Even before the first fight card. controversy abounds.
Apparently, the loophole NEWS sought to use to lure Randy Savage away from SMW was not as sure as first thought.
When asked, Shane McMahon stated that he was sure an arrangement with SMW could be made, and commented that he would be sure to not take the word of certain family members when he comes to legal matters in the future.

Just a little out-of-character promoter talk -
I played the 1/2 half of my card last night. Why the 1st half? Because the dice completely destroyed my booking, that's why.
Literally, EVERY match went the way it wasn't 'supposed' to go. Not one upset. Not even 2.... 6 in a row. I've never played a card and been totally at a loss as to what to do next... it'll be... interesting, to say the least.

Hmm, so pre-rolling matches and working out the booking later is sounding better....

Definitely an interesting title tournament.

NEWS Card #1: A Champion is Crowned XL Center Hartford, CT 8/2/12
Commissioner and Owner Shane McMahon welcomed the crowd, and introduced the 8 men who would compete for the NEWS Champion. John Cena was the clear crowd favorite, with the Macho Man getting the biggest negative reaction.
NEWS Championship Preliminary Round 'Moondog' Lonny Mayne* def. HHH***** (standing choke) Stunning upset to start!! Triple H seemed tgo take Mayne for granted, and wasn't able to cope with his unusual style. As the crowd started to sense an upset was possible, 'PNW' chants started floating down from the cheap seats.
Jeff Jarrett def. Austin Aries by DQ (Stevie Richards Interference) This match never really got started. Jarrett had been talking trash all week about Richards from when he was in Tri-State Wrestling, and Richards clearly took.. but at the expense of Austin Aries' title chance. Aries was not happy as Jarrett and Richards were separated by Security.
Dutch Savage def. John Cena**** (Running Piledriver) PNW represents! Cena was dominated from the opening bell, as Savage looked better than ever. The crowd was stunned as the tournament favorite goes down in the 1st round.
Stevie Richards*** def. Randy Savage*** by DQ (Jeff Jarrett Interference) Richards looked great back in the ring, and put up a surprisingly stiff defense against the Macho Man. As the action spilled outside, Jeff Jarrett returned to ringside and broke a guitar over Richards' head, forcing the DQ again. Savage chased Jarrett to the back before Richards could get back in the fight.
---- APA def. World's Greatest Tag Team***** (backbreaker on Haas) Long match, but really an easy win for the APA.
After the match, the Miz came out to mock Benjamin and Haas, and promise them they wouldn't win the tag title, since he had a tag partner. He then introduced him... Mr. Kennedy! Kennedy told them that they didn't look so great to him... that he and the Miz were Even Better.
NEWS Champion Semi-Finals Jeff Jarrett* def. Lonny Mayne (The Stroke) Mayne seemed to have decided beating HHH was enough of a days work.. he was lethargic in this one, and Jarrett took advantage.
Dutch Savage def. Stevie Richards** (Sleeper) It seems the crowd has adopted Savage... Richards was taken aback from the ever growing PNW chants. Dutch overpowered Stevie and advanced to the finals easily. --- The Miz def. Alex Shelley*** The Miz was done making enemies today, telling Shelley he was small time, and that he should go back to Crunchies bar as he avoided Shelley's high flying.
The Dudley Boyz def. Jack/Gerry Brisco** (3D) The Dudleys look like they wanted to send a message to the other teams, and obliterated Gerry Brisco en route to an easy victory/
NEWS Championship Match Dutch Savage*** def. Jeff Jarrett*** (Running Piedriver)
Savage had the crowd fully behind him in the finals, as he took advantage of Jarrett's fatigue to cruise through to win the title.

