show 11 Lord Jonathan Boyd defeated George South via KIWI CLAW. South put up a fight and got in some good offense, but it wasn't nearly enough to get the win. Boyd steamrolled him at the end and finished it with one of his signature moves. After the match Boyd spoke at ringside. He said Hillbilly Jim and Cousin Luke were the epitome of everything he, and the rest of the world, hates about the USA. Boyd insisted that he beat their silly masked friend fair and square so he took his red, white, and blue mask, put his tail between his legs, and ran away but they won't accept that and now it's their turn to have the same done to them. In closing Boyd made it a point to give the hillbillies a math lesson and asked what three Sheepherders versus two bumpkins equals: "a world of pain for the Kentucky inbreds!" The Russians (Koloff, Zuchov, and Volkoff) w/Breznikov defeated Magnum TA and Mark and Jay Briscoe. Ivan pinned Jay after cutting off the ring and using the steel chain while the referee was busy trying to keep Magnum on the outside. The Russians succeeded in keeping TA from legally tagging into the match for the duration of the bout, frustrating him and giving them a huge advantage that paid off in the end.Jerry Lynn won by disqualification over Sabu when Sabu used the Arabian Facebuster despite the referee's warning. This was a great match marred by the disqualification at the end. Lynn looked like he was going to win outright, but Sabu proved his toughness and kicked out after a Cradle Piledriver. The bout spilled to the floor where Sabu showed his dominance, then took it back into the ring with the steel chair in tow and ended up getting disqualified.Bill Apter hosted Frank Gotch and Buddy Rogers in a showdown style interview. Gotch said they both have one goal in mind and that's the pinnacle of pro wrestling, the CTW championship currently being worn by Lou Thesz. Gotch noted that he's had it twice before and that makes not being the champ that much harder to live with. Rogers told him the fact that he's a two-time former champ means he's lost it twice and that means he needs to step to the back of the line and let Rogers take his rightful place at the top. Gotch responded by saying he backs down for no one, but if Rogers can beat him in the ring one-on-one next week then he will forfeit his contractually guaranteed championship rematch to Rogers. Buddy laughed and said Gotch just sealed his fate and Rogers will do anything necessary to take what it his. Frank told him he knew that was true and that's why he's enlisted Chris Candido to watch his back and make sure Albright and Pearce don't stick their nose into the proceedings. Rogers was angered by the announcement, but finally calmed down long enough to tell Gotch he'd see him here next week to prove Rogers is and always will be the greatest of all time. The Crusher and Pepper Gomez beat Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens when Crusher put away Stevens. A hot tag team match ended when Crusher locked in a bear hug on Stevens in mid-ring as Pepper brawled with Bockwinkel.Exotic Adrian Street (w/Miss Linda) defeated a bloodied Ilio DiPaolo in a wild match. DiPaolo rushed the ring looking for revenge on Street after already dispatching his bodyguard two weeks ago. Street was ready though, as Ilio was overzealous and made a crucial mistake. Street attacked like a wild dog and would not let up until Ilio was bleeding profusely. Street ended up picking up the win with a running splash. The Midnight Express (w/Cornette) won by disqualification over The Fabulous Kangaroos (w/Wild Red Berry) to defend the CTW tag team championship. This was a stellar match. The Kangaroos nearly won it with a Boomerang on Stan, but Bobby made the save. Later a pin after the Rocket Launcher on Heffernan was broken up by Costello. The Express turned right around and used the Veg-O-Matic but Costello again made the save. Finally Red Berry got involved after a Lane superkick, grabbing Stan's leg from the floor and dragging him off of the pin attempt to get his team disqualified. Stan decked Berry, Cornette grabbed the belts, and the Kangaroos and Red unsuccessfully argued with the referee over the call as the show came to a close.Next week:Main Event, winner receives the next title match against Lou TheszFrank Gotch (w/Candido in his corner) vs. Buddy Rogers Terry Gordy vs. Dick Hutton Hillbilly Jim vs. Lord Jonathan Boyd Mark and Jay Briscoe vs. The Bolsheviks Third times the charm, the "rubber match" in the seriesThe High Flyers vs. The Headshrinkers plus: Les Thatcher and Brent Albright will see action, and Bill Apter will interview Exotic Adrian Street. Also, the CTW board of directors have decided that Bruiser Brody and Terry Gordy should not be allowed in the same building unless they are scheduled to compete against each other, so Bruiser Brody will be at an off-site location to speak about his problems with Gordy and Harley Race.

