I love this list Empire Strikes Back, Airplane, Exorcist, Pink Panther, and All The Presidents Men are great choices.
The National Film Registry has just infused their catalogue with some new-old blood. Each year a group of films are deemed worthy enough to be chosen by the Library of Congress to join the collection of culturally significant films marked for preservation. George Lucas fared extremely well as two of his movies have joined the archive (The Empire Strikes Back and Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB) and the amazing 1980 comedy Airplane! has finally received the respect that it deserves. Check out the full list of inductees below…
Airplane! (1980) All the President’s Men (1976) The Bargain (1914) Cry of Jazz (1959) Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB (1967) The Empire Strikes Back (1980) The Exorcist (1973) The Front Page (1931) Grey Gardens (1976) I Am Joaquin (1969) It’s a Gift (1934) Let There Be Light (1946) Lonesome (1928) Make Way for Tomorrow (1937) Malcolm X (1992) McCabe and Mrs. Miller (1971) Newark Athlete (1891) Our Lady of the Sphere (1969) The Pink Panther (1964) Preservation of the Sign Language (1913) Saturday Night Fever (1977) Study of a River (1996) Tarantella (1940) A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945) A Trip Down Market Street (1906)

McCabe and Mrs. Miller is a gem, but you have to stick with it.
Also, Saturday Night Fever is one of the most underrated films of the 1970s. Great to see it on the list.

Saturday Night Fever has always been mind for jokes, as it is so firmly a movie that is obviusly happening in the 70's. I grew up loving this movie, because it was able to show us a slice of time that I was never able to experence. (I was born in 1978) It also shows New York the way it used to be. Not Toronto standing in for NY, but actually NY. Some people don't give a shit about things like that, but those of us who know what the city looks like know when we are being bullshitted! Plus Travolta's hair was perfect!