NEWS Card #2: Twice as Nice 8/6/12 Ryan Center, Kingston, RI
The card opened with John Cena in the ring, mocking HHH. Trips came out and reminded Cena that he lost, too. Cena pointed out that he's not the one opening for the tag team guys, even though he's sleeping with the boss' sister.
HHH was furious, but Lonny Mayne chose that time to come out for their match, as Cena headed to the back with a big smile on his face.
Lonny Mayne def. HHH*** (top Rope Clothesline) Hemsley looked slow and sluggish in the ring, and Mayne actually made short work of him... generating another 'PNW' chant as his hand was raised.
Tag Team Title Tournament Coleman/Alexander****** def. World's Greatest Tag Team**** (roll up after missed Shooting Star Press) Epic match! The visitors were on their game, and refused to stay down no matter what Haas and Benjamin threw at them. Shelton went for the high risk move to finished Caprice Coleman off, and failed.
Motor City Machine Guns def. APA*** (Superkick on Bradshaw) Shelley and Sabin were able to keep the pace up and stay away from their more powerful opponents and get what has to be considered an upset victory!
Jack/Gerry Brisco def. Hart Foundation***** (Russian Leg Sweep on Bret) With the Anvil standing on the apron, the Briscos put on a tag team clinic, cutting the ring in half and wearing Bret down for over 10 minutes before finally getting the pin. Niedhart was livid and came in with guns blazing, but the Briscos wisely made haste to the back.
Even Better def. Dudley Boyz** (Mic Check) Easy win for the brash new team, the Dudleys looked like they were standing still, as the trend of the faster, more agile wrestlers dominating their more powerful opponents continues. Kennedy delivered a perfect Shooting Star Press to Devon, as Miz shouted 'See, Shelton? That's how you do it' before finishing the deal with the Mic Check.
Intermission Austin Aries def. Stevie Richards* (Last Chancery) Aries got a small measure of revenge for his DQ in the title tourament with a dominant win over Richards. He called out Shane McMahon after the match, demanding he 'do the right thing' and give him a title shot!
Non-Title Match John Cena def. Dutch Savage* (DQ - HHH interference) The Champ was in control early, but Cena quickly was able to get on a roll. HHH hit the ring with his sledge hammer when he went for the 5 knuckle shuffle. Hunter delivered a shot to Cena's back, forcing the referee to ring the bell, then returned uncertainly to the back.. seemingly struggling some with the weight of his weapon.
Tag Team Tournament Semi-Finals
Jack/Gerry Brisco def. Coleman/Alexander* (Figure Four) Coleman and Alexander were both out of gas after their epic battle with WGTT, and the Briscos won easily.
Motor City Machine Guns** def. Even Better (Schoolboy with Tights) Miz and Kennedy looked to be on their way to another easy win, when Miz got a little too close to the Guns' corner, allowing Shelley to deliver a vicious kick to the head from the apron, and Sabin to roll him up for the victory! Miz was furious, but Shelley just smiled and said 'sometimes we do fight over in Crunchies Bar'.
#1 Contenders Match 'Macho Man' Randy Savage** def. Jeff Jarrett* (flying Elbow Drop) Savage took the Stroke twice, before a frustrated Jarrett made a mistake and never really got back going again.
NEWS Tag Team Title Match Motor City Machine Guns def. Briscos** (Cradle Shock/low blow/Sliced Bread #2 combo) Shelley and Sabin offered a handshake at the beginning of the match, but were ruthless once it began. When Jack Brisco escaped the Cradle Shock, Shelley came in and delivered a horrendous low blow as the referee turned to make sure Sabin went to he apron before finishing the job. Jack Brisco looked madder than a nest of hornets as his brother Gerry helped him to the back.