show 12 Brent Albright defeated Frank Williams with the CROWBAR. A highlight reel type match, as Albright showed off his best offense en route to an easy win.The Headshrinkers won by disqualification over The High Flyers. This was another good match between the two teams trying to establish themselves in CTW. In the end Brunzell got tired of watching the Samoans double team his partner and broke up a pin attempt. The ref was trying to remove him from the ring as Samu and Alofa went back on the attack behind the ref's back. Brunzell shoved the ref out of the way and mad the save, but got his team disqualified in the process. After the match The High Flyers commented from ringside. As Apter held the mic Gagne went off on the shoddy officiating and the dirty tactics of the Samoans. He said they'd have taken the series loss like men if they lost fair and square but now they don't consider this settled by a longshot. Brunzell added that there's another big event coming up in a few weeks and he can think of no better place than to get it done and determine a clear-cut winner. Apter finished up by saying he thinks that sounds like a challenge and we shall await a response by The Headshrinkers. Les Thatcher defeated Larry Sharpe with the STUMP PULLER. [/b] Sharpe put up a little offense, but the journeyman Thatcher picked up the win after about four minutes of action.Hillbilly Jim won by disqualification over Lord Jonathan Boyd when the Sheepherders attacked. Nice back and forth action until Jim rocked Lord Jonathan with a clothesline and went for the pin. That's when the Sheepherders jumped in and laid a beating on the Hillbilly. The ref was helpless to stop them as Boyd recovered and barked orders. A Battering Ram and several stomps for good measure finally satisfied The New Zealand team and they left quite satisfied with themselves.Bruiser Brody was shown standing out in a field somewhere. He said he was staying as far away from the arena tonight so he didn't end up losing his job before he gets another shot at revenge against Race and Gordy. He said that he wasn't as stupid as Gordy looks though, and he knows the odds against him if he goes head-on against them alone. That's why he went out and recruited an old friend of his to come help him out. Brody said they didn't know him yet, but they would soon enough. Terry Gordy beat Dick Hutton with a PILEDRIVER. After the decision a masked man in duster coat and cowboy hat stormed the ring and attacked Gordy. Many CTW fans may not be familiar with him, but longtime Brody followers immediately recognized the man as Red River Jack. The brawl ended when Jack ducked a clothesline and hit Gordy in the face with a big boot that sent the big man over the top rope and out of the ring.Bill Apter was joined by Exotic Adrian Street and Miss Linda. Apter asked where the bodyguard Ox Baker was and Street said Ox couldn't get the job done and one should never leave an animal to do a man's job, which is what Adrian did last week against Ilio DiPaolo. Apter recapped the match in question and noted that Ilio made the mistake of coming in too fired up for the bout which led to the mistake that cost him the match. Apter said it was a clear case of mind games paying off. Street told Apter that it wasn't hard to play mind games on such a small playing field as Ilio's brain. He continued by putting every champion in CTW on notice that he is not satisfied with wins over men like Dan Severn and Ilio DiPaolo and he will not rest until he has taken the ultimate fashion accessory; a gold belt for his perfect waist. Mark and Jay Briscoe beat The Bolsheviks (w/Breznikov). [/b] The hard-hitting Russian team dished out a beating, but the Americans were resilient and ended up weathering the storm and getting the win with the Doomsday Device on Boris.Buddy Rogers (w/Pearce) defeated Frank Gotch (w/Candido) to earn the next shot at Lou Thesz' CTW championship. Early in the bout Pearce tried to get involved but was chased away by Candido. A good bout full of counters and reversals ensued until Rogers managed to reach the ropes while caught in the Gotch Toehold. Rogers called the ref over to check an alleged eye injury. While the referee was distracted CANDIDO jumped in the ring and hit Gotch in the back of the head with a pair of brass knuckles. Rogers miraculously recovered from his "eye injury" and got on top of Gotch for the pin. After the match Rogers and Candido celebrated the well-orchestrated double cross as Gotch tried to recover and figure out exactly what had just taken place.

show 13 Bill Apter welcomed Buddy Rogers and Chris Candido to start the show. Rogers was ecstatic about his win over Gotch to become next in line to face Lou Thesz for the CTW championship. Apter pointed out the subterfuge used in the win and Rogers became even more excited. He said that's the name of the game; win at all costs. Rogers thanked Candido for all of his hard work in pulling this off and said that kind of dedication is what defines a champion. Candido accepted the accolades and told Rogers it was worth it just to see the look on Gotch's face. Apter noted that Gotch has challenged Candido to face him on the big supercard. Candido responded that he's not afraid of Gotch and the win will take him one step closer to greatness. Rogers appeared to be proud of his protege and said he wished the other two (Albright and Pearce) would step up like Candido has. Magnum TA easily beat Johnny Rodz via BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX. A quick and easy win for Magnum kicked off the action. TA took about a minute to put away Rodz and looked intense. After the match Magnum TA spoke with Apter. He said The Russians had better have been watching because that was a message to them. TA was joined by the Briscoe brothers and they collectively challeged the Russian team to a rematch at the big show. Nikita Brevnikov came out to the interview area and said the Russians were paying closer attention than Magnum could realize and they would respond to the challenge, but only after the Briscoe boys go to the ring and suffer the humiliation they deserve at the hands of the Headshrinkers. Mark and Jay told Nikita it was time for the Samoans to man up and for him to shut up before hitting the ring. Mark and Jay Briscoe won by disqualification over The Headshrinkers. The match was heating up when Alofa took it too far outside of the ring and got his team disqualified. The Samoan duo continued their assault after the bell until Magnum TA attempted to come to the rescue. He was cut off by The Bolsheviks and Ivan and the situation looked bleak until The High Flyers raced out with steel chairs to chase away the villainous assailants. Super Crazy beat Adam Pearce with little effort. Pearce slapped Crazy in the face at the bell, and that was enough to set off the luchador. Super Crazy kicked it into high gear and won with the triple moonsault. Following the bout Albright jumped in the ring and seemed to be helping his partner up. Instead, he rocked Pearce with a exploder suplex and locked in the crowbar. Pearce screamed for help, but nobody likes Adam Pearce and therefore no one even bothered to shed a tear much less lend a hand. Albright did not let up until he hear d a "snap" and Pearce needed to be assisted back to the locker room area. The Sheepherders (w/ Boyd) defeated Cousin Luke and George South (subbing for Hillbilly Jim). [/b] The Sheepherders hurt Jim last show and the hillbilly cousin was looking for revenge. He came out strong, but his valiant but outmatch substitute partner was not up to par and ended up getting pinned. After the match Luke vowed to show up to face the Sheepherders again at the super card upcoming and said he'd be bringing family with him next time.Les Thatcher upset Harley Race in a non-title match thanks to Red River Jack. Before the match Terry Gordy joined Harley and they bragged about how, since Gordy was in the building, Bruiser could not be there because of the stipulation made by CTW officials. Gordy went to the back and Race began the match with a headlock. Thatcher took over soon thereafter and hit a series of dropkicks that made Race retreat from the ring. When he did Red River Jack came out and tossed him back into the ring. Race turned to yell at Jack but Thatcher rolled Harley up in a schoolboy pin and got the stunning win. Gordy came back out to try to get to Jack, but the masked man quickly exited the building.Sabu defeated Jerry Lynn with a huracanrana. These two pulled out all of the stops and had a tremendous match yet again. This time Sabu came out on top, turning a huracanrana into a pinning combination for the victory.Nick Bockwinkel(w/Stevens) pinned The Crusher. Bockwinkel relied on his partner's help to take the win. Crusher should have known better than to assume he would get a fair one-on-one match out of Bockwinkel with Stevens at ringside. He'll probably not make the same mistake again, as he got distracted, caught a knee to the back, and was put in the Bockwinkel Sleeper.

