The Downey Games Stuff looks really really interesting. How long roughly does it take to do say an 8-10 match card? Is it hard to learn? Are there a lot of pieces? You could probably go through an 8 - 10 match card in 10 - 15 mins. Its really easy to learn the basic rules, I havent read the advanced yet as I just purchased them last night. Not that many pieces, mostly just cards and charts. You can purchase the game and booklets online and download them and print them yourself. Wildfire may be able to give more information as he has purchased an actual set. Im using bootlegs at the moment.

I figured I'd throw Wrestling's Finest out there as one I've played a lot. I ultimately stopped due to the fact that the tag teams are rated together so there's no way to ultimately do makeshift tag teams or to even just have a tag team main event with various guys.
Really, that's been my big problem with non-LOW games. I seem to always run into this oddball limitation and after awhile I just get really annoyed with it. LOW is the most flexible game I've seen and played.
I'm definitely going to check out this Downey Games though. The Best of Texas set is calling to me.
The TV Pro Wrestling one looks interesting too. I would like to do the Best of the AWA and Indianapolis sets for that.

I've never actually seen rules for Wrestling's finest... I've only see the bootlegs on Tabletop Sports.
Is it play by play like LoW?

Yeah, it's similar to that. I'd rate it closer to Superstars of Wrestling than LOW. I had the computer program. The big plus is it's a one time purchase and you get all the updates.
The downside is it's like $50. It also has my big pet peeve in that tag team are rated as teams. So you can't do six man tags or use makeshift teams. He also doesn't update the rosters a lot. So if there's a wrestler you want, you could wait years to get them.
It also has some weird things. I ran a fed for months and guys like Ric Flair never seemed to be super successful. It also had the issue I had with Superstars of Wrestling where the tag matches would just go on and on forever.
Now, I will give it one thing. It does have a better feel to it than LOW. When I played a guy like Stan Hansen would feel like he was just mauling a guy in the ring.
The guy that makes it is also really helpful and nice.

Retro Wrestling Games seems cool too except the original edition is no longer circulated due to copyright issues.

I got Ultra Quick Wrestling game parts and then the WCCW and 1973 WWWF set. I ran my first WWWF show and it was an interesting concept. The 1973 set has different charts to better reflect the time. But here are the results I got.
The Executioner d. Henry DePaula when DePaula was too bloody to continue
Stan Stasiak cut a pre-match promo but was interrupted by Gorilla Monsoon. I added that this was for the upcoming WWWF Title tournament.
Stan Stasiak d. Battman with the Heart Punch Moondog Mayne d. Sonny King with a roll up with his feet on the ropes Dominic DeNucci and Tony Parisi d. the Valiants with the Abdominal Stretch Edouard Carpentier d. Buddy Wolf with a roll up
Buddy Wolf pummels Carpentier after the match until Bruno Sammartino runs in to make the save.
Main Event: Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales d. Mr. Fuji and Toru Tanaka when Tanaka was too bloody to continue
Overall, it's an interesting game. I looked up some 1973 WWWF results and this show looks like it would fit right in with whatever they were doing at the time. And that show took me I'd say 15-20 minutes to do as I was reading it off the PDF and it was my firs time playing. The price is good as I got two sets and the rules for roughly $25. You can't beat that.
Vs. LOW. It would never replace LOW. It would be more of a side project due to how easy and quick the game is.

I bought just the Ultra Quick rules and charts last night just to check it out to see if it was buying. The idea is interesting but the charts that come with the game are pretty lame and would get old quick if that's all there was to use. I saw that the sets come with different charts. I'll probably go ahead and buy either the WCCW, 2010 or 73 set to give the game a fair chance

I have the 1973 set and the WCCW set. It feels like he had a good grasp on the 1973 set and saw some footage to watch. I really like that set as it feels accurate. The WCCW set comes across much worse. David and Kevin Von Erich are too weak if you ask me and some of the other guys were really off. That set feels like he found a results site and went from that. I was really disappointed in that set.
Did you read the advanced rules, I think the most interesting part of the game is the heat system.

I wish I would have checked here before I bought the WCCW set this morning. I can adjust the stats later on if I really get into the game. I missed the advance rules last night and you're right it is the most interesting part of the game. I'm going to run some matches probably this weekend and post the results to get feedback

I just ordered the UQPW 1985 set and game parts. I ordered the physical sets (die-cut and all) because I love collecting wrestling games. Means I'll have to wait a bit to play, but thanks to you guys for the recommendation!

How is the finisher system in this game? I think it was Superstar Wrestling that had finishers on the card but they really didn't help end the match, which I never understood. And there were so many dice rolls in that game, it was really hard to get into the flow of the match like you can with the FG system.

I'll be ordering the UQPW main set (stars from 1991) and most likely the WCCW set friday. Tomorrow since I have to be at work for 4 hours in the morning (to do nothing!) I will roll out a UQPW card out with the free comic book set thats on the table-top sports site. I already have the card line-up. Will give me something to do along with my NLW card.

And there were so many dice rolls in that game, it was really hard to get into the flow of the match like you can with the FG system. There's really no move by move. If you get a winner, you roll to see how the match ended. So a choice would be win by hitting finisher or something like that. The way the game works the wrestlers are going to hit their finisher to win more often than not.

More info on the Downey Games Wrestling games (taken from Tabletop-Sports forum)
Ultra Quick matches can be resolved in as few as four dice roles. The game features pre-match, post-match and wild events that can occur during gameplay. It good for incorporating a storyline into your federations. You receive a decent amount of wrestlers with each set and creating your own wrestlers is fairly easy. A good choice if you want to run multiple federations with storylines.
Vintage Pro Wrestling works with a similar game engine to Ultra quick I haven't played it in a while but I think the main difference was more variations on the finishes of matches based on whether it was a tv card or ppv.
Tv Pro Wrestling is a very well designed hold by hold game. You can complete most matches within 10 minutes. I believe the only speciality match is a cage match. Wrestling moves are determined from the style of the wrestler based on charts. Optional rules include matches influenced by referee's preferences to heels or faces. The game comes with the pre, post and wild event charts to add spice to your league. The current offering of nights of the week sets are based on wrestlers around 2006.
