The first trailer is up: www.newsarama.com/common/media/video/player.php?aid=39992First impressions: DC is ready to fight Marvel at their own game. If the House of Ideas can make buckets of money on lesser known (to the general public) characters like Iron Man and Thor, then DC can and will counter. I am personally waiting on the Flash feature, as I am a Scarlet Speedster fan, but this looks like it should be fun. [glow=green,2,300]In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight, Let those who worship evil's might Beware my power, Green Lantern's light![/glow]

GL does look good, I know many fan boys are not happy with Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan and his cgi suit that has been reported...
The movie slated by DC I hope happens is the Suicide Squad, the comic book series is my favorite from DC Comics...

I'm not sure Iron Man is a lesser character... he's probably 2nd or 3rd as the most known character in the Marvel universe, before the movie.
Anyway, It's pretty need they have the GL Corps aspects in the movie (LOVE Kilowog, who at least has a cameo) and Hector Hammond is a good bad guy, but I the special effects look really, really cheesy.
That'll probably put in more in the class of Daredevil and Jonah Hex instead of Spidey and Iron Man.

The only super hero movie I hated was Elektra. Just horrible. Jonah Hex was bad, but I didn't "hate" it. Never saw Catwoman...even though Halle Berry is hot in that outfit
That being said, I'll definitely catch the movie. Myself and some friend(s) usually go for a 2 for 1 on a Sunday afternoon (pay for one, see two...hey, Hollywood can take it!). We'll probably work it out to see that and something else.

As someone who owns in the vicinity of 450 Iron Man comics (not counting issues of Avengers, etc.), I don't think Iron Man is secondary, but before the movie he was not a well known commodity. Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Hulk... those are the guys who traditionally have been well known by the mainstream public from Marvel.

I would put Iron Man with those guys.. he's had a couple cartoons, too.. but then I have even more than 450 Iron Man comics, so I'm biased.

He had his cartoon in the 90s, yes, but it was syndicated and not well-watched. The 60s cartoon, well, those were all pretty fun. Compared to the Hulk, though, Shellhead was an also-ran until the movie came out. Now he is front and center on every piece of licensed merch. In any event, if there ever was a comic book movie which can get away with fantastical, unrealistic looking CGI, Green Lantern is it.

Yeah, I suppose you're right.
As to GL and CGI... I think people these days have very high expectations, especially from comic book movies. I think cheesy CGI will turn alot of people off.
I actually would have REALLY liked it to have been Kyle, but that was clearly not gonna happen. When Daryl Banks was on art, that was one of the best comics out there, IMO.

I hope GL is good, like I do all comic book movies. I'll rent Jonah Hex someday.

Being a long time comic book fan, the super-hero movies really have been mainly misses for me, the first Iron Man rocked...
GL, Thor and if it happens the Suicide Squad are films that do catch my eye...