show 14 Bill Apter and new broadcast partner Lance Russell, "the most nasal broadcast team in wrestling", welcomed everyone to the show and gave highlights of the situation involving Rogers, Candido, Gotch, and CTW champ Lou Thesz. They said Thesz would talk tonight, the week before his big title defense against Rogers, and give his thoughts on everything as well as what we can expect at the supercard at the Legends Dome. Exotic Adrian Street beat Frank Williams. Street was vicious in dispatching the journeyman Williams (an alter ego of the "Mr. X" card). Street won with the CRUCIFIX.Following the match Adrian Street, with Miss Linda, spoke to Apter and Russell. He said he had beaten everyone in his path and not even Ilio on his "revenge mission" could stop Exotic Adrian Street. Street said that while all eyes are on Rogers and Thesz he's laying in wait and when he is finished no one will ever make the mistake of taking him lightly again. Sabu beat Super Crazy with the CAMEL CLUTCH. Good, kind of short match. Afterwards Sabu pointed up at the lights, then howled "HIM!" before leaving. Russell mused that Sabu had certainly not "found Jesus" so whoever or whatever "he" is it could mean trouble in the days and weeks to come.Lord Jonathan Boyd entered the ring and said he heard the backwoods hillbillies are raging mad after what the Sheepherders did to Hillbilly Jim and some new bumpkin has come out of the woods to get even. Boyd said he's standing there and he's ready, so bring him out! With that, Uncle Elmer made his CTW debut. Jonathan Boyd won by countout over Uncle Elmer. Kind of a nothing match. Boyd looked good, Elmer made his comeback and Boyd bailed. Elmer followed and slammed him on the floor. Boyd back in the ring, pleading his case to the ref as The Sheepherders attacked Elmer from behind. Ref turned around as Sheepherders took off and Elmer got counted out.Race and Gordy were interviewed by Apter. Race said everyone knows Bruiser Brody and Red River Jack are really the same person and it's time to cut this thing off before it gets any steam. Race said he and Gordy want them BOTH in the ring next week at the supercard and the CTW officials have given them the match. Gordy said that either Jack or Brody will show but not both, which means the charade will be over and Brody will be suspended. But, in the meantime, there's the business of a rematch with Les Thatcher and Gordy will be watching Race's back from ringside this time to make sure Race keeps the belt....gets a fair match. Harley Race defeated Les Thatcher in a 4-star Heritage title match. Thatcher seems to match up with Race better than he does anyone else. He nearly got the win, scoring a couple of near falls. In the end it was Race using a Indian Deathlock to defend the belt.Jim Cornette rushed the hosts' area as they introduced the next match. He said the Midnight Express are bored and the upcoming tag team battle royal is nothing more than something to amuse them. He said they, out of the goodness and generosity of their hearts, are going to give the winner a tag team title match at the supercard next week. Cornette then continued his giving ways and told Lance and Bill he'd be sticking around to provide commentary with them during the match. Lance was not amused, but Apter dutifully outlined the rules: when one member of a team is thrown over the top and out of the ring, his partner must leave as well. When it's down to the last two teams they will pair off and wrestle a traditional tag team match until there's a winner. The High Flyers beat The Sheepherders to win the tag team battle royal. order of elimination: 1.Headshrinkers (Brunzell threw out Samu) 2.Bockwinkel and Stevens (Luke tossed Bockwinkel) 3.Crusher and Pepper Gomez (Brunzell eliminated Crusher) 4.Kangaroos (Luke got rid of Heffernan) 5. Gagne pinned Luke after a noggin knocker on a broken pin attempt. Bill Apter closed the show with an interview with CTW champion Lou Thesz. Thesz said he's disgusted with the way Rogers gained (he won't say "earned") the number one contender spot and the championship match, but that doesn't mean he's going to take this defense lightly. Thesz said Rogers' flunky Chris Candido will have his hands full with a match against an angry Frank Gotch earlier in the night, which should leave only Brent Albright to worry about. He said Albright proved his brutality and do anything attitude by taking out his own partner when he broke Adam Pearce's arm last week. Thesz warned that he's not coming alone though, and Buddy Rogers and his pals had better be ready for a very big surprise if they try to get one over on the champ. next: Supercard 2

show 15 Supercard 2 Magum TA and the Briscoe Brothers defeated Ivan Koloff and The Bolsheviks (w/Breznikov). A solid opener saw a melee at the end where Mark and Jay Briscoe took out Koloff and Zuchov and Magnum used an impressive BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX on big Nikolia for the pin.Penny Banner won a 6-woman battle royal by eliminating Jazz. Tammy Sytch made her in-ring debut and was appropriately the first lady eliminated. Next went Ida Mae Martinez, then Nora Greenwald, and Sherri Martel got thrown out fourth.Bill Apter went to ringside and welcomed CTW newcomer, the masked Dr. X. Dr. X said he's been studying the opposition for weeks now, biding his time until the right moment to strike and make his CTW debut. The masked man said the time was soon and he had done enough scouting of the competition to make him very confident that no one will be able to stand in his way to becoming the CTW championship. Frank Gotch beat Chris Candido (w/ Tammy). Gotch was determined, but Candido put up a great fight. In the end Gotch scored an Iowa Backdrop out of nowhere for the pin. Following the bell Gotch grabbed Candido in the GOTCH TOEHOLD and would not release the hold. Tammy pleaded, the referee warned, and Candido screamed in agony. Finally, at the threat of having the decision reversed, Gotch let go of the hold. Candido's leg was badly damaged and he needed to be carried out of the ring. Harley Race and Terry Gordy won by disqualification over Bruiser Brody and Red River Jack. [/center] Brody went to the ring alone and explained that Jack had travel issues and would be late. Race said it was proof Brody was Jack all along and the handicapped match began. Finally, with Brody in serious trouble, Red River Jack arrived and cleaned house. The match settled in for a bit and went back and forth until the action spilled to the floor. There Brody got his team disqualified when he slung a chair at Gordy's head. Race and Gordy hightailed it out of the arena lucky to have the win and their bodies still intact.Brent Albright took to the ring and complained about Gotch taking out Candido. He said if