NEWS-worthy Notes NEWS' next card will be a great one at the P-Pac... one we can only call... A SAVAGE ENOUNTER As the Macho Man takes his place as the first challenger to NEWS champion Dutch Savage. The question on everyone's lipped after 'Twice as Nice' was a simple one...what's wrong with HHH? 4.bp.blogspot.com/-Y3k57vM1248/TpM7MSRdaOI/AAAAAAAABnI/Ne0UF1Po2I0/s1600/hhh.jpg [/img] Rumors abound... is HHH injured? The current rumor making the rounds is Helmsley was planning to take some time away from wrestling to rest his often-troubling Quads, but that his wife insisted he return to the ring to help Brother-in-Law Shane McMahon gets NEWS off the ground. NEWS officials will thus far only say HHH needs some rest, and will not be at the next two NEWS events. IN the Ring, 'Savage Enounter' should be EPIC. The tag team champions will be challenged in singles action, as Alex Shelly takes on Mr. Kennedy, and Chris Sabin takes on Jack Brisco. What about the Miz, you say? Shelley promises a surprise for him. The Hart Foundation and the APA will clash, with both teams trying to put disappointing performances in the tag tournament behind them. Plus Austin Aries! Jeff Jarrett! Don't miss it!

NEWS Card #3: Savage Encounter Providence Performing Arts Center 8/10/12
Lonny Mayne def. Austin Aries* (Top Rope Clothesline) Lonny Mayne continued to dominate every opponent Shane McMahon puts in front of him, this time Austin Aries. Mayne answered the 'PNW' chants by motioning around his waist... could Mayne be the next NEWS champion?
APA** def. Hart Foundation*** (backbreaker on Niedhart) The Anvil started the match for the Harts, only to be in the unusual position of getting completely overpowered... the APA manhandled both opponents, winning easily.
John Cena def. Jeff Jarrett** (STFU) Cena came out with a title belt and a 'It's not just what we do, it's TRADITION' T-shirt. When the bell rang, he showed his technical side, outwrestling Jarrett and getting him to tap in the middle of the ring.
Cena: A few people in this company seem to thing that you can't be a good wrestler with out... Cena motions to the capacity crowd you guys. I know a thing or two about Crunchies Bar. Rob Bennett maybe a unreliable son of a bitch, but he knows wrestling, and those little cards at Crunchies are some of the best damn wrestling that I've ever been involved in. This belt, is the Heritage Title... MY Heritage Title. I won it, and never lost it. Colt, you want some? Come get some.
Even Better appeared on the ramp, clapping at Cena's performance
Miz: Well, what do you know... even the golden child, the chosen one, can decend to the pits of wrestling hell once in a well. Shelley, maybe someday you'll crawl out of there, but probably not, because you , are not Awesome.
Kennedy: ... and not I'm going to show all these people just how scared and small time you really are.
Cena, without turning his back to Miz or Kennedy, left the ring, patting Shelley on the shoulder in support as he headed to the back.
Mr. Kennedy (w/ the Miz) def. Alex Shelley(w/ Chris Sabin) (Mic Check) Shelley came to the ring with a mic, but Kennedy jumped him before he got to say anything, never letting up and getting an easy victory. Miz quickly was into the ring to do some damage, getting Sabin into the ring and touching off a brawl. Miz snatched the Title Belts from the timekeeper, and took out Sabin, then Even Better went to work on Shelley. Kennedy got the ring steps, while Miz delivered the Skull Crushing Finale, knocking Shelley unconscious. Miz and Kennedy draped the title belts on the fallen champions before heading to the back.
They didn't quite make it all the way, as former Tradition stand-by AJ Styles hit the ring! Styles told the crowd he had a date with the Miz in that ring...right now!
AJ Styles def. The Miz (Styles Clash) Battered and bewildered, the Miz didn't stand a chance.
Jack Brisco* def. Chris Sabin** match of the night! Brisco was bewildered by Sabin's offense at first, but weathered the storm and was able to trap in on the ground to get the win.
After the match, Brisco offered Sabin his hand, and said he and Gerry would wait for their re-match until his partner was 100%... and that he'd teach 'those punks' a lesson in the meantime. Sabin thought about it briefly, than took his hand.
Dudley Boyz def. World's Greatest Tag Team*** (3D) The Dudleys were on a mission, and obliterated Charlie Haas as Shelton Benjamin looked on in horror. Bubba Ray reminds the pussies taht were just in the ring they were all in for a trip behind the woodshed before long.
NEWS Heavyweight Title Match 'Macho Man' Randy Savage def. Dutch Savage** (Flying Elbow Drop) New champion! Dutch Savage tried to slow the Macho Man down, but to no avail. the new champ countered everything he had and was able to claim the title!

