Mattel showed their best stuff yet at this year's SDCC----and one really awful looking Jerry Lawler figure. Seriously, I've not been a huge fan of their stuff so far, but there are some stellar figures in the works including what looks to be some sort of early resin prototypes of Rumblers-type figures of the Road Warriors, along with a weird "Brahma Bull Rock" and Macho Man Randy Savage. I can't wait to see what those are all about.
Really, Wade Barrett with the coat, Brodus Clay in full attire, another cool Sin Cara, Mankind, classic Christian, finally an Elizabeth figure---there's some good stuff in the works.

Those aren't Rumblers, they're far too small. I think they're figures in the style of the old M.U.S.C.L.E. figures.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out what in the world they could be and I thought maybe resin protos of a new Rumbler type line. Seeing as how they're that tan-pink color, MUSCLE/Kinnikuman style legends figures makes perfect sense.....and makes them 1000 times cooler than I thought they were (which was pretty cool to begin with).

Could they be squinkies? Those would be even smaller than M.U.S.C.L.E guys, but material.
Could be they decided to make their own line instead of piggy backing off squinkies (which seem to be about played out).. Star Wars has their own guys that are very similar now.

They're too big to be Squnkies.

Not WWE figures but screw it. I found the new K-Mart exclusive UFC set today and picked up the GSP and Urijah Faber figures. Wish I had the cash to pick up Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, hopefully they'll be there when I go back. The Clay Guida figure is great too but I'm not a big fan of his so I wouldn't buy it anyway.

Maybe just a shade darker skin tone and that's a perfect representation of Hogan in late 86.
Mattel is doing some real impressive things with the WWE line this year with this, Sting, Vader, and that new Warrior USA figure.

still the best imo [/quote] Hard to argue that. Picture kids today trying to have fun playing with little rubber statues. They lack the imagination. Of course somewhere there's an ancient dude saying "rubber statues? In my day we had a stick---and a rock if we were lucky!" So time marches on, as they say. They nailed it with the likeness on that second LJN version, though. I never did understand that white and red one. I don't think he ever wore red trunks in the WWF; he wore white trunks when he wore the white shirt. Maybe they were just commemorating his AWA title match win over Nick Bockwinkel. Even then they got the knee pad color wrong. But as usual, I digress. I do like the way the new figures look, and they do amazing things with the sculpts and details, but there's a cool simplicity and element of design on those old ones that's hard to match. I don't think that's just childhood nostalgia talking either.

I don't know, my kids love the Slam City figures, which are pretty close to the old LJN figures.

I don't know, my kids love the Slam City figures, which are pretty close to the old LJN figures. They're cool, but those are more like the old "Bendies". Also, my kid wanted one of Kane and those things are like six dollars each! Toys are expensive now (said like a guy who doesn't have a Mattel Ultimate Warrior and a Rick Rude figure on the shelf in the gym in his garage!).