anyone thought that would hurt NWA Evolution's chances of effecting the outcome of tonight's main event they forgot about him. That's when Lou Thesz entered the scene and said he had not forgotten about Albright at all. IN fact, he had found just the right man to make sure Albright doesn't get involved in the main event at all. -----out walked Andre The Giant and nothing more needed to be said. Andre The Giant crushed Brent Albright with the BIG SPLASH. Albright, to his credit, attacked Andre as he stepped over the ropes. It did no good. Andre shrugged off the blows and proceeded to beat Albright from pillar to post for a few minutes before mercifully ending it with the BIG SPLASH. Ablright suffered the fate of his partner and also had to be carried out of the ring. The High Flyers upset The Midnight Express (w/Cornette) in a 5-star match to claim the Tag Team Championship. I don't give the 5 star rating to many matches, but this one had it all and deserved the designation. In the end Brunzell made the hot tag, Gagne came in on Lane and used the Indian Deathlock. Eaton tried to get involved, but Brunzell cut him off at the last instant and Lane was forced to submit.Lou Thesz pinned Buddy Rogers to defend the CTW championship. Rogers tired to act the part, but he was visibly shaken after seeing his plans go awry earlier in the evening when both of his cronies got taken out of the picture. This was a good match, but Rogers could never get a big string of offense going and Thesz tore him up for the last serveral minuted before ending it with a THESZ PRESS.

JUMP CUT This is a new territory I'm starting under the CTW banner. It could be said to occur sometime in the mid-1980s as one of the last big territories left. Something like Mid-South/UWF I suppose, which is why the roster has that flavor. AND, why not jump right in with one of the biggest shows of the year. I'll provide backstory to tell you how we got where we are for each match where appropriate. Playboy Buddy Rose defeated George South Buddy insisted on being billed at a "slim, trim 217 pounds" and showed off in the one-sided affair by doing jumping jacks and one-arm pushups when South was down. Rose won with a DDT in about four minutes. BACKSTORY: Ted DiBiase's Rat Pack (Williams, Duggan, and DiBiase) had been the undisputed "bad guys" of the territory until the arrival earlier in the year of Skandor Akbar's Devastation Inc (Missing Link, One Man Gang, and Terry Gordy). DiBiase warned Akbar to back off of his territory several times, but Akbar refused to listen and said Gordy is the heir apparent to the National champion. DiBiase has sent his men into the ring to teach Akbar a lesson. Meanwhile, tensions have begun to flare between Williams and Duggan over which one is DiBiase's true right hand man.One Man Gang and Missing Link defeated Steve Williams and Hacksaw Duggan when Link pinned Duggan. Duggan had Link pinned with a flying spear, but Williams and One Man Gang had the referee distracted brawling on the outside. Akbar came in and hit Duggan in the back with a chair, setting up a Link back flying head butt for the win. After the match Duggan blamed the loss on Williams having the ref distracted, while Williams said Duggan embarrassed the team. It was about to come to blows when DiBiase entered the ring. He told them both to shut up, because he makes the calls in the team, and his call is that it WAS Duggan's fault and he DID embarrass the Rat Pack. To add insult to injury Williams blindsided him with a lariat to the back as DiBiase watched and laughed. DiBiase and Williams walked away to leave Duggan to try to compose himself and leave on his own. BACKSTORY: Brad Armstrong and his partner Tim Horner had been in pursuit of The Midnight Express and the National tag team championship until a serious knee injury sidelined Horner indefinitely. Brad found a new partner in Tracy Smothers and the duo has through a serious of rough battles worked their way up to contention. Their teamwork is not always on point yet, but their individual skills have made up for it to this point. The Midnight Express beat the New Lightning Express when Condrey pinned Smothers to defend the National tag team championship. Armstrong and Smothers nearly had the win in the early minutes of the match, but the Express came back (with a little help from Cornette). Finally it was the double goozle that put Smothers down for the three count, with Condrey getting the pin as Eaton held Armstrong from interfering. BACKSTORY: Tommy Rich entered the scene a few months ago and became and instant fan favorite, much to the chagrin of sometimes commentator, sometimes manager, and constant annoyance Eddie Gilbert. Eddie says the fans should recognize real talent like Hot Stuff himself and not a redneck hick like Rich. He has vowed to find the right man to put Rich out of the territory for good and has brought Mr Saito from Japan for this event as his paid enforcer.Tommy Rich defeated Mr Saito in a violent and bloody battle. Saito nearly earned the bounty on Rich, but Tommy proved incredibly resilient. He overcame numerous pin attempts and lots of violence on the floor to lock in the sleeper after about fifteen minutes of action to get the win and send Saito back to Japan unsuccessful in his mission. BACKSTORY: Tony Atlas was introduced as coming soon to the territory on television two weeks prior. It was said that he would put on a display of strength for the people in attendance at the Superdome by bench pressing 600 pounds. The weight bench and weights were brought to ringside and Atlas came out to nice applause. Jim Ross interviewed Atlas, who explained that he would work his way up to 600. He hoisted 400 easily, then 450. 500 pounds went up with a little more effort and Playboy Buddy Rose came out to get a closer look. Ross confronted him, but Rose assured him he just wanted to see the second strongest man (behind himself) in action. Atlas told him to back off, and Rose did. Atlas managed 550 pounds and was getting ready for 600 when Rose grabbed a handful of powdered chalk (used to assist with gripping the bar) and threw it in Atlas' face. Attendants rushed out to assist Atlas as he reeled in pain while Rose was escorted away by security at the instruction of promoter Bill Watts. Terry Gordy pinned Bob Orton Jr after a piledriver. Gordy won the battle of heavy hitters in about ten minutes, climbing one step closer up the ladder to a future National title match. BACKSTORY: The undisputed fan favorite of the territory over the past six months has been Magnum TA. He managed to defeat Duggan and One Man Gang in a mini-tournament held on TV over the course of two weeks in October to earn his big title shot at the Superdome. Magnum TA defeated Ted DiBiase to win the National title. DiBiase