I just read on Gerweck.net ( take it as you want coming from a dirt sheet ) that the WWE will be crossing brands more for the next several months in an attempt to gain back viewers...
After seeing Miz vs. Orton to kick off SD lastnight and reading the rest of the show, they need more then crossing brands to interest me. I read on a non-proboards message board all they talked about calling wrestlers like Kaval by Low-Ki and not Kaval and the same in calling Daniel Bryan - Bryan Danielson, plus the hot topic was Kaval jobbing to Drew was talked about coming from lastnight Smackdown, funny stuff...
I try and give the WWE a shot, but it's more bad then good and what I do watch is plenty to not watch the rest even with glimmers of hope in CM Punk attacking Cena...

I wouldn't be that surpised if Smackdown doesn't last... it's already been 'banished' to Sci-Fi... I haven't seen the ratings, but I can't imagine they are all that great. I'd like to see them either get rid of the brand split or make the legitmately separate, and do something to set them apart... but I've wanted that for a while now

Here are the average ratings for 2010...
Raw 3.29 Smackdown 1.81 iMPACT! 1.06 NXT 0.96 Superstars 0.69
I was never a fan of Smackdown as a show or split brand, it never seemed like a good WWE show like Raw once was and the split brand concept might be losing it's luster. In that report, they wonder what will the mid-carders do with the main-eventers crossing over to Raw, Smackdown and Superstars. I think the WWE has too many wrestlers that they just waste and the changes we want will kill most of those guys off, but to me the WWE already does that...

IMO, they dropped the ball on the RAW/SD "brand split" when they first did it.
There was NEVER that feeling like it was two seperate entities. They never established a rivalry with each other.
A RAW rewind on SD? Are you serious? I never saw NFL highlights on a USFL game. Hell, in a wrestling context, I never saw WWF highlights on AWA or NWAWCW.
In their (WWE) desperate attempt to get some seperation, SD wins the last two Bragging Rights matches but too little too late as far as Im concerned.
Never any smack talk between the two brands. If there was, it was minimal.
Just terribly done all the way around.

There was a while in the middle of the height of the "brand extension" when SD! and Raw really felt seperate. When they would only come together for the "Big 4" PPVs, and Survivor Series would have a big 5-on-5 match with babyfaces and heels teaming up. But once they started coming together for every PPV again, the brand extension was a formality more than anything else.
When SD! was on OTA TV, it was a better show. Better than Raw, and better than it is now. Now that it is on cable, SD! is booked in the same "entertainment" manner as Raw. The OTA format necesitated a different creative approach. Now its just more of the same.
I can't argue with WWE product being less than appealing lately. Its at the point where the bright spots shine that much brighter because there are not that many of them in any given show.
Aso, regarding the "banishment" to SyFy, NBC/Universal had first right of refusal for SD! based on their relationship with WWE. So it ending up on SyFy was more out of a desire by NBC/U to have a high rated show on their network. Despite SD! drawing lower ratings on SyFy than it did on UPN/CW or MyTV, it still is the top rated program on SyFy. So NBC/U is more than happy with that -- even at the height of their "SciFi Friday" they didn't have a show (even Battlestar Galactica) which could draw a 1.8. Whe ECW first came on SciFi, a lot of my nerd friends (read: all of my friends) complained about wrestling on SciFi, but I would always tell them that ECW was subsidizing all of their low rated, super expensive weekly scifi shows.

I actually think Farscape hit over 2 a few times back before Sci Fi decided stupid shit like Ghost Hunters was better... that might be the sum of the 1st run and the late night replay though (I know some cable shows do that)

Another report is Vince wanted SD on SyFy to get his own WWE Network by helping NBC/U in giving good ratings for SyFy...
I really didn't like seeing SD move to SyFy, Fridays ruled with BSG and other shows that night...
Farscape was decent, but I stopped watching midway through season two and I like the Ghost Hunters, but thats not the topic...

Misleading topic title. The brand split is good for the WWE but like stated in the thread, they've rarely ever made RAW and SmackDown feel like two separate entities and the only time there's a rivalry between the two is on the Road to WrestleMania or around Bragging Rights and SurSer.
I think that WWE's in the shitter right now. For the first time since like 2000 I don't even want to see (nor do I care who wins) the Royal Rumble, and am seriously considering not ordering WrestleMania next year. I'm more than fine watching TNA, New Japan, NOAH, EVOLVE, and even digging into my tape collection to see stuff from WWF/WCW from when I was growing up than watching the current WWE product.
Then again, this could all go out the window and I could end up ordering all three of the RTWM PPVs next year. I don't know.

@switch misleading but in many ways the WWE is failing...
The last WWE ppv I got was Night of Champions when Benoit killed himself and family, thats not the reason I stopped. I just find ppv's hyped tv shows now and not worth the cash or time to watch, plus I'll watch TNA on TV and my dvd collection...
