Anyone else remember this game and have any thoughts on it? I found a ton of my old cards a few months back but looking through them now, I might actually try to learn the game.

I remember when it came out... IIRC, the boosters were themed for a particular wrestler. I never bought any of the cards though... was into Magic at the time.

I had a starter at one time, couldn't really get into it though the old Vs. System (Marvel/DC) card game played kinda sorta like Magic. They had wrestler themed decks and booster packs. I remember as far as the starters went, my cousin and I had: Steve Austin Triple H The Rock Kane The Undertaler Tazz Kurt Angle Chris Benoit Chris Jericho Randy Orton and maybe a few others. Back then I couldn't make sense of the rules (never gave it much of a try truthfully), but reading them now the game seems really easy.

I was big into Raw Deal. About a year ago I got rid of my collection, which was thousands of cards. The starters were wrestler specific, but the boosters were random. For a time, I was a force on the DFW tournament scene with my Billy & Chuck deck.

Hmm.. if you can make Billy and Chuck be a force... either you're brilliant or the game doesn't really care about the relative strengths of the wrestlers

The more damage dealt, the more cards you opponent takes off his deck, the quicker the match ends. That or someone was fucking around and made Billy and Chuck god-tier.

I guess it depends on whether what wrestler you use is a matter of style, or if some are better than others, or if they're simply for color and have no impact.

The thing that made Billy and Chuck work was the fact that you could use all of Billy Gunn's cards in a Billy and Chuck deck. Billy Gunn (in his Mr. Ass persona) had been in the game since the second set, which means that Billy and Chuck entered the game with a nice little arsenal of special cards already available to them. My Billy and Chuck deck was built around control, that is to say, denying my opponent the ability to do much of anything on their turn, and whittling away their hand and their deck with cards that forced discards.