was in control and threw Magnum to the floor. TA came back with a body slam on the floor and DiBiase was clearly hurt. Steve Williams tried to come out to help DiBiase, but was cut off in the aisle by Hacksaw Duggan. The fans went nuts as Duggan and Williams brawled to the back. DiBiase got in the ring and was brought down with a back drop followed up by a pair of pinpoint dropkicks that stunned the champ long enough for Magnum to get the win. BACKSTORY Blackjack Mulligan has gone from hated villain to popular veteran over the course of his time in the territory. He pulled off an improbable win in a battle royal in early November to earn a shot at NWA champion Harley Race, who is coming in for one of his rare appearances in the area to defend the belt on the big Thanksgiving show. Over the previous couple of weeks Race sent taped interviews to the television station saying he was embarrassed for the area that they're wasting a rare chance to see the NWA champion defend the belt by giving the shot to a career underachiever and broken down dog like Mulligan. Mulligan responded on TV by saying he was going to prove Race wrong by winning the NWA title and he promised to retire from full time competition if he could not.Harley Race won by disqualification over Blackjack Mulligan in an NWA title match. Mulligan gave Race a scare when he locked in the claw hold, but Race managed to escape. The action later spilled to the floor, where Mulligan slammed Race on the timekeeper's table. The referee disqualified Mulligan for the action, stunning and angering the people in attendance. After the match Race snatched his title belt from the timekeeper and quickly walked away the winner, lucky to have escaped with his championship intact. A dejected Mulligan asked for the microphone and said a promise is a promise: he couldn't get the job done and he's calling it quits. The people booed and pleaded with him to reconsider, but Mulligan just took his black hat from ringside, tipped it to the fans one last time, and left.

CTW: Mid South Power Pro Wrestling Television The show began with footage of Magnum TA's North American title win over Ted DiBiase. Then Jim Ross (joined on commentary by Eddie Gilbert) said Magnum TA would be joining them later to talk about the biggest win of his career. But it was good news/bad news as Harley Race controversially defended his world title. Mulligan has promised to stick to his word despite the way the match ended and is vowing to retire from active competition. ALSO, a rematch with Duggan and Williams versus Devastation Inc was scheduled, but after the events of Thanksgiving night there is no way Duggan and Williams can get along to team again. Therefore Bill Watts has decreed that there will be two singles matches instead, with Duggan wrestling Link and Williams versus One Man Gang. Playboy Buddy Rose beat Mr X via Bombs Away Rose flexed and did one arm pushups during the match, claiming he is the real Mr USA. Post-match Rose went over to talk with Ross and Gilbert. Ross recapped what happened between Rose and Atlas and warned that Atlas would be making his debut this weekend in Jonesboro Arkansas and will have his television debut next week. He'll surely be looking for revenge against Rose. Rose argued that he was just trying to help Atlas and he's lucky he accidentally got some chalk in his eyes because otherwise he'd have been crushed under a barbell only a physical specimen like Buddy Rose could lift. Gilbert agreed, Ross was skeptical at best. The Sheepherders defeated Brad Armstrong and Tracy Smothers after the Battering Ram on Armstrong After starting strong as a team Armstrong and Smothers lose their second straight against top tier competition. The Sheepherders attacked at the bell and were in control on Smothers early, but the popular duo rallied. In the end the teamwork and double team moves of Butch and Luke made the difference. Gilbert excused himself on commentary, saying he had to make a phone call "coincidentally" right before Jim Ross interviewed Tommy Rich. Rich said Gilbert had better hide while he can because this weekend in Jonesboro he'll finally have to step in the ring with Wildfire after Rich sent Gilbert's latest henchman Saito packing back to Japan. Ross mentioned that Gilbert would have his mind on Rich for sure, but he'd better not overlook his big match later in the show when he faces Leaping Lanny Poffo. AS soon as Rich walked away Gilbert returned, apologizing for having to take that important business call. Ross once again skeptical of the veracity of another bad guy's claims. Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Missing Link with the Flying Spear. Link flailed away on Duggan in the opening moments, but Duggan came back and hit a strong clothesline. He set for the spear but Akbar jumped on the apron. Duggan decked Akbar, then his the spear anyway to get the convincing win. After the match Steve Williams attacked Duggan from behind and laid him out with the Oklahoma Stampede. Jim Ross interviewed new National Champion Magnum TA. Magnum said the world may be falling apart for Ted DiBiase right now, but Magnum is on cloud nine as the new National champion. He said he knows DiBiase is away training like a madman for a rematch down the road, and Magnum will be ready. But one thing he can't be happy about is the way the NWA title match ended on a controversial disqualification and he can't stand to see a great career end that way. Magnum called out Bill Watts. Watts said he agrees with Magnum and he's practically pleaded with Mulligan to stay, but Mulligan says a promise is a promise and he's sticking to his word. Magnum then looked into the camera and officially requested Blackjack Mulligan come on the show next week so they can talk about this face to face. Before the following bout Hacksaw Duggan attacked Steve Williams from behind and laid him out with the flying spear. One Man Gang defeated Steve Williams with the 747 Splash Gang was practically salivating as he stepped over the top rope to find Williams laid out. There wasn't much sympathy for Williams as Gang picked up the fairly easy win with the 747. Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert defeated Leaping Lanny Poffo via figure four leglock. Lanny reversed a hip toss in the opening seconds and scored with a cross body block for a one-count. After a few more moves Gilbert regained control and ended up getting the win in just under five minutes. Gilbert refused to release the figure four after the match. Finally Tommy Rich ran into the ring and brawled with Gilbert. They fought to the floor and all over the studio as Ross excitedly told fans these two would finally meet in an official match in Jonesboro this weekend and he's not sure if the ring will be able to hold them.

