The worst part about the fall of the Deuce was that my Memphis fed using Double A's bootlegs was destroyed in the process and I lost months of shows in the process. I have not even attempted a Memphis show since then due to the annoyance over that event. I've had the itch and Dundee and Gilbert getting released made me decide to go back to Memphis.
If someone still has Double A's Memphis jobber set I would appreciate a look at them. I somehow lost those. I'm going to be dressing Ursa Major up as the various Memphis jobbers for television.
For right now, it's just going to be Mid-South Coliseum shows. I'll slowly introduce guys into the fed too.

Wow, the new signees in the final.. very cool.
I think if you get the big desktop pile off the yahoo group (LegendaryPromoters) that Werner did about 2 years ago, they'll probably be in it.
You'd have to take the stats and pop them into a spreadsheet or something, but I'm pretty sure they're there.

So I'm changing this around and having it start in December of 1979. That way I can play as much as much I want and not worry about falling behind.

Memphis Wrestling #1: 12/15/1979
Host is Lance Russell
Bill Dundee hits Eddie Gilbert with the Bombs Away and covers. The referee counts to two and Doug Gilbert pulls him out of the ring. Bill Dundee grabs Gilbert and pounds on him in the corner. Eddie recovers and catches Dundee right in the face with the Fireball. Dundee clutches at his face. Eddie covers while Doug wakes the referee up on the outside of the ring. The referee slowly counts to three. Eddie Gilbert is your NEW Southern Heavyweight Champion.
Russell: Welcome to the debut episode of Memphis Wrestling. We've got a big show for you tonight. Southern Heavyweight Champion Eddie Gilbert and his brother Doug will be in tag team action tonight. Also in action will be the Rock N Roll Express, "Wildfire" Tommy Rich, Tojo Yamamoto and "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell. It's an absolutely packed show so let's head to the ring for our first match.
Buddy Landell d. Freezer Thompson with the FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK
"Nature Boy" Buddy Landell heads to the announce table for an interview.
Russell: It says here in my notes that you're now demanding to be referred to as the Nature Boy. Won't that ummm... cause some issues with a certain other Nature Boy that wrestles in the Carolinas?
Landell: That pretender doesn't have the guts to come to Memphis and take me on. I am the one, the only, the real Nature Boy! WOO! I'm here in Memphis for one thing and one thing alone... the Southern Heavyweight Championship. And the Nature Boy is going to do whatever it takes to win that belt.
Tojo Yamamoto d. Pink Panther with the STOMACH CLAW
Lance Russell is standing before a giant poster board with tournament brackets drawn on it in black ink.
Russell: This Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum there's going to be an 8 team tournament to crown the 1st ever Southern Tag Team Champions. Here's a look at the match ups:
Rock N Roll Express vs. PG-13 Bobby Eaton and Sweet Brown Sugar vs. the Moondogs Midnight Express vs. Jerry Jarrett and Tojo Yamamoto Fabulous Ones vs. Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden
Russell: It's going to be a great night of tag team action. Tickets start at $5. So come on down to the Coliseum and watch wrestling only as Memphis can do it!
Tommy Rich d. Ken Raper with a fistdrop
"Wildfire" Tommy Rich joins Lance Russell at the announce table for an interview.
Russell: Quite an impressive victory for Tommy Rich on our debut episode of Memphis Wrestling. Tell me Mr. Rich, what are your immediate plans for your career in the Memphis area?
Rich: I'm going right to the top in Memphis. I want to take this moment to issue a challenge to Eddie Gilbert for the Southern Heavyweight Championship. I may not have been in that tournament Monday night but I am still a top contender in any American promotion. I want Eddie Gilbert at the earliest possible chance for the title. And I'm not taking no for an answer.
Rock N Roll Express d. Rough & Ready with the DOUBLE DROPKICK
Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson stop in with Lance Russell at the announce table for an interview.
Russell: I'm here with a team that has all the ladies in Memphis going crazy. Morton and Gibson... the Rock N Roll Express. You have a big first round match coming up with PG-13 on Monday. How can you prepare for their unorthodox brawling style.
Gibson: PG-13 are a couple of lowlife punks if you ask me. The best way to counter their antics is to keep it in the ring and on the mat. We won't let them get to all of their weapons.
Russell: How do you like your chances in the tournament?
Morton: I truly believe that 2 on 2, we can't be beat inside that ring. I think by the end of the night on Monday, you'll see us leaving the Mid-South Coliseum as the new Southern Tag Team Champions.
Main Event: Eddie and Doug Gilbert d. Rooster Cogburn and Robert Reed with the HOTSHOT
Eddie and Doug Gilbert continue to beat on Cogburn and Reed after the bell. Eddie Gilbert catches Cogburn right in the face with the Fireball and then pounds him right in the face with a series of fists. Tommy Rich finally comes out. He catches Eddie with the Vertical Body Press and hammers him with a series of big right hands. Doug pulls Rich off and it's a 2 on 1 beatdown of Tommy Rich. They put the boots to Rich until Eddie lifts him off the mat and hits a piledriver to the horror of the crowd. They continue to put the boots to Rich until Tommy Gilbert walks down to the ring. He pulls them off of Rich and asks what's gotten into them. Eddie and Doug listen to their father for awhile. Tommy hugs both of them. As Tommy turns to leave, Eddie pulls him back and hits him right in the face with the Fireball!
Tommy rolls around in agony as Eddie starts to put the boots to his father. Doug looks stunned at these events initially but joins in the beatdown. The show ends with Eddie and Doug Gilbert standing over the fallen Tommy Rich and Tommy Gilbert.

