Article/pics/trailer up HERE. My thoughts: - Face buttons returning as the control scheme is awesome. - Old submission system (think SD: HCTP for anyone who's played that) is back, which is a very good thing - The graphics look essentially the same. Not a bad thing. - You can finally interrupt moves! People have asked for that since the days of WWE Day of Reckoning on the Gamecube. - Del Rio looks awesome. Actually, so do Cena/Orton/Miz - I really want to see gameplay footage of this. - The Cena comeback being in the game is a nice detail, good thing you only get one shot at it. - Orton's RKO taunt setup is in, which is also pretty cool. - This looks like it has a shit ton of potential, I can't wait to see gameplay footage.

And the cover. Neat they're going with a one-man cover like regular sports games do: Release date is November 22nd, which I believe is the latest in the year a WWF/WWE game has ever been released with the exception of maybe WWF WrestleMania 2000. EDIT: Just checked, the only games near 11/22 for the release date are WWF In Your House (PSX, Saturn, PC) - 11/21/96 WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role (PSX) - 11/21/00

Well, that makes sense, as WWE would like to distance the word wrestling even further from themselves. Now it is like Madden or NHL with the year tacked on. But the word "wrestling" wasn't in "Smackdown vs. RAW" anyways, and it had the year tacked on before. I think WWE 12 sounds better than "WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2012", but it's not the name of the game, it's the game itself that counts. Honestly, the game could be called "WWE Presents Two Gorillas, a Chimpanzee, and a German Librarian Fucking in the Back Seat of a Chrysler at the Drive In Theater Watching Twilight Featuring Frank Sinatra Sodomizing a Dwarf 2012" and I wouldn't give a crap as long as the game was good. I remember reading that WWF War Zone was supposed to be called WWF '98, I've always wondered why that got changed. I've never found any explanation for it anywhere. Anyone else notice that the cover kind of looks like the UFC 2010 Undisputed cover?

Developer Q&A here. Some neat information. Think it's funny 24 years after WrestleMania III that WWE is using "Bigger. Better. Badder" as a tagline for stuff.

The graphics look amazing, but it doesn't sound that different.
Perhaps changing the name and cover will move them towards making it a 'real' sports game.

The graphics look amazing, but it doesn't sound that different. Other than them overhauling how working over body parts works, the submission system, going back to face buttons for the main controls instead of the stupid right analog stick, and the new tech that allows for move interruptions, it's not that much different. Perhaps changing the name and cover will move them towards making it a 'real' sports game. I'm hoping that's the case. I'll say it now: On paper this year's game looks really good. Maybe even great. I'll refrain from getting too pumped about it unless something super fantastic gets announced. For something NOT super fantastic: "Macho Man" Randy Savage won't be in WWE '12. His contract was only for All Stars.

Credit to the guy on WrestlingFigs who sat through the CAWscast long enough to bring us this info from Marcus Stephenson of THQ:

Heh, point taken, Switch. I guess what I meant was they didn't mention any changes to the meta stuff... all those things are gameplay related. The meta stuff is what I'd be most interested in.

First gameplay footage, and they FINALLY actually started using realistic camera angles.

Thought this was interesting, directly from THQ's WWE forum.