CTW: Mid South Jonesboro, AK Mike Graham defeated Mr X via cross bodyblock. Graham used several nice moves, including an impressive monkey flip, to easily defeat Mr X inside of four minutes. Tracy Smothers upset Terry Gordy via moonsault bodyblock. Terry Gordy had the seemed to have the match won at the six minute mark when he hit the piledriver, but Smothers got his foot on the bottom rope to break the count. Gordy continued to dish out punishment, but Smothers would not stay down. Smothers rallied and finally pulled off the upset with a moonsault bodyblock after about fifteen minutes of action. Leaping Lanny Poffo and George South defeated North American tag team champions the Midnight Express VIA DISQUALIFICATION. Lanny held his own admirably against the Express in the opening minutes, but got overwhelmed and eventually had to tag out on defense. South came in but was not very impressive. The Express was having fun beating on South and letting Cornette get cheap shots in, until Leaping Lanny finally got the referee to turn around just as Condrey was holding South on the floor so Cornette could assault him with paintbrush slaps to the face. The ref disqualified the Midnights and Cornette through a tremendous fit, ordering his men to attack Poffo. Leaping Lanny was too quick for them though, and bailed out before Condrey and Eaton could get to him, further angering the manager. MR USA Tony Atlas made a successful debut by beating The Grappler. Grappler was no slouch in this match, but Atlas was determined to make an impression in his Mid South debut and did so by hoisting Grappler over head for the military press and slam before executing the big splash to go on top for the pin. One Man Gang beat Hacksaw Duggan in a no disqualification match. The brawlers went back and forth for over ten minutes before Gang grabbed a steel chair at ringside and sent it crashing down over Duggan's head during a fight on the floor. Gang hit the 747, but Hacksaw kicked out. Gang went back to the steel chair at ringside and this time it was enough to daze Duggan long enough for Gang to use a face first suplex and get the pin. Wildfire Tommy Rich beat Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert with a sleeper. They picked up right where they left off on television, brawling on the arena floor before the referee could even call for the bell. They fought their way into the ring, where Gilbert had the early advantage. The match went on for nearly 18 minutes before Rich locked in a sleeper hold for the clean victory.

CTW: Mid-South Power Pro Wrestling Jim Cornette interrupted the open of the show by ranting about what happened in Jonesboro. He said Leaping Lanny Poffo may have embarrassed his old man when Angelo had to sign his son up for girls gymnastics, but he won't get away with embarrassing the Midnight Express. He said the contract is open and all Lanny has to do is sign on the dotted line and bring a real tag team partner because the titles WILL be on the line this coming weekend in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Sheepherders defeated Jim Powers and George South when Butch pinned Powers. Powers and South put up a good fight and even looked like they may pull off an upset, but the Sheepherders were too good and too ruthless to be denied. Butch pinned Powers after the Double Gutbuster. Terry Gordy defeated Mike Graham with the Bamm Bamm Slam. Graham gave Gordy all the fight he could handle, but Gordy ended up getting the win after over ten minutes of battle. After the match Gordy spoke with Jim Ross. Gordy said Tracy Smothers made the mistake of making Bamm Bamm Gordy angry, and the referee was on his side with that fast three count, but his luck's going to run out when they step in the ring again this coming weekend. Gordy said the North American championship was within his sight before Smothers sidetracked him, but he's going to use this rematch to show everyone why it doesn't pay to get in Terry Gordy's way, and then no one will stop him from becoming the new North American champion. Buddy Rose entered the scene to provide guest commentary for the upcoming bout. The Grappler defeated Tony Atlas after an assist from Buddy Rose. To the surprise of no one, Rose stepped into the ring to interfere after Atlas used the military press and slam. Atlas attacked Rose as he hit the ring, but Grappler loaded up the boot and took out Atlas with a hard kick to get the assisted win. After the match a groggy Atlas told Jim Ross that if Grappler and Rose wanted to play it that way, then he can play the game that way too. Ross said that maybe even Mr USA could do well to find a friend in the shark tank that is CTW Mid South. Steve Williams pinned Missing Link after the Oklahoma Stampede. Williams survived the back flying head butt by Link to come back with a powerful German suplex that set up the Stampede for the win. Magnum TA defeated Mr X in less than a minute in Magnum's first televised match as National champion. Magnum hit a running forearm and a pair of dropkicks to get the easy pin. Magnum joined Ross at ringside and got right back to the subject of Blackjack Mulligan and what happened to him on Thanksgiving. Ross said he heard Blackjack was indeed in the building this week as per Magnum's request and called on him to come out to ringside. Instead One Man Gang and Akbar showed up. As Gang towered over the new champ Akbar said the first title challenger for that National champion will be Magnum's last as he'll go down in history as the shortest reigning champion in CTW Mid South history. Akbar slapped Magnum and Magnum grabbed Akbar by the collar. Before he could strike back One Man Gang attacked Magnum. At that point Blackjack Mulligan ran out with a steel folding chair to chase Akbar and One Man Gang away. Mulligan said he appreciated what Magnum has tried to do for him, and he thinks TA has a lot of integrity and respect. Mulligan said he'd like to return that show of respect by being at ringside to watch out for Akbar when Magnum defends the belt against One Man Gang. The offer was accepted and as the show went off the air Jim Ross reminded fans that tickets are still on sale for this big event in Baton Rouge.

