Comics and movies/TV differ, but I've read the first few volumes of the series (I think 6 issues are in one volume), but don't recall them coming back. But the way they were protrayed (pretty major part), I think they'll revist them sometime in the series, esp if it's picked up for a season 2 (by all accounts, seems like it will)

Yeah, the father and son didn't die that we know of and so maybe they will be back sometime in the season or next, which I think will happen with all the buzz around the debut episode...

To be honest Dennis: Once I got married and had kids, some hobbies had to be cut (naturally). Comic stuff was one of them (I still do the action figures though). Anyways, what I do is my little guy loves to go to the bookstore, so when we go, I'll usually pick up a copy of the trade paperbacks and read them when I am there.

The guy who wrote it addressed the 28 Days Later similarities once. He claimed he had the idea before the movie hit theaters. Either way, I enjoy both series

Great opener. If you are a fan of the comic then you already know what is gonna happen. Looking forward to the next episode.

I enjoyed the first episode. Lot of typical zombie 'conventions' but still worth watching. Just not wild about the guy who plays the lead. Still eager to see where it goes. That's last shot from above the street with the swarm was pretty fantastic.

Didn't even know of the comic until a post on GBITG a few weeks back. Which is fine because if the show follows the comic I'd rather be surprised.

Didn't even know of the comic until a post on GBITG a few weeks back. Which is fine because if the show follows the comic I'd rather be surprised. It's a bit different with it's own twists (the comic and the show). Love the makeup, visuals, etc, but one thing already has me biting my tongue is the PC TV version...lets make sure we have all nationalities represented in the show to get a "diverse" crowd. I hate that stuff. Later in the book, many additional characters come in...but don't do it for the sake of "diversity" to hook "minority" groups in. Hate that. And before anyone wants to say "racism", I said the same thing about Spawn because I hated it when they included more "whites" when someone who was part of the movie stated they didn't want people to think it was a "black movie". Bologna. Keep the characters as true as possible. Will I keep watching? Duh, it's zombies. That's my only complaint so far. I'm shocked more people didn't go nuts over the "kid zombie" being shown getting shot. Pretty graphic stuff, even for basic cable.

Killing is nothing, more people were upset with sexy pics of the Glee chicks on GQ, tells you where priorities land...
There were talks of making Peter Parker black for the new film, so it's becoming common now whether someone likes it or not when it comes to the race role and changing or adding characters of another race...
The 2nd episode was good, except the screw up storytelling of the injured blackman, looks like they rushed or forgot he was injured when he was given the key, other then that good stuff...

Good catch. I didn't notice until you brought it up. There were talks of making Peter Parker black for the new film, so it's becoming common now whether someone likes it or not when it comes to the race role and changing or adding characters of another race... Ugh, I still remember reading that and wanted to vomit, much like I would if they said, "Hey Robert Downy Jr is a cool actor, let's make him a black actor". Some things are insulting.

Yeah, covering the cultural landscape just for the sake of doing it is too much in this this day and age. I understood it when they first implemented it in the 90s but now its ridiculous.
On a side note, I read that The Walking Dead was picked up by AMC to do 13 more episodes because of the 5.4 million viewers they had for episode 2.
If the show had been put on FX in the same time slot, do you think the show would be better? They would be able to go NC-17 on FX.
