It's easy to be loyal to Stan Lee. He's fucking Stan Lee, probably the single greatest legend in the history of superhero comics. Tom Filsinger is, well, just Tom Filsinger. 50 years from now Stan Lee's work will still be viewed and enjoyed by millions and millions of people. 50 years from now, Tom Filsingers work will be enjoyed by ten kids who found a Star Warrior or Thantos card in their grandparents basement.

You know what the sad thing is? Tom wouldn't even HAVE to pay someone. If he offered a free set for the best character bio, he'd have them in 24 hours. Unless it's the .10 for the sheet of paper and printer toner that's the problem.

You know what would keep this from happening? Other than actually printing up a little sheet with the wrestlers' information and sticking it in with the cards (I mean damn, this could be done with a home printer on a piece of copy paper for a couple of cents apiece and be better than nothing)? Someone did that with the ROH belts, not sure why they can't do the same thing with the bios for the 6 packs.

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly Stan Lee ever did for Tom. There was never a Marvel character GWF card. There was never a new guy Stan just made up to be in Tom's game. There was never a COTG comic book. What was there? There was a Politcal Calender that had nothing to do with comics or the game. Some rub huh?

Dude,
You can disparage Tom Filsinger and Filsinger Games all you want. However, Julie Newmar is beyond reproach, sir! No joke.
The thing I think he's getting at is that he was a fan of Stan Lee without question, and that's an old fashioned sort of loyalty. Fans now demand their money's worth and a sense that the person responsible for what they're buying is giving them the most for their money. Especially in a climate where costs are going up every time you turn around: gas is about 2.5X the cost it was four years ago, food is up by a nice percentage, energy costs are up across the board, and paychecks remain static at best in most cases. You need to come hard with good product as a person delivering non-essential entertainment. The argument is largely that this is not the case. Coincidentally this is what is hurting comic book sales too, as it's getting harder to justify paying $3.99 for 22 pages of paper.
A Stan Lee created character would have been pretty nice, by the way. Stan Lee is so great he could come up with a practically iconic new character in a matter of minutes. It would have been a nice cross-promotion with the book a few year back, but it was a missed opportunity.

The Stan Lee character sounds like an awesome idea. I was wondering if Tom ever mentioned it to him so I asked him. I'll post the answer if I get one

I'll post the answer if I get one "A long time ago I asked about the rights to some characters he created for a series, I think it was called the Seventh Portal. Problem was legal rights and stuff like that". Did you ever ask him to create something specifically for COTG ? "No, I guess I never thought of it!" Thanks MT "Problem is Stan doesn't own the rights to his own creations and I'd still need permission from others. Can't be ruled out though."

Seventh Portal was REALLY bad.. that was went he was fighting with Marvel... super derivative stuff.
Stan Lee making a GWF guy would rock, even if it was cheesy, just on principle.
I always though Tom should have had Bendis do one, too, if he could... get some more comic geeks into the game.
Sadly, those ships are probably long since sailed.

There's a lot of stuff Tom could have done and didn't. One thing that blows my mind is his unwillingness to give out cards to the guys who sign so they could pass them out to their fans and get people interested who might not know about it otherwise.

I don't mean to trash but I'm really tired of hearing about the screenplay. That's never going to be anything other than a small blip indy movie at best.

He said on a podcast a few weeks ago that he just hasn't gotten around to releasing them.

He said on a podcast a few weeks ago that he just hasn't gotten around to releasing them. If you have them done why not already release them? Sigh.... see maybe I should listen to these podcasts.

The movie is based on the books. I think he said the second one was done but he hadn't released it but I could be wrong. He talked about it on the first podcast of this year.