Thanks guys. CTW Mid-South Baton Rouge, LA Missing Link (w/Skandor Akbar) beat Brad Armstrong in a solid 12-minute opener. This one went back and forth and could have been won by either man at different points, but Link avoided a back body drop with a well placed kick and got the pin after a falling head butt. The Grappler )w/Buddy Rose) defeated Jim Powers. Powers did not fall easily, but Grappler worked the arm relentlessly and got the pin after a shoulder breaker. Before the match the ring announcer reported that Eddie Gilbert is not in the building tonight and Tommy Rich was introduced so the referee could award him the match via forfeit. Before that could happen Doug Gilbert ran through the curtain and down the aisle. He said Eddie couldn't be there due to circumstances beyond his control but there's no way he's letting someone like Rich get an uncontested win over a Gilbert. Rich agreed to face him and Cowboy Bill Watts stepped in to make it official and instruct the refere to ring the bell. Tommy Rich and Doug Gilbert wrestled to a double countout. Rich completely dominated the action in the ring in this short bout, but Doug rolled out of the ring and Rich gave chase. The two brawled halfway down the aisle and the referee counted them both out of the ring. (Doug was totally saved from a complete squash by one "(lv)" roll and a couple of bad rolls on a double disqualification check) Steve Williams pinned Hacksaw Jim Duggan with the Oklahoma Stampede. This one was a serious brawl. Lots of clotheslines, head butts, and haymaker punches were exchanged before Williams won out with the Stampede. After the match Akbar led One Man Gang and Missing Link out to attack Williams. When they were done with him they turned their attention to Duggan, resulting in both combatants being laid out by Devastation Inc. Jim Cornette led his Midnight Express to the ring and made some more jokes about Lanny and the Poffo family. He said Lanny may as well drag out his tag team partner so the butt whipping could commence. Lanny brought out both his partner Marty Jannetty AND his father Angelo Poffo to face Cornette and the Express. Tag Team ChampionsMidnight Express (w/Cornette) beat Marty Jannetty and Lanny Poffo (w/Angelo) when Dennis pinned Jannetty. Lanny started strong and tagged out to Marty. A few tags back and forth later and the tables had turned and the Express took over on Marty. They systematically picked him apart with double team moves until Dennis put him away with the face first leg sweep. Cornette continued to run his mouth after the match and Angelo grabbed him by the collar. Dennis tried to pull Angelo off of Cornette, but Angelo decked him. Lanny tried to intervene, but didn't notice that Cornette had dropped his tennis racquet and that it had been picked up by Bobby. Bobby whacked Lanny with the loaded racquet, then took out Marty as he tried to stand up. The Express then each grabbed one of Angelo's arms and held him so Cornette could tee off and blast him hard over the head with the racquet as well. Watts led a group of referees and security men down to the ring to order the Midnight Express to the locker room area before any more damage could be done. Tracy Smothers won by disqualification over Terry Gordy. Gordy failed to avenge his upset loss at the hands of Smothers, but did gain a little measure of revenge. After getting frustrated with wrestling over ten minutes and note being able to pin Smothers, Gordy tossed him out of the ring and hit him with a steel chair to draw the disqualification. Satisfied at the damage done he then walked away as Smothers was announced as the winner. Before the main event Blackjack Mulligan was introduced and took a seat outside of the ring in the champ's corner. Magnum TA beat One Man Gang (w/Akbar) to defend the National championship. One Man Gang came very close to making Magnum a one match champ, but TA was resiliant and kicked out after the 747 Splash. TA came all the way back and used a cross body press off the top rope to go for the pin. Akbar tried to get involved but was stopped by Blackjack Mulligan, allowing Magnum to get the pin.

