Last year, they raised the prices on us without saying anything about it. We now pay the same price as the print product despite not getting the physical cards and the cards being in color now.
And now this year, we don't get the set on release night anymore. We have to wait until Monday when all of the cards ship.
What the fuck? Seriously, I am an Online only player and it's starting to get hard to support the product when you get screwed over and over again. Why do I have to wait till Monday? Part of the reason I liked doing the Online thing was I got the cards sooner.
I think they've really hosed themselves here, I think they were getting several impulse buys from people that couldn't wait to get their cards in the mail. Now I doubt they'll be as likely to buy it. They've also lost out on a whole weekend of hype for the product from the Online guys.
So yet again, Online players get fucked over.

Amen brother! The discussion on the O Board has echoed many of these same ideas. I almost only play online now, because my time is beyond limited and rolling out the matches with real dice requires me to all that shit with me. I have to say that the pushing it back is because of some ppl bitching that it is "not fair" that online gets the cards the same time as those going to G-Con. Look if the online price had stayed cheaper, even after the color move, then the trade off of waiting until Monday would not be so bad. But gimme a fucking break. This weekend there will be more ppl online playing then there has been in months. Tonights tourney would be a perfect time to show off the new guys. Hell that is what I did when it was my turn to host online sessions. I always spotlighted the new cards. Dumb move.

I'm not sure if people complained actually. I'm wondering if Tom still thinks of Online as a supplement for the card game.

Well last year ppl who were at G-Con had said things about it used to special to get the cards before eveyone else. I was not at the event, but online in talking guys had said some stuff. I am not sure that it the whole reason, but it couldn't have helped
Lets not even get into the idea that online makes them so much fucking money, especially when the promoter is all done for free and still costs like $3 an issue.

I don't know what the hosting situation looks like but digital costing the same as physical is a pet peeve of mine. Everyone is doing that and I think it's ridiculous. I think it's retarded that books are almost the same price in print, same with video games bought online. It's just a ridiculous idea that all of these companies do. Marvel actually seems to be the only company that understands that as they've started offering an Online voucher when you buy their $3.99 comics.
I'm not going to call it free money because there is hosting and work that goes into a maintaining a site like this. But I think you could throw us a bone and offer things for a little less.

I could be wrong but I think Tom raised the price of the online sets when he got rid of online subscriptions. I remember him saying something about it before the cost went up. When the price was raised at the last minute last year he made good on the increase by giving the online players a free card.

Yes, that was the initial price increase which I feel was fair. The cards went color with 2125 and they kept the Online at B/W prices because we didn't get anything out of that. Last year, they essentially said they wanted a uniform price structure which I didn't like for reasoning.

Let's not forget how much the program/system had been bugged. Thank goodness BDS is back but it's still not 100%.

I'm still pretty pissed off about this. It was a huge downer on my weekend.
