Ahh, yes, I wasn't sure when I first read about people recognizing Colley as Rex, but after seeing that match, it became really evident.

Oh, it was super obvious. I was just a little kid and the first time I saw them I said "hey, that's Moondog Rex in face paint." There was no way I, or anyone else, was buying the guy who had been on TV losing left and right as part of what had become an underneath tag team as suddenly one half of this dominant new duo. Smash was far harder to crack; it took a few weeks since he'd let his hair partially grow out. It wasn't until I saw the tops of the wings of his eagle tattoo peaking out from over his elbow pad that I made the connection. Ax, on the other hand, had the advantage of hiding his identity under a mask for so long so to me he was always just Ax until years later when I found out he was also Masked Superstar.