Sorry for not posting sooner... been busy!
Card #4: Head Games August 13th, 2012 Worcester Civic Center
The show opens with John Cena in the ring, wearing his Tradtition Heritage Title belt.
Cena: Look Colt.... or should I call you Scotty? Anyway, look, I have nothing but respect for you guys that toil away putting on great matches in places like Crunchies, that's why I'll go there sometimes, and how I got this.
But understand, that just because you can please the 'marks' doesn't mean you're a champion. A champion can get it done anywhere, from the Bingo Hall to Madison Square Garden. At Dog Daze, lets just see if you really are the champion you say you are. I'll bring my belt, you bring yours, and we'll see who comes out on top.
Austin Aries def. John Cena*** (Brain Buster) Cena seemed to be to trying to wrestle 'indy style' but Aries was one move ahead of him the entire match.
After the victory, Aries encouraged Cena to go beat Colt Cabana and bring that title back, so he could take it from him.
World's Greatest Tag Team*** def. Hart Foundation** (Belly to Belly Suplex Both teams really needed a victory, and Haas and Benjamin got it in an excellent match. Charlie Haas got a mild pop from the crowd as he promised they'd live up to their billing and represent NEWS at King of Trios.
Even Better came out to the ring after the match, and it seems it was Mr. Kennedy's turn for the mic. After his usual spiel (complete with boos) he got down to business.
Kennedy: Now that the loser brigade is in the back, it's time to get down to business. Alex Shelley, you can play games, and pretend injuries, or hang out with indy losers all you like... the fact of the matter is, we're better than you, and you little bum buddy, and everyone else in this territory. It's only a matter of time before Mr. McMahon give us a shot, and we prove it. APA's music hits, and Farooq chases Miz to the back Bradshaw: That's enough of your yapping, let's see what you're made of!
Bradshaw def. Mr. Kennedy* (Clothesline from hell) Kennedy was totally unprepared for a match, and got driven into the ground by the big Texan... easy win for Bradshaw here.
Jeff Jarrett** def. Stevie Richards** (DQ - Guitar Shot) The hatred between these to men goes back for months, and they're still at it. They really tore into each other, with Jarrett getting the upper hand until he took the action outside the ring with bad intentions. Richards had it well scouted, and kicked him in the gut to turn the tables on his planned guitar shot. He didn't seem at all bothered by the DQ, and had to be held back by security before Jarrett was seriously injured.
Before the champ came out, Shane McMahon announced that if either Lonny Mayne or Dutch Savage win the match, they'd get the next shot at the champ, if not, his partner for the evening, the Miz would!
Old School Outlaws def. Randy Savage/The Miz** (DQ -belt shot on Mayne) The Macho Man apparently decided to pick his own opponent, smashing Mayne with the belt to cause the DQ. Shane wasn't amused, nor was Miz, who got in Savage's face after the match. Dutch Savage, not appreciating being ignored, hit both from behind with a double clothesline, touching off a wild brawl the took some time to sort out.
Jack Brisco was back stage, and told the fans he was very disappointed in Alex Shelley's SAW appearance. They way he sees it, he was either faking an injury, or disrespecting the NEWS tag titles. Either way, he promised he was going out to the ring with his brother to take them.
NEWS Tag Team Title Match Jack/Gerry Brisco* def. Motor City Machine Guns**** (Figure Four on Shelley) New Tag Team champions! Jack Brisco was a man on a mission, and continually foiled both Shelley and Sabin at every turn. Shelley and Sabin had no answer for his slick counters.