Memphis Wrestling #2: 12/22/1979
Morton makes the hot tag to Gibson. Gibson comes in and puts the fists to Condrey. 10 punches in the corner and then Gibson dives and catches Austin with a cross body block. Gibson puts the fists to Austin and then dropkicks him out of the ring. The referee goes over to check on Austin. Condrey levels Gibson with a chain around his fist and then throws the chain to Jim Cornette. Austin slowly climbs to the top rope and hits the Flying Head Butt and covers to make the pin. The Midnight Express are the NEW Southern Tag Team Champions.
Host is Lance Russell
Russell: Welcome to another action packed hour of Memphis Wrestling. We've got a big show for you tonight. The Dream Machine will be teaming with "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant in our main event tonight. They'll be up to no good as always I imagine. Also in action tonight will be "Wildfire" Tommy Rich, Jerry "The King" Lawler, the Moondogs and Pat Rose. We'll also be hearing from the new Southern Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express and Southern Heavyweight Champion Eddie Gilbert. But first things first, our Commissioner Eddie Marlin is here and he has a few words for us.
Marlin: Thank you Lance. I'm out here because of the heinous attack done by Eddie and Doug Gilbert last week. I just want all of the Memphis fans to know that I don't condone this type of behavior from wrestlers on the roster. That's why I'm fining Eddie and Doug $1000 each for their actions. And if they want to keep it up, those fines will just get bigger.
Russell: I'm sure that will make many Memphis fans more than happy. Let's head to the ring for our first match...
Pat Rose d. Keith Robertson with the BULLDOG
Jim Cornette and Southern Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express are out for an interview with Lance Russell.
Russell: I must say, you guys shocked most of the state of Tennessee when you took home the gold on Monday night. How does it feel to be at the top of the tag team mountain in the Memphis region?
Cornette: Well... I tried to take the boys out for a nice celebration that Monday and wouldn't you believe it? There's not a single woman in this God forsaken city that still has all of her teeth left. So we ended up driving to Louisville because at least the dumb hicks there know what a dentist is. And that's not even the worst part. We came back home and now we've had to hide out at a secret hotel under assumed names. All of the women in Memphis heard that some real men had finally come to town and they've been trying to beat down our door ever since.
Russell: People have started clamoring for a rematch between your team and the Fabulous Ones. What is your feeling towards that?
Cornette: I don't care. We'll defend against the Rock N Roll Express, the Fabulous Ones, whoever... The Midnight Express is the greatest team in the Memphis area and we'll take on all challengers.
the Moondogs d. Rough & Ready with a backbreaker and elbow drop
Southern Heavyweight Champion Eddie Gilbert joins Lance Russell for an interview.
Russell: Eddie Marlin had some strong words for you earlier tonight. What is your reaction?
Gilbert: Eddie Marlin can fine me as much as he wants to because it's not going to change how I do anything here. Tommy Rich had to be taught a lesson in respect. When you disrespect the champion, you end up laying out cold in the middle of the ring like Rich did.
Russell: How could you do that to your own father though?
Gilbert: My father has been a drag on my career for far too long. My brother and I decided we needed to break away from the old man. But let's forget about the old man here. I really came out here for a big announcement. The Memphis fans are in for a real treat next week on this very show. I will be wrestling and I will also be defending the Southern Heavyweight Championship. So tune in and see the greatest wrestling superstar today in action.
Jerry Lawler d. Ira Resse with a fistdrop from 2nd rope
Jerry Lawler joins Lance Russell for an interview.
Russell: A lot has been happening in the last few weeks. Where do you see yourself fitting into the current title scene?
Lawler: I think I'm just going to hang back for awhile and let some of these guys beat each other up. I can wait for a month or two and then challenge for the belt.
Tommy Rich d. Jim Jamison with the VERTICAL BODY PRESS
Eddie and Doug Gilbert come down to the ring. They jump on the apron and Rich attacks Doug and knocks him off the apron. Eddie climbs into the ring and gets met with a series of fists right to the face. Rich clotheslines him out of the ring. Eddie and Doug try for a second attack but Rich bails out of the ring and escapes to the back.
Main Event: Dream Machine and Jimmy Valiant d. Ken Raper and Freezer Thompson with the VALIANT SLEEPER
Jimmy Hart, Dream Machine and Jimmy Valiant come to the announce table. Dream Machine shoos Russell away from the table.
Hart: My First Family is going to take over this city. And public enemy No. 1 is none other than the so called King of the Memphis area. That's right Jerry Lawler, you're on my hit list and all of my wrestlers are coming for you.
Valiant: Jerry Lawler, you and I have had quite the history together. It's been a long and bloody history for both of us. It's time to end that history once and for all. So King, if you will. How about you and I get it on one last time. Let's do it inside of a steel cage brother.
