Let's keep that train of discussion rolling. 2091 is a big year if you ask me. It was the real transition year where Star Warrior and Thantos start to become less important and the GWF starts to really grown to the big fed we all know it as today. This set pound for pound might introduce the greatest assortment of wrestlers ever and it might also feature the worst game booklet format of all time.
Lots to choose from here though as far as characters go:
Matador of M83 Lance At-Las Count Necros Justice Mayhem Mr. Galaxy Tendron Vlad Hammer the Guardsman
Plus updates for Serpent Unman and Whiplash.
Just quality all around with this set. I will say that the Matador of M83 is probably my favorite character from this set. He just has this Mr. Perfect vibe to him that I love. With my restart I'm dying to get back to 2091 so I can use him again.
I would say Lance At-Las and Justice would be in the 2 and 3 spot. Count Necros is probably my least favorite in this set. I just never really liked his card or concept. It didn't help that he was strictly mid-card for me either.

I have to say 2090 and 2091 were my favorite game years with 2090 really being my favorite of all-time, but 2091 adds to it for sure...

I agree, 2091 was on e of the better sets..Matado, Justice, and Lance were very important characters for years to come.
If only he didn't do the goofy Spike as a face for a year thing...

I didn't mind Spike as a face, just didn't like he turned back a year later. I understood Spike's reasoning in the booklet, but didn't like it a year later

I thought it was okay as far as a one year thing. He didn't want to work with Thantos so he walked. The Gladiators broke it off in a year so he came back.
I think it helps for his later years as a character. When he returns and becomes the Minister of War, that year is a key part to his character.

Yeah, I guess that's true.. at the time (when 2091 was new) it was OK, but only being a year...

I felt his brief face turn was better than say Blazing Skull's face turn or Wolf's heel turn. It was better than U.S. Patriot's heel turn too.

I would have preferred it to last a bit, in fact, I really don't like a quick turns and re-turn in general, so I suppose Spike's wasn't worse than any other.

I always really liked Mr. Galaxy. He clicked for me as an old school kinda heel.

2091 was my favorite edition. The huge upgrade to Spike, Mayhem enters, Justice who would go onto to develop into my favorite character of all time, Matador, who put a serious play for top wrestler, and the War GAmes... just awesome. The Alliance of Krakan, Thantos and the Glads was incredible; best team ever, with maybe the Citadel of the Elite coming close. Just a great great edition.
