I was huge into TNA when it debuted on Spike back in 10/2005 where I collected all their dvd's and even taped ( transfered when I had a vcr/dvd recorder to dvd ) 50 episodes of iMPACT! and I just watched the 20 man X Gauntlet from Victory Road 2004 and seeing the talent they had for the X-Division puts the current division to shame. TNA had Hector Garza, Matt Sydel and several others that really made the match exciting to watch. I even loved the old crowd because the energy was electric, which gave the match a great vibe...
Today's TNA X-Division really is far from the exciting days, I know that these guys can't keep up the pace when they've aged but getting new blood and a new focus today would be cool...
When I finish watching Victory Road 2004 I'll have more thoughts as I will when I watch other past TNA events...

I liked TNA most pre-Spike TV. They were good even through 2007. 2008 had its moments, last year largely sucked, same for this year.
I remember that X Gauntlet you're talking about. That was a fun match, but my favorite match on that show (at least I THINK it was VR04) was AJ/Petey for the X Title.

@switch yes that is the one with AJ vs. Petey and it was a solid match with the overall ppv being real good...
TNA 10/2005 till early 2007 was when I was glued to TNA, but it went away from the wrestlers and direction that I liked, so I became more of a off fan than on...

As someone who's been with TNA day one. The X Division has always ebbed and flowed quality wise. They came to Spike during an era Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles were in their respective primes as workers and tearing the ring down on a weekly basis.
But if you go back to as early as 2003 there was a large void as AJ Styles had moved on and they were trying to work a division with Shark Boy, Jason Cross, Kid Kash and Amazing Red.

I can't really comment on the current or even recent TNA product for not watching anything in some time. I liked the weekly ppvs and tv before the monthly ppv era.

Yeah, the weekly PPVs had their charm.

I watched the other day Final Resolution 2008 and I like this ppv... the Awesome Kong vs. Gail Kim match was great! Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage was really good, overall this was a good ppv...
I'm going to rewatch the 1/4 Global iMPACT! Japan DVD from 2008 which is a great event...

I'm going to rewatch the 1/4 Global iMPACT! Japan DVD from 2008 which is a great event... I personally wouldn't call it great. Is that Global iMPACT DVD just the TNA matches? I'm almost sure it is but I'm just making sure.

I liked that match a lot.

We ran into the TNA camera crew at the hotel and they filmed our group since you don't often see a gang of Americans in Tokyo for wrestling, but the bastards didn't put any of it on the dvd.