Power Pro Wrestling Jim Ross did the show intro and was joined by National champion Magnum TA and Blackjack Mulligan. Magnum thanked Blackjack for being there for him to counteract Akbar. Magnum said One Mang Gang is tough enough without having to worry about interference, and it took all he had to walk out of the arena this past weekend with the National title. Akbar interrupted and told Mulligan he was better than playing cornerman and he still has too much fight left to end his career early the way he did. Blackjack asked why Akbar should care. Akbar said he doesn't care about Mulligan, but he DOES care about the reason Bill Watts let a crooked referee end Mulligan's career the way he did and the reasons Watts AND Magnum wanted Mulligan out of the ring. Before Magnum could respond Akbar walked away, leaving Mulligan and Magnum confused and talking off mic. The Sheepherders defeated Romantic Touch and Kiss Knight when Luke pinned Knight. The Sheepherders extending their winning record to three in a row against the masked journeymen (Rhett Titus and Kenny King LOTF pdf cards, for those not in the know). After the match The Sheepherders joined Ross at ringside. Butch said everyone was pretty busy ignoring the Sheepherders, but all they seem to do is win against inferior Yankee competition. He warned that they would be real hard to keep ignoring before long and everyone in the territory would be forced to take notice. Mike Graham and Brad Armstrong wrestled to a 15 minute time limit draw. This was a nice display of clean wrestling, but neither man could get the pin in the allocated 15 minutes of TV time this bout was given and it was declared a draw. The competitors shook hands after the match and Graham said this was the kind of clean competition he came to CTW Mid-South to be a part of. Jim Cornettewith the Midnight Express interrupted Ross and said that insincere handshaking stuff was enough to make him want to puke, but after what happened to the Poffo clan this past weekend he'd rather forget about it and celebrate. Ross introduced video of the incident in question where the Express held Angelo so Cornette could knock him out with the loaded tennis racquet. Angelo and Lanny Poffo showed up on the other side of the commentary stand and Angelo told Cornette that it would take more than a mama's boy like him and a couple of so-called men like the Midnight Express to keep the Poffo family down. The Express walked around to face the Poffo's and were about to attack when Randy Savage raced out from behind the curtain and pounced on Eaton and Condrey. Randy and Lanny brawled with the Express all over the studio, getting the better of the tag team champs who seemed more interested in trying to find somewhere to hide. They finally rolled into the ring and out the other side to get the separation they needed to make the Cornette-led retreat. A super intense Randy went over to Ross, took the mic and said Cornette forgot that when you mess with one of the Poffo family, you mess with them all, and the Macho Man was here to even the odds and "shove Cornette's racquet where the sun don't shine". Tracy Smothers defeated Mr X with the Jaw Jacker. Mr X tried to work the arm at the beginning of the bout, but Smothers reversed the momentum and hit a series of impressive moves and won the match in about three minutes. Eddie Gilbert went to ringside and apologized for not being able to make the match this past weekend and beat Tommy Rich like a rented mule once again (a claim Jim Ross asserted was "highly dubious" given his recollection of the way their first match went down). Eddie said he was proud of the way his brother Doug stepped in, and he was going to stay at ringside and watch Doug finish what he started and defeat Wildfire today. Tommy Rich pinned Doug Gilbert with a Thesz Press. Doug was more competitive this time around, and made a good match out of it. However, Rich slapped on the Wildfire Sleeper after about six minutes. Gilbert escaped by throwing him off the ropes, but Rich rebounded with the Thesz Press for the pin. Afterwards Eddie tried to come into the ring on one side while Doug stalked Rich from the other. Before an attack could happen Tony Atlas slid into the ring to watch Rich's back. The Gilbert brothers thought better of attacking at that point and walked away. Tony Atlas defeated Playboy Buddy Rose inside of one minute. Atlas wasn't playing in this match. Buddy attacked first, but Atlas countered with a jumping head butt and followed with the press and slam for the pin. The Grappler hit the ring a little too late to break up the pin, but stomped away at Atlas with the loaded boot anyway. The two-on-one attack was interrupted by Tommy Rich, who ran out wearing one boot and holding the other. He took a wild swing at Grappler's head and the masked man and Rose quickly exited the ring. Rich helped Atlas to his feet and the referee raised Atlas' hand in victory to close the show.

CTW Mid-South Tulsa, OK Mr X defeated Jake Milliman with a big elbow. Mr X scored his first ever victory with a win over the debuting Milliman. This was a pretty basic five minute match. The highlight was probably a sequence where Mr X missed a dropkick, then Milliman missed a dropkick, ending with Mr X finally hitting a dropkick to knock down the Milkman. Missing Link (w/Akbar) defeated Jim Powers. Powers took Link to his limit, and Akbar had to get involved to prevent the upset. Powers hit a power slam, but Akbar got on the apron to provide the distraction. That allowed Link to recover and hit an atomic drop to set up the back flying head butt for the tainted win. After the bell Steve Williams ran out and attacked Link. Hacksaw Duggan followed and went after Akbar. As soon as they were done beating down Link and his manager, Williams and Duggan turned their attention to each other and began brawling. It took security and several referees to break up the melee and the ring announcer reminded everyone that these two would settle it in tonight's main event. Mike Graham defeated Brad Armstrong. The rematch from their television bout earlier in the week was another long one. Both men survived numerous near falls, until Graham used a rolling cradle for the pin. Tracy Smothers won by disqualification over Terry Gordy. It's getting ridiculous at this point, as Smothers has now won three in a row over Gordy. This one went pretty much like the last encounter, with Smothers surviving everything Gordy could dish out and coming back with flurries of offense in between. Gordy threw him out of the ring and hit Smothers with the timekeepers bell hammer to get disqualified again. Tommy Rich and Tony Atlas defeated Eddie and Doug Gilbert. Atlas and Rich won their debut as a team despite superior teamwork of Eddie and Doug. The end came when Rich hit a top rope bodyblock on Doug for the pin. After the match Eddie attacked Rich from behind and hit him in the head with a chain-wrapped fist. Atlas got in the ring to stop it, but was attacked by Doug. Eddie and Doug gave Atlas a double suplex and started putting the boots to him. The Gilberts bailed out when it started to look like Rich and Atlas were going to begin to fight back to their feet. After that Rich demanded the microphone and challenged Gilbert to a one-on-one match at the next event and said Gilbert could even pick the rules. Steve Williams beat Hacksaw Duggan in a cage match. Hacksaw seemed to have things under control after about twelve minutes of action. However, he made the mistake of going up to the top rope for a flying shoulder block. Williams moved, Duggan crashed to the mat, and Doc Death followed up with the pin.
