Tobey Maguire is not in this film, he sucks! James Franco is a good choice and Andy Serkis is another solid choice...

I didn't think I would like the last film but I did. I thought they did a decent job. I'm not sure where I would rate the last movie compared to the original five but I think it was better than number five and the tv series. Hopefully this movie will explain the ending of the last one

My little cousin (when she was 3) loved Tim Burton's movie (whicgh she dubbed "The Monkey Movie") as she found all the apes hysterically funny! She laughed so hard she peed herself.

Just reading the Apes in this film will all be CGI, I don't care for that process for this film but I guess it would be cheaper for them to do that. If you followed the old series of films { Planet of the Apes (1968), Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971), Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) and Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973) } Conquest is about Caesar rising up and is a prequel but if this is a relaunch of this series and away from Burtons this would be a good thing and build from that but I just don't know if this all CGI Apes is a good thing and yes Avatar used CGI's for the blue skinned race but I just don't know if I'll like this for the Apes...

The CGI thing makes me worry a little also. I read that this movie is basically a remake of conquest

The CGI thing makes me worry a little also. Yeah, I know that CGI is so much better now but they will really need to make this one as real as possible to pull it off, guess we'll have to wait and see... I read that this movie is basically a remake of conquest Well being it will have a modern day theme but if it follows the old one with the basics it should be good and a true launching pad for this series if it is a success and they plan to make more... Just on a different note, no one will ever replace Roddy McDowall in this franchise...
